The historic St. Joseph Church is a 5 bedroom adobe structure built in 1914 by the US Cavalry. Located in Redford, TX., on the banks of the Rio Grande, 5 min. from the entry to Big Bend Ranch State park, 1 hr. from Big Bend National Park.

During your stay
I am the owner of Angell Expeditions, a guide service provider for the local parks, our HQ is across the street from the church and am available most days.

Other things to note
If you are planning a trip to the Big Bend it is advisable to be prepared with proper dress for the weather. A wide-brimmed hat, comfortable clothing, and sturdy walking shoes or boots are necessary for anyone planning to get outdoors. Sunscreen is always a must and hikers must always carry plenty of water; one gallon per person per day is recommended. Summer visitors should be aware of heat safety; like wearing clothing that protects from the sun and avoiding activity midday. Winter visitors should be prepared for anything; temperatures vary from below freezing to above 80 degrees Fahrenheit .Here is a chart of average high/low temps in Fahrenheit:

At higher elevations temps. average 5-10 degrees cooler during the day, 0-5 degrees cooler at night. The lower desert and river corridor average 5-10 degrees warmer during the day and 0-5 degrees warmer at night (except in winter when it could be 0-7 degrees cooler).
