The neighborhood is generally quiet and safe. Lots of trees and greenery around and only a short walk to a duck pond which also houses Canadian geese. Cute even though it's on a main road. Also it is only a 10 minute walk to the Verde river, beautiful and always quiet.
There is no public transit here so a vehicle is needed to get around.
Absolutely no smoking or alcohol
and quiet, especially early in the morning and evening.

I enjoyed my stay at Linda's and she and her dog Gracie were very friendly hosts. Accommodations were simple and comfortable and Cottonwood is a great location for exploring the area. Make sure to understand that there's no possibility of being out after 9:00, which is too bad in an area with such great star-gazing.
Be aware that this is a twin bed in a home with a 9pm curfew. I cut short an outing with friends the first night, to abide to curfew, and then left the next day (a day early, having already paid in full), so that I could enjoy Sedona before my trip was over. I slept in my car that evening, under the stars, and was much more comfy than I had been at the house the previous night. The hostess also requests quiet from her guests but it seemed that she was not mindful about giving that luxury back to those staying with her. She woke at 5am and I could hear every door/cabinet slam, every cup/pot/pan land on the counter, and all of her conversations with her dog as she went about her morning routine. I finally got some morning sleep when she walked the dog from 8-9am and then was left in the house with music blaring (very loudly) that was left on for the dog, while she went out to run errands.
Other than errands Linda is home all day and seems to keep to herself. She is a sweet woman with good intentions, I was just not a good fit for this home's rules and guidelines.
I am sorry that Shree feels this way. All my house rules are posted on my profile page, she just had not read them. As she says she was not a good fit especially in view of the fact that she expected her dog to sleep with her on the bed that guests sleep on. I just could not allow that.
I had a brief but charming stay at Linda's. A very neat and tidy place with a beautiful, serene back yard.
Linda is wonderful, and a very fine artist, there is lots of good art on the walls and much of it is hers. The room is comfortable, and the private bath just across the hall. Read the rules before you book!
It was wonderful to stay at Linda's home. It was easy to access by local bus, the blue line from Cotton wood. Her lovely dogs, Gracie and Shadow, were welcoming me all the time. I had nice time with them. Thank you !!
Linda was very welcoming and friendly. Although she requested that guests arrive by 8pm (which I felt very reasonable), she was not rigid in any way. Her home is clean and comfortable. Her two dogs, Shadow and Gracie, are well-behaved and friendly. I would happily stay there again.
I had a lovely stay at Linda's home, it is a quite out of the busyness of the tourist hotspots. I actually preferred cottonwood over Sedona. Linda, Gracie and Shadow made me feel most welcome. Linda and I shared some wonderful travel stories :) the room was nice and private and the bathroom with towels was a treat.
Older single lady, (68), widowed, I live on my own in a nice 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house with a spare bedroom that I am willing to rent out on a temporary basis.
I am retired although for extra money I run a copy editing, typing business from home. I handle manuscripts of all genres, fiction and non fiction and also other documentation like stories, resumes etc.
I am from a suburb of London, England, emigrated to the US 18 years ago.
I am a very quiet woman and I expect anyone staying here to respect that.
I go bed very early, 9pm usually and expect my guests to understand they need to be back here before that time.
I spend as much time as I can in my back yard, either relaxing, meditating or reading.
In 1996 my late husband and I spent 6 months backpacking across the US, staying mostly in hostels and cheap motels. When we returned home we sold practically everything we owned, house, business and two thirds of our belongings and came "across the pond" straight to Flagstaff where I lived with my husband until he died in 1998/99. Then I moved down to a little place close to Cottonwood where I am now.
Prior to emigrating to the US we traveled to various destinations in Europe, Israel, Greece and Turkey.
I now am satisfied to just stay at home.
