Very pleasant stay. The apartment is positioned in a very lively neighboorhood with a lot of good bars and restaurants! The room itself is very nice with a huge bed! Also, Nick is very flexible regarding checking in and out!
Empfehlenswert!
The room was what we expected for and more, by now there was a hairdryer too. It's nice and private, the noise from the streets in not so bad in during the week.
Only positive things come to mind really, just one tiny thing to keep in mind - you have to bring your own mugs to make a cup of tea with the kettle provided.
Good apartment well located, but as host few things need to be improved.
Nick was a great host. We arrived late on a sunday evening which was no problem for him, and he was very flexible in terms of check-out as well. Apartment is located in a very lively Shoreditch area, but the entrance to the building is code secured. The en-suite bedroom is modern for UK standards, the room/bed is big and the bathroom is clean. The room also has a seperate entrance, which makes it like staying in a seperate apartment/hotel room. As there are several bars in the street it can get loud on the weekends, as the windows are relatively thin. We didn't mind though as we were working most of the time, and for our needs it was absolutel perfect. I can definitely recommend it.
This was the second time that my husband and I stayed at Nick's flat. The first time was about a year ago, and let me tell you that since then, this flat has not been kept up or maintained in any way.
The major issue was that we were there in January, aka cold, rainy time in London, and the windows in the bedroom DIDN'T CLOSE. The handles are completely broken off, and when I alerted Nick about it he never did anything about it over our 4 night stay. This is something that you can see just looking in the room, there is NO WAY he didn't know about it beforehand. Totally unacceptable, we might as well have slept outside.
On top of that, I had to ask him to turn the heat on in the room, like it wasn't freezing enough with the windows not closing, there was zero heat. That he turned on, and then complained that it was too hot for them downstairs...
In the bathroom, there was no hot water, you have to specifically ask Nick to turn the water heater on, great, when youre naked in the tub and see that there's only freezing water and you have plans to be out.
To top it all off, it's not clean. I don't think he has a "cleaning lady" like he says. Otherwise, there wouldn't be dust bunnies on the carpet (visible), and the tub wouldn't be moldy and the hairs I saw in the bathroom while dropping off our luggage should have been gone when we came back after the cleaning lady should have passed. Seems suspicious.
Anyway, Nick needs to invest his time into making this place great again. Really disappointed with our second stay, when the first one was great, we won't be coming back here.
Nick was a great host and nothing was out of the ordinary based off the previous guest reviews. As noted, you will not have access to the downstairs flat or kitchen. Since you're on vacation, you won't really need access to the kitchen anyways. With that said, you do have a great private entrance on the floor above that is closed off from Nick's flat so you can come and go as you please. The room itself is pretty basic but again, you don't need much if you're out and about all day. The bathroom has plenty of space for your toiletries; a hair dryer and shampoo is provided which is pretty convenient. The room is a good size with ample closet space. There is a small fridge and coffee pot as well but I didn't really use it. Some have made comments about the noise level from the club and although I did hear it, it wasn't that bad but I am from NYC. There was some really loud construction once around 2 or 3 am but didn't last too long. The exchange of keys and check-in was pretty seamless and easy. As far as the neighborhood, it's in a "trendy" area, Shoreditch, and there were a lot of great pubs and shops as well as great street art and murals - there's even a Banksy mural about a two blocks away. The subway is about a 10 minute walk away and connects you to a lot of the major attractions like the London Eye, etc. pretty quickly.
Great place to stay, right in the middle of the action in Shoreditch. Very clean (perhaps the cleanest airbnb at which we have stayed), nice big bathroom, comfy bed, nice warm room. Best of all, we had a last minute change of plans and Nick made it happen on VERY short notice. I can't thank him enough for taking care of us.
Nice place with a private entry. You basically feel like you have your own apartment. The bars downstairs can be noisy on the weekend nights, but other than that it was terrific.
The only bad thing is that it is quite a noisy street, but that was expected. If you're looking for something cheap and in a good area for restaurants, bars, and clubs for just a weekend, this is for you. Nick was very nice and gave good advice for things to do in the area. Room was clean, and very private.
