The Space

Welcome! You will be staying in a superb and very comfortable penthouse. It is 105 sq meter and has a 16 sq meter terrace which is FACING SOUTH.

As you can see from the pictures there is a luxurious walk-in shower and separate bath. The apartment building is located in central Amsterdam on Waterloosquare: the very popular Waterloo flea market is open daily.

You will stay approximately 500 meters from Rembrandtsquare and 1 km from Damsquare. The Metro and tram are around the corner. Waterlooplein is a stop on the common part of metro lines 51, 53, and 54. Tram lines 9 and 14 and the Museumboot water taxi also stop at Waterlooplein. There is a taxi stand and parking garage.

The hermitage Amsterdam museum is only 400 meters away and a few of the famous Amsterdam bridges over the canals are exactly in this area too.

The regular supermarket which is open till 22.00 hrs and a very nice biological supermarket are both within 25 meters of the doorstep.

There is an elevator in the building, as well as wireless internet which you can use. Washer and a fully equipped kitchen (see pictures) are also available.

I look forward to hearing from you if you are interested in enjoying Amsterdam, staying in a luxurious and comfortable penthouse right in the center of town!

  • It probably the best Airbnb experience. first the house looks amazing. even more than it seems in the pictures. Everything in the house was clean and orderly. we did not met François personally he was out of the country so we contacted with his neighborhoods and friends, they was very kind and helped us with any question we had. the location is very good, you can walk to s lot of center places, there is a supermarket next to the apartment, and good restaurants; (we did not cooked in the apartment)
    very recommended!

  • We had the most wonderful stay at Francois' penthouse apartment in (email hidden)ancois was quick to respond to our inquiry and stayed in communication with us as our holiday trip drew close. We landed earlier than expected in Amsterdam but he was more than accommodating. He met us at his apartment building 2 hours earlier than expected and helped the weary travelers bring our luggage upstairs.

The apartment...what a gorgeous place! It was tastefully, and beautifully, decorated and reflected a life of travel and wide cultural interests. Francois took time to explain about all the amenities available (wifi, dishwasher, washing machine microwave, refrigerator, coffee machine, outdoor terrace, TV, stereo, house phone for local calls, bathroom, towels, iron) and left us a print out of important info along with his contact details in case we needed him.

The location…Waterlooplein is an excellent home base. There is both a tram stop and a taxi stand 2 minutes away. The famous Waterlooplein flea market is right across the street and there is an organic supermarket right next door. We bought delicious food to make for dinner a few nights during the week when we needed a break from eating out. Amsterdam sights such as the Portuguese Synagogue, Rembrandt's House & the Hermitage are a 5 min walk away. In fact, it was an easy walk to almost all the key sights...or a simple tram ride away.

If you are looking for a home away from home in Amsterdam with the most gracious and kindest host in Amsterdam, you'll find it at Francois' place...your search is now!!

  • François is an awesome host. He made our check in and check out easy, and made himself very available via email for any questions or concerns. Everything we needed was right there. (We like to cook!) The accommodations, the view, and the location were excellent. The predictable noise related to the "ebb and flow" of the popular flea market below was like background music and easy to adapt to. Having an organic grocery store right next door was a bonus, and the regular grocer is three minutes away, as is the metro. We had a great time.

I live in the great city of Amsterdam since 1996. I am carrying a Belgian passport and working for an Irish multi-national company. I love travelling (love-hate relation with travelling) and have been around on this planet.... . for work alone already to over 70 countries. Next to travelling I love jogging, running (1/2 marathon is my favorite), yoga (ashtanga) and meditation. Please do not hesitate to send me a message if you need more information. I look forward meeting and hosting you, François
