Other Things to Note
We do not wholly exclude PETS, but considering our yards we would like to chat with you about that ahead of time. Dogs do not have free roam and will need to be on a leash and supervised in the yards during the three season grow period. Sorry. However, the park a block away is full of walkers of all species. For WINTER guests, we live on a snow-emergency route which means we are plowed first and often. Parking around the corner, only during the snow emergencies, is still close and you walk in the back way. We are always on top of snow blowing and snow emergency info.
Check-in is 3pm and check-out is 11am. No smoking indoors. Pets need to be ok'd. We expect our guests to treat our cottage with respect during their stay and leave the space tidy. We'd like to meet you but that doesn't always happen. Please communicate with us before and during your stay on your arrival time, in particular if it is late in the evening, and also let us know your possible check out time, especially if it is earlier than 11am. This helps greatly in coordinating our own schedules. Please print out your itinerary with the important phone numbers and arrival instructions.
Back bedroom, otherwise known as The Roosevelt Room. Full-size bed, two dressers, AC, rocking chair and closet. At night dark and cozy naturally.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sweet Spot! I would put it in my top 2 airbnb experiences: beautifully-maintained older house supplied with everything to make us feel at home, and kind, thoughtful and responsive hosts (Tom and Renee). I regret that the weather and other activities prevented us from using the screened-in porch and garden out back as they were so inviting. The location is around the
corner from cute Powderhorn Park and Mayday Cafe (jalapeño scones) and the area is a nice walkable neighborhood.
Many thanks again!
The Sweet Spot indeed! I am so grateful for this find. The hosts were kind and welcoming, the house was spotless, orderly, and well stocked. The binder by the entertainment center noted all of the best places to go, and gave you a sense of your bearings.
Hosts were easy to reach via text were there ever a need.
The yard was BEAUTIFUL. I brought along a hammock and spent a lot of time swaying and reading in the backyard. Very comforting space.
Neighborhood was just what I had in mind. Eclectic, diverse, safe. A lot of little mom and pop places, plenty of dining opportunities, big, huge park nearby. Plenty of things to do.
At the end of a day of adventuring, it was quite a gift to return to a place that felt so much like home.
We loved this adorable cottage surrounded by an absolutely beautiful garden of flowers. Will want to stay here again if back in the area!
Great communication with our hosts the night before our stay. The cottage directions were excellent since we had been traveling cross country to the location. The cottage was airy & inviting with open windows & fans circulating. The aroma of phlox was lovely from the garden landscaping. Two in-window air conditioners were available for just one hot & humid night and worked efficiently.
What a delightful experience! The house sits in the middle of a fragrant garden, both front and back, that greets you every time you come home. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the shower had great water pressure and hot water, and the entire house felt like my home by the time I unpacked. Amazingly, the house is nearly soundproof to traffic, which is wonderful at night. Tom--pull out those manuscripts! I'll for sure be back next summer, and I thank you for allowing me to stay in your lovely home--and for the wine and beer! Hope you liked the peaches!
Charming cottage and lots of help from Renee and Tom making our visit to Minneapolis easier - many thanks!
Renée and Tom were fantastic hosts. I could repeat all for the wonderful thing previously posted by other guests about the home and their hospitality but want to point out the things that were above and beyond any expectations we had of a host:
1) Our arrival flight was delayed and we got to the home late at night and tired. It was easy to get in the home, get settled and they even had cold beer in the fridge for us to unwind from our tumultuous travel.
2) The house was stocked with LITERALLY everything you need and probably forgot to pack. They clearly put a lot of thought into what they include in the house. Not your bare minimum by any means.
3) THE BIG ONE!!! Upon arriving at the TSA checkpoint before our flight back home I realize I left my iPad on the floor by the bed. I texted Renée to ask if she could mail it to me and without a second thought she said yes, she could mail it and also offered to drive it over to the airport for me. I had enough time to go through security again and she drove it over to me with plenty of time to spare. Above and beyond the call of duty and it saved me significant hassle.
The Sweet Spot was a fantastic location, a beautiful home, and owned by some really amazing people.
