Description

The space

This condo is in a small, quiet, clean brownstone building with only 8 apartments. You will have the entire apartment to yourself. The apartment will come with all the amenities. Clean sheets and bedding on a comfortable mattress with large plush pillows. Lots of available drawer space and closet space for all your personal belongings. There will be coffee with cream and sugar and other refrigerated items to make you comfortable without running out to the store. Stay for as long or as short as you wish.

The master bedroom is equipped with a queen bed and dresser. The second bedroom will have two twin beds, a dresser and closet.

Guest access

The apartment is located on the third floor with an easy two flight walk up. The neighbors are friendly and keep very much to themselves.

Interaction with guests

I will be available to my guests via call or text any time of day with questions or concerns.

The neighborhood

West New York has lots of culture and great food! It's busy Bergenline Avenue is only a few blocks away and has everything you need and more. Lots of shopping for fashions or little NY treasures. The Apartment is one short block from the police and fire station.

Getting around

There are many options to get into the city. The best option is to walk along 60th street to Boulevard East. About 8 block Walk. On the corner of 60th and Blvd East, there are the "Jitney" buses that run every five minutes right into 42nd street Times Square. All Subway Trains are right there in Times Square. The Jitney buses cost $3/person one way and they accept cash on the bus. They also run back along the same street back into NJ and they leave about every five minutes from a pick up location at 42nd street and 8th ave in Manhattan.
You also have the option of taking any of the NJTransit buses that also run the same route right into Manhattan Port Authority Bus Terminal. Bus (phone number hidden). They also accept cash on route to the city, but you must get a ticket from the machines at the port authority on the way home. I can leave bus schedules and even more specific gate instructions at the Rental.
It sounds overwhelming, but it really is not. And I am around via text message to answer any questions at any time of the day!

Public Transportation From JFK Airport:
Take the Airtran from JFK Airport to the A Train. Take the A train to Times Square 42nd Street. On the corner of 42nd and 8th Avenue is the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Buy Tickets for the NJTransit Bus #166, #165, or #168 to 60th Street and Boulevard East in West New York, NJ. Zone 2 Ticket. Go to gate…..depending on what time it is….and any of those bus #'s to 60th street. Get off bus and walk away from NYC Skyline to 326 60th Street #8.
You have made it to the rental. 20 minute bus ride with beautiful skyline view. Have your camera's ready!

Parking for guest who drive:
There is Street parking available to guests who have cars. Guest must read all street parking signs very carefully. There is street sweeping 4 days a week and your car must be moved from the street sweeping side during those hours.
Guests must purchase a 24 hour parking permit from the West New York Parking Authority which is located two blocks away from the rental. ($3 per night.) There is also a 24 hour permit parking purchase box located outside of the Parking Authority for 24 hour use. (224 60th Street West New York, NJ 07093)
I advise parking along the side streets on Palisade or Hudson street because there are no parking meters on the side streets therefore parking is free.
Parking on the main street of 60th street is allowed but you must pay the parking meter with quarters 9am-9pm. (Not recommended unless you are at the rental all day to feed the meter quarters.) After 9pm you can park at the metered spots for free but you need to move your car by the metered time in the morning or feed quarters. and Watch Out for the Street Sweeping times as well! They do apply even if you have fed quarters.
Again just read all signs carefully!

Other things to note

The keys will be located in a lockbox on the lower front railing of the rental building. I will give you the code to the lockbox a few days before your arrival. You will get the keys from the coded lockbox and let yourself in upon arrival.
Check in time is 3pm.
Check out time is 11am.

The location was great, short walk to a quick bus into city. The apartment is cute, and I would stay there again.

Great place to stay. Good value option. Although this location is outside Manhattan you will be within 15 minutes on TimesSquare by taking one of the public or private busses only 3 dollar. The view on the skyline from the NJ boulevard is amazing. Would definitely recommend staying in Purdie's place. Her communication was great

We had a lovely fortably slept the four of us - it was nice to have actual beds for everyone to sleep on, instead of fold out couches etc. For us, it was really hot at night (76-78 degrees inside), and there was no air conditioning (although this is listed in the description). Purdie suggested leaving all windows open during the day which helped slightly but we were still a bit uncomfortable until about 1am when the house cooled down. Air con will be installed in May.

This apartment is great for visiting NYC, is a good size and is well equipped. It gives great views of Manhattan when travelling over there by bus, especially at night! The buses are frequent and easy to catch from the main road that runs alongside the river, mostly every 20 mins. They go into Port Authority bus station which gets you into midtown Manhattan. A family of 4 (two kids) costs about $28 return. The master bedroom bed is really comfortable - the only downside to that room is that there is no door on it, only a curtain; so there is no privacy; but other than that, it was a good big room. The second room can accommodate two single beds; one on the floor as a truckle. There is a fair bit of road noise - but if using ear plugs; no problem. The kitchen has a fun diner-style table and bunker seat. The kids loved this. Might have been nice to have had a pint of milk left for us. The bathroom is off this room. Nothing special, but water was hot and all working OK. You have to carry your cases up a couple of flights of stairs, but it works alright. We did find quite a bit of noise from the stairwell with other people coming back and forth, but we did arrive at a weekend, so I think it is inevitable. It quietened down by Sunday. Good base for NYC and good sized space with kids as space to stretch out in various rooms. Good value for money compared with staying in the city.
