Hestia House - Your home away from home
Hestia is the ancient Greek goddess of the hearth, architecture, and of the right ordering of domesticity and the family.

Located on the second floor of an historical 1940's building, the charming 4-bedroom apartment boasts the following:

- a spacious rooftop deck with barbecue and deck furniture
- large kitchen with brand new appliances, double sink and all cooking implements
- recently upgraded 4-piece bathroom
- sizable dining/common area with table, chairs, bookcases, lounge area and uniquely styled buffet & hutch
- hardwood or carpet and updated fixtures
- skylight & updated lighting
- artistic touches and one-of-a-kind art throughout
- updated fire & safety features
- Bedrooms are equipped with fans but no air conditioning, but best efforts are made to keep the rooms comfortable

Your cozy private room is located towards the front of the apartment, with a large window to contemplate life through. It's on the shady side of the property, and makes for excellent sleeping. Decorated with curios, souvenirs and exotic arts collected during Lisa's travels, you will either feel right at home or on a wonderful adventure in this space!

A comfortable double bed outfitted with fresh linens and pillows and a small desk are there for your comfort. The bed has recently been upgraded with full allergen and bedbug protection for piece of mind. Wireless internet and the common areas are at your disposal during your stay. There is also a closet and open shelving unit to store your clothes during your stay. Towels are included.

This room is rather small so if you are sharing with a companion, shorter stays are recommended. Otherwise you may run out of space for large amounts of luggage!

Prior to your visit, I will provide you with my unique Hestia House guide to the city - this guide includes my recommendations on where to eat, get a drink, see a show and more! These are my recommendations and you won't find this information in any published guide!

I love hosting guests from all over the world, so if you have a question about the area or even want some company, just ask!

I love my home, and I hope you will too.

Situated in the heart of the trendy Junction area, the apartment is perched above a quiet storefront and easily accessible by public transit or by car. There is a bus stop 2 doors down, $2 per night public parking for your car, and easy access to major highways and Toronto's Pearson Airport.

A 5-minute bus ride takes you to the metro station (or a 10 minute walk), and it's only 20 minutes into the downtown core of Toronto.

The Junction is one of Toronto's most vibrant communities, featuring a wide selection of restaurants, bars, bistros, shopping and coffee shops in a friendly environment. Remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of downtown and relax at one of the fine Junction establishments in the evening, or take a 15 minute walk to the beautiful High Park or Bloor West Village; another great shopping & culture spot in Toronto.

There is a real sense of community here and everything is so convenient!

The location scores an impressive 93 out of 100 "Walker's Paradise" on the walkability score on (website hidden).

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Lisa's house. Lisa is definitely a Super Host. She is friendly, knowledgable, patient and very helpful!!!
The appartment was very welcoming, warm, super quiet and clean. I stayed in two different rooms and they were both spacious, clean (fresh bedsheets, towels) and the beds were comfortable. Regarding the location, the Junction is a charming area full of cool and affordable coffee shops and restaurants. It was a great experience and I would recommend Lisa's house to anyone visiting in Toronto.

  • Lisa is a wonderful and knowledgeable host. She knew the area inside and out and had many fabulous recommendations. Her home was welcoming and clean and in a great location, I will definitely stay with her again if I am ever in the area.

  • As a fellow host, I was curious how Lisa got the title of "Superhost". But minutes after I met her, it is obvious that she deserves the title 100%. Lisa is friendly right from the beginning. When we arrived, there was a board on my door that says "Welcome Gideon". It was easy to feel at home at Lisa's cos she made the effort show us everything that we can use. On our second night, the temperature took a dive from 25deg c to 3deg. We were caught without any winter clothes. Lisa thoughtfully went through her closet and found us her 2 least feminine looking coats for us to borrow. It was hilarious but also a life-saver. Lisa creates a friendly environment at her home such that her guests find it easy to befriend other guests. We got to make some nice friends while we were there. Our stay at Lisa's is definitely one of the highlights of our Toronto vacation. Oh and I am missing Luna, the resident cat, already.

  • Lisa is a great host and has a beautiful home. The area is great also, on the airport subway line, close to the city and also lots of cool stuff in the neighbourhood. Highly recommended.

  • I came in Toronto with a friend of mine, both of us with a working holiday visa and we decided to stay at Lisa's for the first week, before mooving to another appartment on our own... well let's just say that Lisa has been simply WONDERFUL! She has been so nice, kind, helpful, lot of fun and she turned out to be a great new friend! We were very very lucky to get to know her! she helped us in so many different ways! like when we didn't find an appartment on time, she managed to set us up in another of her rooms! she helped us with our curriculums and our cover letters... simply amazing! and what can I say about the nail polish night?! that was a lot of fun! I will defenetly reccomand her to all my friends! she's a great person and a very welcoming host!

  • Lisa's house was basically a perfect setup. I stated there with my friend Elliot. The room suited our needs and Lisa was very nice. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The whole house was warm at night and in the daytime despite it being very cold outside. I would recommend this place to someone if they were looking for a place to stay in Toronto.

Full-time Host, Style Coach
I am a professional host and SuperHost in Toronto. Not long ago I was featured in a New York Times article (July 25, 2011) for my hosting work & success with Airbnb! After that, I worked for Airbnb as a Host Success Manager, and now I am switching my focus towards full-time hosting with my partner and best friend Monica. Together we operate H&P Properties, which handles the two full apartment rentals you see on this site. I also work on the side as a style coach. Yay fashion! I really love hosting on Airbnb because of all the great people I get to meet. I love sharing my Canadian culture and the city of Toronto with them, and I love hearing about their world even more :) I've done a lot of traveling and love meeting new and interesting people. My experiences hosting on Airbnb so far have been great! I love to read, shop, roller skate, make jewelery, cook, bake and travel, of course! I have a spunky kitty cat named Luna that keeps me company here. She's super-friendly feline and loves my Airbnb guests as much as I do.
