THIS AREA HAS NOT BEEN AFFECTED BY THE STORM. WE ARE HAPPY TO ACCOMMODATE YOU.
About your room:
Please don't be put off by this listing being outside of Manhattan. We are closer to Midtown Manhattan, Times Square, Theater District, Madison Square Garden, Grand Central Empire State Building, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and Rockefeller Center than staying in other parts of Manhattan (Wall St., Upper East or West Side, above 70s... We are closer than all parts of Brooklyn and definitely way closer than staying in Queens/Bronx).
Guys Gaby here: to get a feel how close we are, look at the video http://(website hidden)/watch?v=qVzgLcDjWzY

I recently had a terrible experience staying at one of Gaby's rentals.
The listing was deceptive, it said that there were two shared bathrooms for the three bedrooms, it turned out that there was one bedroom with a private bathroom (behind their locked door) and a small bathroom to share among the two other rooms. The listing to this day still says there is one full bathroom and one powder room shared among all guests.
There were five other people squeezed into the other small room, so there were 7 people sharing a bathroom. When I contacted Gaby, she first tried to say that the listing said 1 bedroom 1 shared bathroom (she had just changed the listing but I had screenshots) that this was deceptive all she did was offer me a private room and bathroom at one of her other rentals for 50% more expensive for only a few days of our trip. We declined as our budget for the trip was already set.
-The house rules are almost non-existent. We had to deal with the most inconsiderate, loud guests ever. Slamming doors in the middle of the night, having sex in the living room, talking loudly (walls are suuuuper thin, you can hear EVERYTHING), when we complained to Gaby she was no help. One night the neighbor below came up to threaten to call police on the other guests, saying what Gaby was doing was illegal, this was not a hotel but a home, and he had children trying to sleep. He was extremely angry and we wanted to leave right then, but during Christmas in New York the hotels were all booked or very expensive.
-the keys you are given are all unmarked, means you have to try every key every time
-the smoke detectors are ripped out, clearly a hazard
-there are super thin walls and floors, you can often hear the small children upstairs running and when they cry in the night it sounds like they are in your room
-the other guests had guests themselves for several nights (!) who of course used the shared bathroom themselves, adding to the inconvenience
-It is very expensive to take a taxi into the city, and the bus during rush hour took 1 hour
-We decided after our experience it would be better to stay in Manhattan next time, (even if we have to stay for less days) because we can just take the subway and not have the added cost of using the NJ transit system and NYC metro.
-It's very hard to get a taxi around the area, most taxis will not come to that area of NJ even if you call
-There was lots of food in the fridge left from other guests that had gone rotten, even after another guest threw everything away it still had a very bad odor.
-they provide the worst single-ply toilet paper ever
-the apartment is modern and well maintained, linens and towels were comfortable
This place is clean and newly remodeled. And best of all there are not cats or dogs to bother peoples allergies. I would highly recommend this place.
I had a very pleasurable experience. Everything was as advertised and better. The ability to get into NYC was stated to be easy and quick, but until I actually tried it, it seemed an overstatement. I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of movement into and out of the city. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Next time i go to New york, I hope to stay with Gaby again!
Great spacious apartment in perfect location. Clean, tidy and comfortable. Loved our stay and will defo be back.
All the Airbnb appartments rented by these couple have geneorous space, specially in the common areas, and good quality of electric appliances, mattresses, etc. Confort is guaranteed. They are personally nice and open to help and if possible to communicate in a wery warm and familiar way. Check-in has to be organized in advance as they may not be present. They offer lots of options in Union City / New Jersey, a quiet area connected to Manhattan by bus through the Lincoln Tunner, so is better to have clear bus timetables to better organize your transport
I stayed at Gaby's apartment for one night only so my review is based on that short stay. The apartment is spacious with a nice little balcony. Getting to the apartment was a bit of a challenge as you have to take a bus/taxi from times square to NJ. If you take the bus you'll find yourself walking roughly 15 more minutes to get to your destination and if you're on a tight schedule this may not be the most convenient stay. A taxi from Times Squares to NJ is roughly $60 or more so be aware of that. This would be a great place to stay if staying for longer than just one night, but for those staying less this may not be so. The only thing I was not content about was that upon arrival there was no water in the house and thus could not bathe. I informed her of this and she was quick to reply and was able to get that problem fixed by the time I returned from NY. Her place is lovely so I would recommend if staying for more than one day.
We only met Gaby while staying at Union City, she is the sweetest! She helped us with the location and told us where to get the bus to go to the city. She also helped us with the Parking Permit situation and everything was wonderful. The place is really nice! Everything was clean and the neighborhood is the safest. Highly recommended!
We stayed 5 nights at gabys apartment and all in all we had a great time. The Aparment itself is beautiful. Very clean, very spacious with a great kitchen and a nice view over new york. It is located in a quiet area in union city and we always felt very safe there - even at night. With the Bus (Line 123 or with the Chicken Bus) it is really a very short trip to manhatten - only during rush hour it can last longer (once we needed almost one hour, but that was ok). Our Room was a little bit small, but we had a bed and that was all we wanted. There was a Wardrobe in our Room which we unfortunately couldn´t use, because there were only a few hangers and nothing else - to little space for two people. But it was not a great problem for us. The Bathroom, which we shared with some other guests was not really spacious but very nice with a great shower. Unfortunately it was not possible to lock the door to the bathroom, but with a sign on the door it was no problem ;)
Unfotunately there were also some things we didnt like:
1. In the Apartement above there is a very lively child and also a baby. You can hear them run around during the day and also scream at night and early in the morning.
2. We got 4 Keys overall and they were all not marked. so it was really difficult to find the right key each time we needet them.
3. There was absolutely no breakfast provided. Not even simple instant coffee. We stayed with several Airbnb-Hosts already and got at least coffee every time.
4. There was Milk and some other stuff in the Refrigerator and nobody knowed who it belong to and how long it had been there.
5. In the Booking-Confirmation we were told, that check-in and check-out is possible at any time. But when we arrived at the apartment we found a letter with the house rules, which told us, that check-out has to be not later than 10 am. Gaby should tell this already in the booking confirmation, so that the people are able to plan their last day better.
6. Unfotunately we never saw gaby or somebody else from her family
But all in all we had a gread stay and we would stay there again if we ever come back.
