Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
We're conveniently located near major sporting event venues such as Game On & Coolidge Park. Plan your stay with us after the game. Spacious 2-person (possibly 3) BR in quiet rural neighborhood. Queen-size bed, TV, futon, 2 closets, and 3 shaded windows. Bathrooms & common areas are shared. You're welcome to join us for meals. Coffee & tea are available in the kitchen. Off-street parking. We are near Fitchburg State University, downtown, & close to the new Twin City Rail Trail and state parks.

The space
Well-appointed room that sleeps 2 adults comfortably. There is plenty of storage for extended stays.

We live in a 3-bedroom, 1.5-bath, two-story, cape. You're welcome to use any of the common areas to relax and enjoy your stay, such as limited use of the kitchen, living room, and backyard.

We have off-street parking and there are no parking restrictions in our neighborhood. We ask that guests be mindful of our neighbors.

Guest access
We do not have a key lockbox, so one of us will need to greet you to gain access. You will be given a key to the front door, and ask that you return it to one of us, or place it on one of the hooks under the mounted mirror in the front hallway.

During your stay
The home is spacious but is has its limits. Due to the shared bathroom situation, we may have frequent interaction. You'll have complete privacy in your room, and with a little communication we should be able to avoid bathroom conflicts.

If you're planning to go out for the evening, we can recommend places for you to go.

Other things to note
If your travel plans exceed our maximum night limit, please contact us if you're interested in staying longer. We host a number of business travelers for whom our space may be suited for long-term stays.

We strive to donate at least 10% of our Airbnb revenue to local, regional and international charitable organizations, such as The Arc of Opportunity in North Central Massachusetts, the Fitchburg Art Museum, the Fitchburg Historical Society, Goodwill, International Medical Corps, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders, Our Father's House - Fitchburg, our local NPR station - WGBH, and others.

Lives in Fitchburg, Massachusetts
Chris & Josiah have been Airbnb hosts in Fitchburg, MA since 2014. We love to travel as well and have stayed with numerous other Airbnb hosts in Canada, the US, and Europe. We bought a 3-bedroom cape-colonial in a quiet, wooded area of Fitchburg in 2016. We've hosted guests from as far away as Malaysia and as close as the next town over. An interesting fact about the type of guest we host, many are business travelers. While we don't have a business listing, we hope our space is conducive to any business traveler coming to Fitchburg for a night or multiple nights. Chris is a lifelong resident of Fitchburg, and Josiah moved here in 2009 from Boston. Chris is a licensed massage therapist and his office is in downtown Fitchburg. Josiah works for a local nonprofit organization also located in downtown Fitchburg. We enjoy the outdoors, gardening, and traveling. We often take day trips and, with Airbnb, more overnight trips. We participate in many civic and community events. Chris is also an avid cyclist. We're very familiar with the community and can recommend things to do or places to eat. We strive to use hypoallergenic cleaning products and avoid harsh chemicals in our home. We strive to mitigate our carbon footprint, too. We separate our recycling and trash and ask that guests do the same. We compost almost anything: coffee grounds, dairy, eggshells, fruit, meat, and veggies. We're not perfect - we remain cognizant of our buying habits and lifestyles on the environment. Using Airbnb is a little greener when it comes to travel and accommodation
