Relax in our Guest Cottage, Ramate', in the serenity of the NC mountains. Located at scenic, Homestead Retreat center & farm. Ideal for one-two couples or a small family group. Perfect place to unplug from everyday life & enjoy nature at its finest. 3 small bedrooms and an environmentally friendly, highly efficient compost toilet. Outdoor shower house (2 stalls w/ changing rooms & ample hot water) and basic camp kitchen. The tree house serves as a bonus space to relax or gather in the evenings.

The space
Our Earth-friendly guest cottage is located on Homestead Retreat farm. A mere 40 minutes from Asheville and Smokey Mountain National Park. The natural beauty of the land cannot be underestimated. Forests are lush with ancient trees, numerous springs, creeks, and waterfalls, with pastoral views of fields and gardens around the farm. Chickens are a bonus bit of fun!

When you enter the guest cottage (located above our art studio), the bathroom will be located on your right and the rooms are located straight down the main hallway. The guest cottage is only rented to one family/group (max of 4 adults) at a time and is set up dorm style, with a private entrance and parking nearby. There are three bedrooms, each with two, twin single, extra long, tempurpedic beds.

You may enjoy the adjacent, outdoor tree house - a great place to gather and relax or play games. You are welcome to sleep in the tree house if you bring your own sleeping bag and ground pads. There is a (very nearby) outdoor shower house that offers 2 private shower stalls with a rustic-chic wood finish, each offering built-in benches and changing area. The water is sourced from a clear, mountain stream, flowing through a three part filtration system, offering plenty of on-demand, hot water. The 100 year old (newly renovated) Smokehouse serves as a very simple camp kitchen (propane stove and basic cooking tools). A small fridge and coffee pot are available inside the cottage. A deck, picnic table, and fire pit allow for outside activities.

Guided experiences around the farm, mountain trails, and streams are offered by the host, Ted 'Hawk' Hurst, upon request. Hawk is master naturalist and storyteller, specializing in edible and medicinal plants, animal behavior, and ancient living skills and lore. Additionally, the organic gardens, orchards, chickens, and honey bees can be explored. There is a minimum fee of $40.00, per hour, required for this service. Guided experiences must be booked, in advance.

Want to serve as an intern on the Homestead Retreat organic farm and orchard? As an approved WWOOF-USA farm we offer numerous work trade opportunities.
