Recently renovated 3 bedroom/1.5 bath guest cottage, in the quiet, laid-back mountains of North Carolina. Ideal for a small group of friends or family. Very secluded & private. This place is perfect to unplug from everyday life & enjoy nature at its finest. Features include an outdoor shower house w/ plenty of hot water, an environmentally friendly, highly efficient compost toilet, and a simple camp kitchen. The nearby tree house serves as a bonus space to relax, sleep, or gather in evenings.

The space
This is an earth-like guest house on the Homestead Farm, a mere 40 minutes from Smokey Mountain National Park. The space is set up dorm style, with a private entrance and parking on site. There are 3 bedrooms, each with 2 twin-single, extra-long tempurpedic beds in each room. Ramate - (the guest house) is only rented to one customer/group (max of 6-7) at a time.

When you enter Ramate (from above the garage), the bathroom (compost toilet) will be located on your right and the rooms are located down the main hallway straight ahead. You may enjoy the outdoor tree house - it is the best place to gather and play games. You can also sleep in the tree house, w/ a cot available, upon request. There is an outdoor shower house that offers 2 private shower stalls with a rustic-wood finish and built in benches and shower hooks. The water is sourced from a clear, mountain stream, flowing through a three part filtration system, offering plenty of on-demand, hot water. The nearby, 100 year old Smokehouse serves as a very simple camp kitchen (propane stove and basic cooking tools). A small fridge and coffee pot are available in Ramate.

ADD-ONS to your experience, may include the following: Create your own Native American Flute with Hawk; Learn from Ayal, about the healing power of the Medicine Wheel Ceremony and the Crystal Gardens; Join Hawk on a guided nature hike and explore the bounty of the edible and medicinal plant community; Experience a Shamanic Journey and/or transformational, healing opportunity with Ayal. Add-on experiences require an additional fee and/or love offering, that may be paid at the time of your visit.

Want to serve as an intern on the Homestead Retreat organic farm and orchard? As an approved WWOOF-USA farm we offer work trade opportunities.

Guest access
You will have access to the guest house, shower house, tree house, and smoke house kitchen. Parking: space for one car, directly under the guest house. Extra parking is located in the guest parking lot, 100 yards up the road. Entrance to your rooms is around the back side near to the solar showers, smokehouse kitchen, and tree house. You are encouraged to explore and hike around the many trails on the property, as well. The Barn and Main House are off limits, however, if you would like a tour, please ask - we would be happy to show them off! Please respect the privacy of our neighbors driveways and homes.

Other things to note
If you would like to cook during your stay, an outdoor camp kitchen offers a single burner stove with a tea kettle, skillet, pots, and dinnerware. A nearby sink allows you to easily clean up, after your meal, which guests are responsible for. Thanks for keeping it clean!
