Tub/Shower in the Bath (fresh towels, soap).

Award winning gardens surround the house and a large porch to view them by and enjoy your morning coffee or afternoon tea. I won 1st prize for my front yard in 2008 for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's City Gardens Contest. :) Forgive me, though, because I don't keep it to judge worthy standards 24/7...It's always pretty, inviting and blooming 3 seasons of the year with a weed or 10 mixed in! And don't get me started on the jungle out back but I have big plans so you'll have to come back in a year or so...

Also parking is on the street but there's always a spot right near the front door. No meters!

*NEW!!!*
There is a 3rd separate bedroom on the 3rd floor which is also available if you have a party of 5-7. The extra room has a queen bed and a twin bed

**Please see my other listing if you want to also rent the large front room for an extra cost**

Guest Access

Guests have access to the porch and gardens during the warm seasons.

Interaction with Guests

Our family lives in the house and we are always available if you need anything but we are living our lives so we let you live independently unless you want to interact.

The Neighborhood

We are in an urban city setting but also very green and tree lined in this part of town Fairmount Park and the Wissahickon Creek within walking distance. Near Philadelphia University, Temple, La Salle, Drexel Medical College, Historic sites of Germantown and Center City.

The diversity of ethnicities, socio-economics, lifestyles are featured here. You will meet lots of interesting people and add your uniqueness to our lives.

Getting around

About 25 minutes from Center City by bus or car. The train is a little quicker within 2 blocks. It's walking distance from trains and buses that reach every corner of Philadelphia and suburbs.

Other Things to Note

Also, we do have pets in the house. 2 cats and 1 Pomeranian dog. They don't live in the apartment but you will see them and definitely be greeted by Foxy the dog. :)

  • We really enjoyed staying with Candice and her mom, Nancy, who were so helpful to us in our Philly adventure. The apartment was the perfect size for us and very kid-friendly. We also loved meeting the animals - Foxy, Safire, and Ruby. Thanks Candice!

  • Candice's apartment was wonderful. My friends and I were excited to find the apartment clean, spacious, and comfortable. Candice and her mother were extremely welcoming when we arrived and flexible with our check in time (despite being late from traffic). We had no trouble finding parking either, which is a huge plus, because no one really likes looking for a parking lot. Great place, great value; I'd recommend it to anyone.

  • My parents and I stayed with Candice for one night only, but I would have loved to stay longer. She accepted our booking on very short notice, and finding the place and parking was very easy. There is lots of space which makes this also an ideal place to stay for a family. Candice provides everything you need to feel at home, including directions to local sights, shops, and restaurants.

  • You are in a 2-bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor of a gracious old duplex in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. Candice, her mother and her son (on his way off to college) were extremely kind and helpful. It's fairly easy to get to other parts of Philly from this location, but if you aren't familiar with the city BRING A GOOD MAP (or GPS)! The kitchen works, the beds are comfortable, there are toys for the kids. In August, the 3rd floor gets warm but Candice will help you massage the thermostat.

About
Hi I'm Candice! I've lived in Germantown my entire life. I am self-employed with 3 businesses now; Candice Price Garden Design, Persnickety Protein, a humanely raised and pastured food delivery, and now hostess for AirBNB to wonderful travelers in my home. I am also a mother of an extremely talented young man just come home from his first year to college. He, my mother, and I live in this 3 story Victorian. I love to create and design. I found AirBNB because I'm always on the search for cheap lodging so I can travel and explore on my limited funds. I happen to also have an apartment that I renovated in the winter of 2011/12 after our tenant of 12 years moved away. I've had so much fun doing the carpentry, plumbing and painting that I wanted to move in myself but we still need the income so AirBNB seemed a perfect solution. Something told me when we lost our tenant that something new and exciting would come from it. So far I am having so much fun! Everyone that I've hosted has been so interesting, friendly and wonderful. People I'm afraid I would never have had the chance to meet without AirBNB. So far, we've hosted well over 75 families and individuals in 2 1/2 year's time and I've met people from all over the world! Such interesting people! I especially love it when the kids come which is why I created the kid play closet inspired by a set of the cutest twins the first year. I can't wait to meet more of you travelers and help you to enjoy whatever journey you are on! Welcome!
