The Space

Beautiful, fully equipped, modern home on quiet leafy road. 30 mins to city centre, 5 mins to beach, 2 mins to top of the hill with 360 views of the mountains, the city and the Irish Sea. The house is situated on the edge of the quaint village of Dalkey, A perfect location!

Guest Access

The guests have access to all areas of the house and garden. The house has a lounge, kitchen/dining room, downstairs wc, utility/cloakroom. playroom/study/4th bedroom,(which has a double bed/sofa). Upstairs has a family bathroom, airing cupboard (containing bed linen and towels). There are 3 bedrooms, one with a small en-suite.
The back garden has a deck with barbeque and seating. There is a patio at the bottom of the garden with table and chairs. There is also a swinging seat for you to relax on!

Interaction with Guests

I will meet you upon arrival and help get you settled in. I can advice about what to see and do during your stay as its important to me that you have a great time! I can be reached by phone and email to answer any queries you might have.

The Neighborhood

I live on the outskirts of Dublin's fair city , with all the buzz of city life.
I like to go for walks in my neighbourhood. On my walk to the beach, I pass the homes of the rich and famous ie. Bono, the Edge, and Enya's castle!
I have often watched the dolphins playing in the ocean! I love to walk back along the coast which has been compared to The Amalfi Coast of Italy, past more famous homes to the heritage village of Dalkey, with its castle, quaint shops, pubs and restaurants.
Other times I walk to the top of Killiney Hill where there are breath-taking views in all directions towards the city, the port and the ocean. There is a great play area for children too.

Getting around

Public transport is easy. There are buses into the city centre (30mins away). A nicer way to travel is by the little electric train, known as The Dart, which follows the coast, past Dun Laoghaire port and Sandymount strand.
Dublin is an easy city to get around, either walking or on the "hop on hop off" bus. The list is endless of things to see and do there.

Other Things to Note

If, however, the mountains, the beaches and lakes are your thing, they are within easy reach of my home. Just a few minutes down the motorway and you are in the Wicklow mountains, which is a walkers paradise.

  • Ann was an amazing host. Not only was her house spotless and comfortable, she met us upon our arrival and gave us personal instructions to everything. She also had instructions written and posted on the fridge for all the basics, and even a helpful map with the closest grocery store and other landmarks. A box of other books and maps for the country and region were super helpful as well - we contributed a map of our own that we picked up during our explorations. The location of Ann's home is beautiful, convenient to public transport, and her residential street is tree-lined and quiet. The beds and linens were super comfortable. In truth, we could not have felt more at home. Ann's back yard is simply lovely - a beautiful. well-tended, flowering garden. We had many an afternoon tea outside in the back yard, and became fans of chocolate digestive biscuits from the local grocery store. Ann's full, modern kitchen was generously stocked with staples, had every dish and plate you could desire, and all the appliances were clean and easy to use. What you see in the pictures is really what you get - and more. The town where the house is located is also an amazing historical place to visit just by itself. Go do the historic Dalkey Castle tour, it is wonderful for kids and adults alike. Visit the local beach with its stunning cliff staircase down to the rugged, rocky, and sandy beach where local kids jump into the water from the rock pier. Take the DART a few stops south to Bray and walk the seaside, go to the aquarium, and have lunch outside watching the people go by. Dublin is a 20 minute train ride away to the north, where we walked the city and did the Guinness Factory Tour. We also had the best dinner of our European trip (including Germany and England) at a cafe in Dublin. Oh - and you must drive the Wicklow Mountains and meet the sheep amid the heather. Everyone in Ireland was so friendly and helpful, from Ann to the car rental, the train booth person to the grocery store clerks and friendly bookstore in town. We were even there for the annual book festival, where famous authors (Salman Rushdie! Rory Sutherland! Joseph O'Connor! Ian Robertson!) discuss and debate topics of the day. The Dalkey Book Festival is like the New York Times Book Festival but much, much smaller and more approachable. If you are a literary fan, go to Dalkey during this festival. We needed more time in this beautiful country to explore it, five days just wasn't enough. We plan to come back and will definitely stay with Ann if her home is available, as it was a truly wonderful place. Forget the hotels - this is the way to travel!

  • Ann was nothing short of an exceptional host. She was incredibly thoughtful, thorough, and friendly. She was also very responsive and went above and beyond time and again to ensure that our stay was a pleasant one.

We were three couples, plus one toddler this trip. Ann made sure that there was a high chair, books, and toys for the baby - wow! She also arranged for a cab to pick us up at the airport.

The house was lovely, clean, and bright. We found Ann's home even better than described, with plenty of room to spread out (including a big, fenced backyard!). The kitchen was very well-equiped and there was even a full laundry room. The house was within easy walking distance of the restaurants and pubs of downtown Dalkey and the local rail system (DART) that takes riders into downtown Dublin.

  • We were a family of 7 staying in this nice family house. With four bedrooms, three bathroom's and a nice garden. Peaceful and friendly area. About 15 mins to DART station and grocery store.
Of course we can't forget too give enough credit to Ann, our kind and friendly host.

  • Ann is a really great host and she takes care about her guests.

She were available, flexible, welcoming and she gave us a lot of useful information during our stay.

There was plenty of space in the house what was perfect for our 7 people group. Also, the neighbourhood was peaceful. We spent 5 lovely days in Ann's house.

I recommend without any hesitation Ann as host.

  • We booked Ann's place for a family holiday to attend a wedding in Ireland and the house was absolutely perfect for our needs. We were 6 adults and a toddler and there was plenty of space for us all. Ann met us on our arrival and welcomed us, making sure we had everything we might need and a good overview of the locality.

The house itself is beautifully finished and equipped to a very high standard, everything spotlessly clean and in good working order. Nice kitchen and dining area, lounge and bedrooms. The garden was beautiful and our little boy loved playing outside. There is a big TV in the lounge which was perfect for watching Celtic qualifying for the Champions League group stages.

The house is close to the DART station to get to town, not far from Dalkey and Dun Laoghaire with their nice selection of shops, cafes and restaurants . There is a small supermarket a short walk away.

There are numerous nice places to walk nearby, we did morning jogs in Killiney Hill Park which is lovely and has great views over Dublin and the Wicklow mountains. It is about a 5k run from the house to the top of the hill in the park and back home. Alternatively it is about the same distance to run down to the seafront and to the pier in Dun Laoghaire and back up.

We had a great 5 days staying here, with lovely weather as well! Would love to stay here again and highly recommend Ann's house and warm welcome!

  • We spend a month in Dublin at Ann's house and it was magical. The house is in a great location, close to Dalkey village and the DART. My two sons made friends with the neighbor kids and loved it. Thank you Ann!

  • My family of five, including three young children, stayed at Ann's house for one week. It was a lovely start to our holiday. the house was so warm, clean and cosy. Ann was a lovely hostess, so welcoming and provided great information about the local area. The house is in a lovely area, very quiet and completely safe. We caught the DART home from Dublin late at night and it felt so safe and secure. The area is very child friendly with great parks and places to eat. The house itself is very large, with plenty of bathrooms, and so beautifully decorated and furnished. Having WIFI and cable TV was brilliant as well. I would recommend this house to anyone with no hesitation.

  • We came back to visit family and we couldn't have picked a more perfect home or location. The house was warm and cosy upon our arrival and we had organized for some groceries to be delivered prior to us landing which Ann accommodated with no problem at all. The house is gorgeous, incredibly clean and perfect for our family of five. We also had to extend our holiday by an extra day at the end due to illness and Ann, very kindly, managed to give us an extra night. A fantastic family home, (email hidden) we couldn't recommend it more highly.
