About this listing
Discover the true spirit of Bali.
Embedded in a balinese village, SANUBARI offers you the opportunity to be part of traditional balinese life on one side, while following your own intentions on the other. Do all the things you're planning to do and don't miss to experience a centuries old culture which still does exist.
Slow down, relax and enjoy the things to do. There's many to choose from:
go diving, snorkeling, rafting, fishing...
join our balinese cooking class
go on tour and see sacred temples, amazing waterfalls, beautiful rice terraces and
go tracking or do climb a volcano
and many more...
We have the experience and know-how to either show you around or - if you like to stay individual and go on your own - just tell you where to find the places worth visiting and anything else.
We're looking forward to welcome you!
Come and be fascinated by this wonderful island!
Since we are only one guesthouse and i am living nearby, we are able to manage your requests individually as well as cleaning times, meals and everything else.
There are no certain rules as long as you respect the house and the neighbours :)
Oh, yeah, maybe do not set the house on fire would be a good rule!
Thank you Sil and Ketut's for your wonderful hospitality. We had experienced true Balinese's life, that is the reason we came. Ketut's home cooking is very comforting and tasty. The location is rural, which we loved, and Ketut helped us arranged a scooter which made it easy to access places. It was a such relief to be away from the tourism traps.
Thank you again for everything.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place for people travelling alone, without their own car or for longer periods of time as it is not safe, dirty, very loud and inhospitable - especially when Silvana is not around. The place is very isolated.
We had a very pleasant stay at the Sanubari. It was a perfect Start in Bali for us. Just relaxing and being shepherd by Ketut and Silvana. They organized an Yogi for practicing yoga. Made was as relaxed as our whole stay. Thanks for being our hosts at the Sanubari!
Silvana was very communicative and we had no problem getting directions to the house. The house itself is part of a family compound; where we stayed was separate from the rest of the compound and very spacious; great spot to practice tai-chi or yoga as there is a big wooden floor in the living area. While we were there we drove down into the village at night and watched part of a wedding ceremony, complete with dancers and a gamelan orchestra playing. Very cool! The house is remote from other attractions and town so you either need your own transportation or to arrange with Silvana and her husband to go places. If you're squeamish about bugs watch out, you are sharing the space with them :)
About the Host, Ketut, Silvana & Sam
We are Ketut and Silvana, a mixed couple ( balinese-german) and have a 7 years old son, who's called Sam. Ketut is an excellent cook, I'm an artist and both we are mind- and heartopened and love meeting people from all over the world. Our guesthouse is an open place ( it has bamboo/fabric-blinds to close for privacy and protection from wind or rain) with an open bathroom. The bedroom is a real room with walls and a big sliding door which is possible to lock. You're gonna live on 60 square meters plus a huge bathroom. So the house has plenty of space and a very nice view.
Ketut is in Bali permanently while I'm going back and forward. At the moment most of the time I'm in Germany and never really know when I'll be in Bali. But Ketut is a great host and the local guy anyway :) If you wanna get a sense of balinese lifestyle and mentality - he's the one! He will help you to get everything you need. Just remember he's doing the job on his own. So, please, communicate properly, tell him what you want and need.
