Interaction with Guests
I will meet you upon arrival and help get you settled in. I can advice about what to see and do during your stay as its important to me that you have a great time! I can be reached by phone and email to answer any queries you might have.
I live on the outskirts of Dublin's fair city , with all the buzz of city life.
I like to go for walks in my neighbourhood. On my walk to the beach, I pass the homes of the rich and famous ie. Bono, the Edge, and Enya's castle!
I have often watched the dolphins playing in the ocean! I love to walk back along the coast which has been compared to The Amalfi Coast of Italy, past more famous homes to the heritage village of Dalkey, with its castle, quaint shops, pubs and restaurants.
Other times I walk to the top of Killiney Hill where there are breath-taking views in all directions towards the city, the port and the ocean. There is a great play area for children too.
Public transport is easy. There are buses into the city centre (30mins away). A nicer way to travel is by the little electric train, known as The Dart, which follows the coast, past Dun Laoghaire port and Sandymount strand.
Dublin is an easy city to get around, either walking or on the "hop on hop off" bus. The list is endless of things to see and do there.
Other Things to Note
If, however, the mountains, the beaches and lakes are your thing, they are within easy reach of my home. Just a few minutes down the motorway and you are in the Wicklow mountains, which is a walkers paradise.
Treat my home as you would yours.....with respect and care!
Ann was a fabulous host and was excellent at communicating and accommodating our early arrival. She was quick to get back to us with any question that we had. My husband and I and our two boys stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. The house is cosy and has a great and comfortable sitting room that we enjoyed on many nights with a lovely fire. The kitchen is easy to cook in and it's a nice open plan to the dining room. The house is located within a 15 minute walk to the DART station and 20 minutes for the lovely town of Dalkey with great shops and restaurants. The other great bonus is the proximity to the beautiful walk up at Killiney hill. Wonderful stay overall - thank you!!
We were 7 people to stay in Ann's house for just 4 days. The house is perfectly located, just 10 minutes from Gleneagary's DART station. From there you can travel to any Dublin area, along the DART line. Ann's house is wonderful, well equipped but most of all, you feel instantly at home. Ann was very dedicated, calling or texting us regularly to make sure we did need or miss anything. Thank you again Ann for the warm welcome!8
Ann was very gracious in welcoming us into her home. She took time to explain the intricacies of the heating and water heating to us and to tell us about the area. We used her suggestion and visiting The Queens Pub as soon as we got settled in and it was wonderful. We love Dalky and truly enjoyed the area. We used the well-stocked kitchen to cook several meals and enjoyed having a place to rest between our site seeing and events we had scheduled. The house was wonderful.
We had a wonderful stay at Dalkey. Ann warmly welcomed us and facilitated to our varying group, which included at its most five children. The house was perfect for our little team of sailors and conveniently located near the Dun Laoghaire sailing center. Ann's house was tidy and comfortable and located in a beautiful and quite area only ten minutes from the Dalkey village center with nice shops and restaurants. We made nice walks to the mountains and by the water-front. Ann was a great and caring host. Thanks Ann!
Ann was an amazing host. Not only was her house spotless and comfortable, she met us upon our arrival and gave us personal instructions to everything. She also had instructions written and posted on the fridge for all the basics, and even a helpful map with the closest grocery store and other landmarks. A box of other books and maps for the country and region were super helpful as well - we contributed a map of our own that we picked up during our explorations. The location of Ann's home is beautiful, convenient to public transport, and her residential street is tree-lined and quiet. The beds and linens were super comfortable. In truth, we could not have felt more at home. Ann's back yard is simply lovely - a beautiful. well-tended, flowering garden. We had many an afternoon tea outside in the back yard, and became fans of chocolate digestive biscuits from the local grocery store. Ann's full, modern kitchen was generously stocked with staples, had every dish and plate you could desire, and all the appliances were clean and easy to use. What you see in the pictures is really what you get - and more. The town where the house is located is also an amazing historical place to visit just by itself. Go do the historic Dalkey Castle tour, it is wonderful for kids and adults alike. Visit the local beach with its stunning cliff staircase down to the rugged, rocky, and sandy beach where local kids jump into the water from the rock pier. Take the DART a few stops south to Bray and walk the seaside, go to the aquarium, and have lunch outside watching the people go by. Dublin is a 20 minute train ride away to the north, where we walked the city and did the Guinness Factory Tour. We also had the best dinner of our European trip (including Germany and England) at a cafe in Dublin. Oh - and you must drive the Wicklow Mountains and meet the sheep amid the heather. Everyone in Ireland was so friendly and helpful, from Ann to the car rental, the train booth person to the grocery store clerks and friendly bookstore in town. We were even there for the annual book festival, where famous authors (Salman Rushdie! Rory Sutherland! Joseph O'Connor! Ian Robertson!) discuss and debate topics of the day. The Dalkey Book Festival is like the New York Times Book Festival but much, much smaller and more approachable. If you are a literary fan, go to Dalkey during this festival. We needed more time in this beautiful country to explore it, five days just wasn't enough. We plan to come back and will definitely stay with Ann if her home is available, as it was a truly wonderful place. Forget the hotels - this is the way to travel!

My apartment is located in leafy Ballsbridge, which is a great location for walking into the City centre. There are great pubs and restaurants on my doorstep! Also public transport is close by which gets me to other parts of the city and surrounding areas.
When not enjoying all the numerous delights that the city has to offer, I love to go on the little train called "The Dart" and travel 30mins to Dalkey and Killiney beach to the south as well as Malahide and Howth to the north. I have often watched the dolphins playing in the ocean! When at Killiney, I love to walk along the coast road which has been compared to The Amalfi Coast of Italy, past lots of famous homes to the heritage village of Dalkey, with its quaint shops, pubs and restaurants.
Other times I go uphill to the top of killiney hill where there are breath-taking views in all directions.
Dublin is an easy city to get around. The list is endless of things to see and do there! However if the mountains and lakes are your thing, they are within easy reach of my home. Just a few mins down the motorway and you are in the Wicklow mountains, which is a walkers paradise and steeped in history.
I love to travel to other parts of the world and I use Airbnb when I can!
