B&B VENEZIA - Corte Vecchia
A neighbour told us that once among the Venetian nobles reigned an unwritten rule of mutual aid whereby, if a woman was left widowed and without substance, she was granted a residence where she could stay with her children and servants, keeping the family lifestyle unchanged.

It seems that our house was among those used for this purpose. We do not know if this is true, but we like to think that there is a story to tell;-)

Concerning us ... we are both architects and our story began when we decided to look for a bigger place to live, determined to remain in Venice, because we simply love its unique atmosphere and lifestyle, and know that these are things we would not find anywhere else.

And so our search began! At one point we found the place of our dreams but it was way too big for us. We kept searching.
But no matter what property we viewed, we kept thinking about that special, quiet, but way too big place, the one that was central but off the beaten track, and yet just around the corner of places like the Accademia, the Guggenheim Museum, the Pinault Gallery, the Salute and livelier places like Campo Santa Margherita.
In the end we came up with an unexpected solution: we could open a B&B. And that's how the 'way too big place' of our dreams was realised.
So if you are looking for a place where you'll be able to experience the authentic side of Venice, then we'll be delighted to welcome you in our home and share some of our life in Venice with you.

As in all true B & B, we owners live in the building, but we designed the space in order to ensure total privacy and comfort both for our guests and for us.
The three bedrooms (two doubles and one single) are equipped with private bathroom, heating, air conditioning, electric kettle, espresso machine, free WiFi, hair drier.
The rich breakfast served in your room is included in the price.
Small pets allowed with prior notice.

About the ROOM CORTE VECCHIA ROSSA:
The term Corte (court) in Venice suggest a little square enclosed by house walls, detached from the main road and mostly without outlet. In the most popular areas of the city women used to sit in corte, just beyond the threshold of the house, doing a variety of household activities such as cleaning vegetables or fish, sewing or doing embroidery, while chatting and exchanging gossip . The courts are still used by most private neighbouring inhabitants as an extension outside their home. This room overlooks the quiet Corte Vecchia (old court) and its main colour is Venetian red. This is a double bedroom and in a corner there is an area for your breakfast, unless you decide to have it in bed. The room has got an en suite bathroom.

  • Antonella and Mauro are gracious hosts with helpful suggestions on restaurants, museums and galleries. Thank you both.
The accommodation, whilst compact especially for travellers like us with luggage appropriate for a month's holiday, with as in line with our expectations.
The location is excellent, very close to the Guggenheim, Academia Bridge, and with a range of water bus options.

  • Our stay with Antonella and her lovely family was wonderfull! Beautiful room, you could tell that this was carefully decorated by two architects. Lovely area. Very quit, this area is away from the tourists and you can enjoy Italian life and a good rest. If I could I would have stayed for several more weeks! Antonella, thank you for everything.

  • I recommend Antonella's place. It's cosy, clean and well decorated.
You feel at home immediately and Antonella is the right (and professional) guide to let things go smooth and efficient. Thanks!

  • Very personable and adorable little B & B. The breakfast was delicious and the croissants so fresh! We could hear the church bells from our room which was lovely.
Very good location and easy to find once you have found it the first time!
The only slight issue (well not even issue) we had was a family staying across the hall from us. Their child was loud when we were trying to sleep in. Not that that is any fault of the B & B!
    Would definitely recommend.

    Thomas

  • We cannot say enough about how perfect our stay in Venice was. Upon arrival we were welcomed by Antonella who gave us a map and helpful advice about what to see and described their favorite neighborhood restaurants. Our second floor room had windows that we could open but it also had it's own quiet climate control unit that allowed us complete comfort in the August heat. The decor gave the sense of old Venice but the modern bathroom gave us all the creature comforts that we are used to, including a heated towel rack. We had our own key to the room and the house that allowed us to come and go as we liked. Further, Antonella and Mauro have a system of providing a substantial breakfast on a trolley that magically appeared outside our bedroom door at 8am each day. We could either eat in the common room or roll the trolley into our bedroom (which we did) and eat with more privacy. An in-the-room coffee maker and water heater allows you to prepare hot drinks at any time. The neighborhood is quite close to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum yet wonderfully quiet day and night. We wholeheartedly recommend staying with Antonella.

  • We had a fantastic time at Corte Vecchia and I am glad this is the place where we decided to stay for our long weekend in Venice ! The location is perfect if you're looking for a quiet area in this busy city and we could walk everywhere easily from the B&B. Our double room was very comfortable and clean. It was lovely to come back for a little siesta when the weather was to hot and then have a coffee using the Nespresso machine ! Every morning, our delicious breakfast was left outside our bedroom by Miss Rafaella: croissant, fruit, bread, jam, yoghurt, milk, coffee, juice and a traditional Italian biscuit! She cleaned the room every morning and although she didn't speak any English, it was very easy to understand her. Because of our busy life, we didn't have much time to prepare what we were going to do in Venice but the common area on the first floor of the B&B offered plenty of brochures as well as travel guides and beautiful books about Venice. There was also a laptop we could use to check the reviews & location of restaurants. Although we didn't meet Antonella as she was away for her summer holiday, she had been in touch beforehand and replied to our emails promptly (even before we booked our room). She gave us plenty of details to find the B&B which was great as Venice is full of tiny streets and she also recommended places where we go for dinner and things to do around Venice. Don't hesitate to stay at Corte Vecchia if you visit Venice !

About
In the historical center of Venice my husband Mauro and I will be happy to welcome you to our Bed and Breakfast. We are both architects and the transformation of our house into a B & B was our first working venture together. Amazingly we never argued about the color of the curtains .... See you there!
