The Space

This little gem is in the heart of Prospect Heights, where you the get best of city living while feeling as though you're living in a small town. Fantastic subway access: we're one block from the B & Q subway line (at Seventh Ave stop) which will take you to Union Square, Manhattan in 15 minutes, and 2 blocks from the 2 & 3 lines (Grand Army Plaza). We are at the gateway to Prospect Park with over 500 acres of wild beauty (and a carousel) where you can jog, sunbathe, birdwatch or people watch. We're a short walk from the phenomenal Brooklyn Museum (check out First Saturday) or Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a weekly Farmer's Market, and outstanding flea market! Walking distance also to Brooklyn Academy of Music, or Park Slope and Barclay’s Arena.

The Neighborhood

We are directly across the street from a well-stocked supermarket, and excellent bakery/café, so if you prefer not to brew your own, you can roll right out of bed for a fresh croissant and coffee! Right on the block we have another great breakfast and lunch spot, a bagel bakery, several bars and restaurants - among them, one of the best artisanal pizza spots in Brooklyn (Amorina). After dinner you can stop in to browse our top-notch (new and used)bookshop - open 7 days till 11 p.m., just one block away, then (after a wait) get salted caramel or gooey gooey ice cream from Ample Hills, where ice cream is made fresh, on the premises!
In other word, everything a person might need!

  • The apartment is very artistically decorated, warm and cozy. It has everything you need. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, coffee and tea makers, toaster oven, and blender. The refrigerator is fully stocked with an assortment of jams, butter, yogurt, milk, eggs, coffee, tea bags plus pasta, sauce, olive oil, condiments. The owner is so generous! Although I didn't cook since I was visiting my daughter, who lives less than a block away, (we met her friends for dinner each evening), it would be a great place to cook and kick back. There are some great restaurants in the neighborhood including Albano's restaurant which is Zagat rated. The shower is large and has great water pressure. Plenty of storage place for clothes and luggage. The bed is very comfortable with warm comforters and an assortmen of pillows. There is a heater that quickly heats the room up. Plus a nice TV, stereo system with Roko TV including Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, etc. The owner lives upstairs and operates a restaurant below the apartment so he is very available if you need him. Albano was very responsive to all of my many questions and a lovely person to meet. He was there when my cab arrived to check me in. I will definitely go back. It is a nice neighborhood in Prospect Park Brooklyn and only a 5 minute walk to the subway where the Q train will take you into Manhattan in about 20 minutes. The Eastern Athletic Club is around the corner and you can pay a day fee of $25 to use their facility which has a steam room, jacuzzi, sauna, and pool plus exercise equipment. The Brooklyn Museum is also very close as well as the Brooklyn Academy of Music which has movie theaters and live performances. This was my second experience with AirBnB and I only have good things to say about both places I've stayed. The apartment is only one flight of stairs which is nice since there is no elevator. it is very secure and I felt very safe staying there as a single woman. It is within walking distance of the Park Slope neighborhood which is a great shopping area.

  • My sister and her girlfriend stayed here for 5 nights and had an incredible time. It's in a very hip location and the apartment is beautiful. It was inviting and very clean, and Albano left lots of goodies in the fridge and coffee and tea on the counter for them to enjoy.
By the end of the trip they were ready to move in, and decided that this would be their go to place to stay every time they visit.

  • Clean, comfortable; great location three blocks from Prospect Park and one block to subway. Nice, unexpected amenities: coffee there; yogurt, OJ, and imported beer in fridge; ROKU on demand TV.

  • Albano was friendly, easy-going and thorough. the apartment is excellent. it's very spacious, well-appointed and the location is awesome. a great homebase for visiting NYC. you could spend at least a few days just visiting the bars, shops and restaurants right on the block. the grocery store across the street, prospect park, and the various subway lines within a few blocks make it a perfect pad.

i highly recommend it, and the restaurant Aliseo downstairs is a real treat.

  • Loved Albano's place. It is spacious, comfortable, and in a great neighborhood. if you haven't been to Brooklyn before, it's definitely a great place to stay for your first visit. Also Albano was extremely easy to deal with.

  • We spent five days in Albano's apartment during our short vacation in New York.

The apartment is conveniently located near several subway lines, Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Museum and has all the amenities, as seen in the photos.
It also has the magic of making you feel at home right away.

Albano also helps you feel comfortable. Not only for the beers and fresh water in the fridge but also because he made everything very easy.
He was always available and knew very well what was "cooking" in the neighborhood.

We recommend the restaurant downstairs, especially its cod croquettes, reminiscent of the best restaurants in the Basque Country.

  • We spent a lovely week at Albano’s place at the beginning of May. He is a great host. Extremely friendly and helpful. He made us feel very comfortable. Everything was so easy to arrange. The apartment is really nice and cozy. There is everything you need. The location is great - in the heart of Brooklyn. It is so close to best spots of Brooklyn (please take a look at Albano’s description). It’s about 5 minutes walk to subway station and about 15 minutes to reach Union Square. We would definitely stay there again. I really miss this place!

Aliseo Osteria, Amorina Pizza Rustica
I'm the Owner and Executive Chef of Aliseo Osteria in Brooklyn. I grew up in the kitchens of Porto Recanati, on the Adriatic Coast of Italy. After coming to New York and working as a commercial photographer, I opened Aliseo in 2003 and in 2005 I opened Amoriina Cucina Rustica. Aliseo and Amorina are considered 2 of the mainstay of Brooklyn, creating handcrafted foods, in the spirit of "farm to table" philosophy. I travel frequently to Italy, in a sort "continuing education" and search for new ideas and suppliers, touring wine producer and small cheese factories.
