The Space

Guys Gaby here: to get a feel how close we are, look at the video http://(website hidden)/watch?v=qVzgLcDjWzY

About your room:
Please don't be put off by this listing being outside of Manhattan. We are closer to Midtown Manhattan, Times Square, Theater District, Madison Square Garden, Grand Central Empire State Building, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and Rockefeller Center than staying in other parts of Manhattan (Wall St., Upper East or West Side, above 70s... We are closer than all parts of Brooklyn and definitely way closer than staying in Queens/Bronx).

(There are two other bedrooms, which may be rented out by other guests.)

Newly decorated private brand-new condo in three-bedroom condo in Union City, NJ. Union City is on the other side of the Lincoln Tunnel and therefore very close (15 min. bus ride) to Port Authority / Times Square area. The best value for your dollar, this independent Airbnb private luxurious room in your own private apt., is simply a great commute, and your best choice to your NYC trip. 2 miles from Port Authority, 2 miles to Madison Square Garden (MSG), 2.2 miles to Times Square, and 2.3 miles to Empire State Building. Other nearby points. As our guest, during the 4th of July whoever stays in our apt. is invited to my house to the best fireworks they have ever seen.

About your accommodations:
Private luxurious room with a queen-size bed, night stands, open spacious central air and heat, beautiful hard-wood floors and exquisite mahogany color to help you relax after a day of sightseeing and shopping or whatever you please. We will welcome you with open arms, take a bath or soak in marble soaking tub with a shower head that makes you feel like you bathing in the rain. take a walk down a beautiful lit hallway to the great kitchen right out of a James Bond movie. A great experience.

Beautiful large living room with crown moldings all around you room with the views of the New York skyline as background, sit down to a glass of wine hear your favorite music, watch TV on 50" HDTV mounted on the wall for your viewing pleasure, eat a snack or whatever. This is what Dan & Gaby your hosts will provide for you. They will greet you as part of your family. If you need them or request them, they will be right there for your assistance; your privacy and accommodation will be our responsibility and our pleasure.

About the neighborhood:
The neighborhood is quiet and very nice, 100 steps from a family grocery to buy what you need. Walking distance to banks, pharmacy, and 15 minutes from midtown Manhattan (Time Square/Port Authority Bus Terminals). You'll reach Midtown faster from this location than from locations even located in Manhattan.

You'll need while away from home maps, discount tickets to your favorite plays to get you going a large stainless-steel refrigerator, microwave, toaster, two coffee makers.

ABOUT YOUR ROOM and the house:
* No physical keys, so you can come and go as you please
* Real Queen bed, very comfy and cozy.
* Spacious house
* Original wood floors
* Big backyard where you can smoke
* Free WIFI cable
* Includes all linens, blankets, towels and pillows
* Share kitchen and living room with other guests
* One private full bath, not shared with other guests
* House is on street level, so there are some stairs to walk up

* Located in Union City, NJ, a very short direct bus ride to Times Square area
* Five blocks from gorgeous Manhattan views (along Hudson River)
* Best 'cafe con leche' in town on corner. You'll wonder why you spend so much at Starbucks!
* Buses to Manhattan/Times Square run every minute during day, and every 4 minutes at night. Buses run all night.
* Great grocery and wine/liquor stores in the neighborhood including one right on the corner which is open until 11pm
* Very safe neighborhood, lots of great restaurants and bakeries but also very quiet at night.

* Private buses (we call it 'chicken bus') run 24/7 and go directly to Manhattan's Midtown / Port Authority, one block away from Times Square for $2.50 a seat. It's what all the locals use.
* City bus runs every 12 minutes to Hoboken, home of the Cake Boss and every 20 minutes (during commute hours) into Manhattan.
* Easy city bus access to Jersey Garden Outlet Mall, much closer and as good as Woodbury Commons.

Great energy and very peaceful! Feel free to message me with any questions!

  • This was my first experience using AirB&B and it worked out great! Gaby was very friendly via texts and accommodating. The place looked exactly liked the picture. Large, airy and the bathroom was very nice too. Also, Times Square is literally 10-13 minutes on the 123 bus, with the pick up being 1 block from your door. Awesome!! Union City was a nice little town, very quiet and nice, also seemed pretty safe too. I definitely would book with Gaby again! This was a great find for me! If you're going to NYC and looking a save some $$ from city prices, look no further. Great room, great price, good privacy, very close to NYC. The only things I would change would be that the ceiling fan wasn't working (probably just needed the batteries changed on the remote) which didn't really matter cause I spent all day, everyday I was there in Manhatten. Also, I wish I had known that shampoo/soap wasn't going to be provided in the bathroom or shower. However, those were two minor inconveniences, in an otherwise great experience! Thanks again, Gaby!!

  • Room is big and clean. Great value, 20 mins to port authority, other guests were courteous and stay was perfect for a quite individual. Thin walls and floors but relatively quite after 8-9 pm. Quite neighborhood at night. Pizza close by and groceries, laundry all other amenities within 2 blocks walking distance. Would stay again to visit New York. Thanks again for helping my stay feel comfortable, convenient and safe.

