Other Things to Note
YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN DRINKING WATER. The chalet water comes from the lake and is not suitable for drinking. If you use bottled water found at the chalet, please be sure to replace it.
There is no smoking in the chalet. Also please dispose of any cigarette butts appropriately.
The lake, canoe and pedal boat are to be used at your own risk. While four life jackets are available for adults and three for children, life jackets should always be properly sized and fitted and no guarantees are made as to the efficacy or suitability of the life jackets.
The hot water system has just been upgraded from a traditional tank system and now features a new Stiebel Eltron Tempra 12 kW whole home tankless water heater, made in Germany. This on demand hot water heater is 99% efficient and puts out up to 2.3 gallons per minute, which is suitable for having a shower, washing the dishes or running a washing machine, but not all at once. The benefit is that, as the water is heated instantly, the hot water never runs out, so guests can shower one after another with no worries that there won't be any hot water left. There is a dial on the water heater to select the temperature of the water. The dial goes from 86 to 140 degrees farenheit. The ideal temperature for a shower is generally considered to be 107 degrees.
The chalet is in a very quiet and tranquil neighbourhood, so it is not suitable for loud parties or anything of that kind. However, if you're looking to get away from it all and enjoy a natural paradise, with some peace and quiet, this chalet is ideal.
You are asked to bring your own sheets and towels to the chalet, if at all possible. Should it not be possible, sheets and towels can be provided. Please provide as much notification as possible so the items can be prepared for your arrival.
Petit chalet assez vétuste mais avec une belle situation aux pieds du lac.
Ballades en canoë appréciable.
A 30/35 min de tremblant ou du site de la diable pour les randonneurs et un peu moins du lac supérieur.
Région magnifique !
The time spent at the chalet was nice, wish I had time to enjoy the lake more. BBQ and stove worked well used them everyday. It was hard to find the chalet, even with gps it doesn't take you all the way. I arrived after it got dark it was frustrating, I almost gave up and left to check into a local motel.
My friends an I had a great time up at Michelle's cottage. We were 6 people and fit rather cosily. The view was beautiful and the paddle board was great fun. The house was basic, but had everything we needed. Great times had by all :)
Michelle was pleasant and responded to questions prior to the booking promptly. The chalet is situated at the edge of a lake as pictured in the photographs. The scenery is beautiful and the area is quiet, particularly during the week. The chalet itself is rustic, as described. The kitchen is not fully equipped for cooking meals but does have the basics.
When we arrived, the chalet had not been cleaned in quite some time and there were dirty sheets on at least two of the three the beds. Most disconcerting, someone had left open bags of snacks in the cupboard that mice had gotten into. Ketchup take-out packs were in a drawer and the mice had torn them open and made a mess. There were mouse droppings throughout the kitchen cupboards and drawers as well as in the clothing bureau drawers and on the floors of a cupboard. We contacted Michelle, who had not been aware of the state of the chalet, and she drove up to the chalet upon our request the following morning. Michelle cleaned the kitchen cupboards and took most of the kitchenware and dirty linens home with her to wash.
Once we did some further basic cleaning we were able to enjoy the rest of the week. We did not use the attic-room upstairs at all, which seems quite musty. We enjoyed sitting on the deck looking out onto the lake and canoeing. Michelle explained that the peddle boat had drifted across the lake prior to our arrival as someone forgot to tie it; we did see it when we went out in the canoe but did not retrieve it as it was swamped full of water. We had no problems using the telephone, internet or netflix. We could hear the mice in the walls at night but did not see them, and were very careful to store everything edible in the refrigerator. We took the time to leave the chalet significantly cleaner than how we found it.
I really appreciate the honest feedback. Unfortunately my regular cleaning lady had not been available on this occasion. I will confirm that she is available to clean the chalet thoroughly for any future bookings. Having stayed at the chalet with my family for an extended period of time after this booking, we neither heard nor saw any further evidence of mice or other animals.
Michelle is a great host! We had a very relaxing stay at the chalet. We enjoyed the scenery and the wildlife!
