- recently upgraded 4-piece bathroom

THE TRAVELER'S RETREAT
Your cozy private room is located towards the front of the apartment, with a large window to contemplate life through. It's on the shady side of the property, and makes for excellent sleeping. Decorated with curios, souvenirs and exotic arts collected during Lisa's travels, you will either feel right at home or on a wonderful adventure in this space!

A comfortable double bed outfitted with fresh linens and pillows and a small desk are there for your comfort. The bed has recently been upgraded with full allergen and bedbug protection for piece of mind. Wireless internet and the common areas are at your disposal during your stay. There is also a closet and open shelving unit to store your clothes during your stay. Towels are included.

This room is rather small so if you are sharing with a companion, shorter stays are recommended. Otherwise you may run out of space for large amounts of luggage!

Prior to your visit, I will provide you with my unique Hestia House guide to the city - this guide includes my recommendations on where to eat, get a drink, see a show and more! These are my recommendations and you won't find this information in any published guide!

I love hosting guests from all over the world, so if you have a question about the area or even want some company, just ask!

I love my home, and I hope you will too.

THE LOCATION
Situated in the heart of the trendy Junction area, the apartment is perched above a quiet storefront and easily accessible by public transit or by car. There is a bus stop 2 doors down, $2 per night public parking for your car, and easy access to major highways and Toronto's Pearson Airport.

Remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of downtown and relax at one of the fine Junction establishments in the evening, or take a 15 minute walk to the beautiful High Park or Bloor West Village; another great shopping & culture spot in Toronto.

There is a real sense of community here and everything is so convenient!

The location scores an impressive 93 out of 100 "Walker's Paradise" on the walkability score on (website hidden).

  • Our time in Canada was really good much due to the hospitality and comfort that we had at Hestia House. Lisa is a very friendly, kind, helpful and lovely hostess and we strongly recommend her for everyone who wants to have a great time in Toronto.
We have found everything to be exactly as advertised, and we would certainly wish to stay there again should we return to Toronto!

  • Lisa's house was basically a perfect setup. I stated there with my friend Elliot. The room suited our needs and Lisa was very nice. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The whole house was warm at night and in the daytime despite it being very cold outside. I would recommend this place to someone if they were looking for a place to stay in Toronto.

  • I can't say enough about Lisa and her wonderful place! You feel at home as soon as you get to her place! Very friendly-guided us to where everything is..and her kitty is a love! I highly recommend Lisa and her place. I will be coming back!

  • I stayed in the Exotic Double for a few days at Lisa's. What a great experience! Very comfortable room, restful space and a great neighborhood literally at your doorstep. Lisa is very helpful, informative and great host overall. Thanks Lisa and thanks to her awesome cat Luna too :)

  • Lisa is a Superhost and for good reason. The room was very comfortable, plenty of space for clothes and stuff and I slept very well. She has a very homely house and it is full of quirky pieces of art which really suits Lisa's personality. I loved the little touches like a really nice set of towels, a basket of toiletries for guests if you have forgotten anything and the map showing me where all the important stuff was (like ATM's, grocery stores, post office etc) which I found very useful. The Junction (the area) has everything you could need right in one place and a beautiful park 15minutes away. Transport was easy once you get the hang of it but you are 30 minutes to the city centre, however the bus stop is right across the road. I would stay with Lisa again in a flash as I found her helpful, friendly and she's a good cook and we had loads of nice chats together. You can have breakfast for an extra cost but there are so many good places to eat on the doorstep why would you?

  • My stay at Hestia House was awesome. I was at Lisa's House for 4 weeks. Lisa is an amazing host, who cares a lot of her guests. I felt really like being at home. We rented a car together and went to another airbnb-stay in Buffalo to go shopping! So it was an awesome time and Lisa was like a really good friend. I can recommend it a lot to stay at Hestia House every time when you are in Toronto !!!

  • My stay at the Hestia house was fantastic and Lisa is an amazing host! The apartment is well located in a very nice area, with easy access with public transportation. You can find everything you need within just a few streets from the house: supermarket, pharmacy, gym, bus stops, beauty salons and all kind of restaurants!
The room is very nice, cozy and clean, with enough space to put your things. The bed was ready with clean and fresh linen and also several towels. There is only 1 bathroom in the apartment, but Lisa keeps it always clean and gives you some space for your stuff. The kitchen and the living room area are very nice and big and it is a very nice area to spend some time with Lisa and with other guests. You can keep all your groceries in the kitchen and in the fridge, and of course you can use anything from the kitchen to cook or prepare your lunch.
Everything in the house worked well and we were allowed to use it anytime: washing machine, wi-fi, iron, coffee machine, etc.
Lisa is a wonderful host! Before I even got there, she sent me a guide with useful information about Toronto, the neighborhood, the house and other things. She was there to welcome and greet me, she showed me the entire apartment and told me everything I needed to know about the house and the neighborhood. She was always very nice, friendly and open with all the guests and me. She was always willing to help and of course to have a good time with us too.
I’m very satisfied with everything, I had a great time and I hope I can go back someday. In general, I would totally recommend this place without a doubt!

  • My experience at the Hestia House was fantastic! The location is very well-served: great food, general shopping and public transportation all in immediate proximity. The bedroom is comfortable and Lisa is a very friendly, welcoming and professional host. I had the joy and opportunity to meet other AirBnB'ers as well -- a couple from France and a lady from the Netherlands. If you're looking for a sweet deal and a fun experience, look no further than staying at the Hestia House with Lisa M!

  • My husband and I had a fantastic stay with Lisa in the Junction! We were in town for five days/four nights to see the city of Toronto and to meet up with some friends. Lisa was a very gracious hostess who was quite responsive prior to our visit and extremely helpful and friendly once we got there. The map she provided of the Junction neighborhood was quite helpful, and thanks to her we also learned of some stellar places to visit outside of the Junction, like Last Temptations (a restaurant/bar) in Kensington Market. By the by, even though we spent a lot of time exploring the city, my husband and I loved getting to know the Junction--it's definitely an up and coming neighborhood with a lot of fun bars and restaurants to check out.

It was quite easy to get to Hestia House via subway from the Toronto Coach Terminal, and as a result my husband and I could easily explore Toronto while experiencing what it's like to live in a real neighborhood. Most importantly, the room we stayed in was comfortable, quiet, and clean--the bed in particular was extremely comfortable. As a fellow cat owner I can appreciate how much time Lisa clearly spends on keeping her place in tip top shape. Of course, I can't wrap up our review without saying something about Luna, who is one of the friendliest cats my husband and I have met.

About
I am a professional host and SuperHost in Toronto. Not long ago I was featured in a New York Times article (July 25, 2011) for my hosting work & success with Airbnb! After that, I worked for Airbnb as a Host Success Manager, and now I am switching my focus towards full-time hosting with my partner and best friend Monica. Together we operate H&P Properties, which handles the two full apartment rentals you see on this site. I also work on the side as a style coach. Yay fashion! I really love hosting on Airbnb because of all the great people I get to meet. I love sharing my Canadian culture and the city of Toronto with them, and I love hearing about their world even more :) I've done a lot of traveling and love meeting new and interesting people. My experiences hosting on Airbnb so far have been great! I love to read, shop, roller skate, make jewelery, cook, bake and travel, of course! I have a spunky kitty cat named Luna that keeps me company here. She's super-friendly feline and loves my Airbnb guests as much as I do.