  • This was my first airbnb booking and it was excellent. The apartment was as in the pictures and although I never met Gaby, the communication, directions etc were very clear and helpful.
I think all the bedrooms in the modern, nicely furnished apartment are rented to guests and the biggest difference between this and a hotel is that this will save you $80 a night, if not more (a nearby hotel a 20 min walk from the apartment is at the time of writing charging $200+ a night for an equivalent room for 1 person).
Very comfortable bed, decent shower, good lounge, well stocked kitchen and a balcony.
The local area was friendly, there a few bars, restaurants, delis etc minutes away if you don't want to go far one night. To get into NY is relatively easy, about a 15-20 minute walk and then the same again on the bus (depending on traffic in the tunnel). I found it a little harder to get back, (I had no internet access on my phone and am terrible with public transport) but after a day or so I had the hang of it.
There were many useful maps, bus timetables, tourist guides, vouchers in the room and just about everything useful I could reasonably expect was there.
I landed at Newark and the taxi from there to the apt cost $60, not $45, but in hindsight it would have been fairly easy (and about $40 cheaper) to get a bus from Newark Airport to Port Authority station in NY and then back across the river to the Apartment on the 123 bus.
The only negatives were minor and I list them just to show how small they were: the front door key was a bit sketchy and I had to knock one night for another guest to let me in - it was lucky she was in. There was no iron I could find, which would have been handy (I never asked though, so there may be one there somewhere). The walls were quite thin and I could hear the neighbours kids upstairs running around sometimes, (but I think this is common in New York and it was never late at night). So as you can see, very minor compared to the plus points. The main downsides of my trip were about travel and could have been avoided with better planning on my part.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.

  • We had a rally nice time at gabys Apartment :) The suite was really nice and big! We had enough space for everything and especially theprivate bathroom was great. It was all very clean which was important to us.
Gaby answered all our questions straight away and helped us out with everything. :)
The house is a nice american house. Just keep in mind that you will hear the neighbours and they will hear you. Just take of your shoes in the apt, so that you wont have any discussion with the neighbour from downstairs ;)
The neighbourhood is also very nice and its easy to go there by bus123. The stop at 18th str is just 2min away.
We bought a ticket for 10 rides which is cheaper. (27 $ instead of 32 $) the bus also runs till late at night and we always checked the plan so that we wouldnt miss the last one.
The bus to the New Jersey Garden Mall also leaves from Unioncity. Just walk down the main street until you see 'dunkin donuts' to your right and walk left until 'fuji store' across the street near the big clock bus111 will stop. It takes ca 20 min and a ride is 3, 50 $. You should take a little trolly with you, so that you dont have to carry many bags, because you will definately buy a lot :D
I would recomend to take a taxi from and to the airport because it was quite exhausting traveling through the city with our luggage. Just make sure to take the official yellow cabs.

I really recomend this place. It was a good alternative to the very expensive hotels downtown, and you will even have more space if you book the suite!! ♥

Thanks again Gaby for letting us stay with you! We had a great time. Thanks again for your help and support.
    Yasmine :)

Gaby e Roberto são flexíveis no horário de check in e check out.

  • Had a very positive experience at this room with private bath! Very convenient location. Just follow the instruction the host left to pick up the keys and the apartment is within a short walk. Room look just like the picture in the listing. Wifi worked the whole time. The place is nice and clean. We didn't hear much from the other two rooms. Quiet neighbourhood except on Saturday nights (this is not the fault of the host). Felt very safe while in the area even at night time. A coin laundry and Chinese Take Out about two blocks away. We messaged Gaby thru Airbnb when we needed something and got instant response. Will totally stay here again! Advice to travellers - download the route 123 schedule on the NJ Transit website before leaving to find out frequency of bus and which gate at Port Authority it leaves from! Also buy your 2 zones bus tickets in advance at the machines at Port Authority so you will get a discount on multiple tickets and won't have to deal with exact change on the bus (bus will accept your $ but won't give any change).

  • Staying in Gabys flat was really great! We booked the suit and it is just as described. The room is very big, very clean, and very comfortable! The bathroom was also very clean and really nice. In the beginning it was hard for us to figure out how to get to NY and back. But it wasn´t that difficult in the end!
Gaby was very obliging as well. We had to checkout at 10 a. m. and our flight was at 11p.m. In the time between we were allowed to put our luggage at her place, which was very useful. So we were able to go to NY for the whole day. Thanks Gaby and 5 stars for your flat!

  • Staying there was great! The apartment is just as described. The room is great, big, really clean, really comfortable! The bathroom is also very nice.

It was a little hard for me to figure out how to move back and forth to NYC, but after that everything was great.

You have two main options to go to the city: taking the 123 bus, or taking the white gipsy buses. If you want to take the gipsy buses, you'll have to walk about 10-15 minutes, but they are always there - I mean always! And it's easy to get back from NYC even after hours.
If you take the 123 bus, the bus stop is really close to the house. However, you have to take a look at the bus schedule. Just ask for one at the information booth on Port Authority. They stop running at 1am.
While staying there we also met a nice couple from Cincinatti.

The communication was good and fast, although I never met my hosts personally.
