B&B VENEZIA - Corte Vecchia
A neighbour told us that once among the Venetian nobles reigned an unwritten rule of mutual aid whereby, if a woman was left widowed and without substance, she was granted a residence where she could stay with her children and servants, keeping the family lifestyle unchanged.
It seems that our house was among those used for this purpose. We do not know if this is true, but we like to think that there is a story to tell;-)
Concerning us ... we are both architects and our story began when we decided to look for a bigger place to live, determined to remain in Venice, because we simply love its unique atmosphere and lifestyle, and know that these are things we would not find anywhere else.
And so our search began! At one point we found the place of our dreams but it was way too big for us. We kept searching.
But no matter what property we viewed, we kept thinking about that special, quiet, but way too big place, the one that was central but off the beaten track, and yet just around the corner of places like the Accademia, the Guggenheim Museum, the Pinault Gallery, the Salute and livelier places like Campo Santa Margherita.
In the end we came up with an unexpected solution: we could open a B&B. And that's how the 'way too big place' of our dreams was realised.
So if you are looking for a place where you'll be able to experience the authentic side of Venice, then we'll be delighted to welcome you in our home and share some of our life in Venice with you.
As in all true B & B, we owners live in the building, but we designed the space in order to ensure total privacy and comfort both for our guests and for us.
The three bedrooms (two doubles and one single) are equipped with private bathroom, heating, air conditioning, electric kettle, espresso machine, free WiFi, hair drier.
The rich breakfast served in your room is included in the price.
Small pets allowed with prior notice.
About the room CORTE VECCHIA VERDE
The room, distinguished by the green tones, overlooks Rio Tera San Vio through the main façade of the house. The term "Rio Tera," which literally translated from Venetian means "buried canal", entered in the local toponymy to indicate a road built on the site of one of the many canals of Venice, which in this case was a branch of the San Vio canal.
This spacious room will allow you to choose two single beds or one double bed and, if necessary, to add a free cot. Two chairs and a table create a cosy corner to have your breakfast, read or just relax. The bathroom is private and can be accessed from outside the room (it is not en suite).
Please note that the price does not include the new City Tourism Tax, established by the City of Venice from 24 August 2011. For B&Bs the Tax is Euro 3,00 or 2,40 per day per person, according to the season. You'll pay the tax on arrival.
For detailed information you can visit the City of Venice official website .(website hidden)
Smoking is not allowed..
In the house also lives a little dog called Pia.
Your pets are welcome with prior notice.
Our stay at Corte Vecchia added to the overall magic we experienced in Venice. The apartment is warm and inviting and very well done up! The location is fantastic and hardly 5 minutes walk from Accademia. The breakfast was delicious and the croissants were to die for!!
The hosts, Antonella and Mauro were wonderful and very helpful. Mauro was kind enough to fetch us when we got lost :)
We had a lovely chat with Antonella on our last day and also had the chance to meet their son Augusto, who's simply adorable.
Thankyou A&M, definitely recommend this BnB to everyone. We will be going back for sure!
We spent a wonderful weekend at Corte Vecchia in Venice. Our room and bathroom were as beautiful and pristine as they appear to be in the photographs. We liked being in the Dorsoduro neighbourhood very much and were grateful for the tips on Venice that Antonella shared with us before our arrival. We especially enjoyed our breakfast cart, laden with croissants, toast, butter and jams, muesli with yogurt or milk, juice, and lots of teas to choose from. We missed meeting Antonella, because she was away on vacation too, but were well taken care of by her staff. Thank you, Corte Vecchia, for a lovely weekend!
Our stay at Corte Vecchia was just lovely. Antonella and Mauro couldn't have been nicer and our room was beautiful. The location was great - an easy stop off the 5.1/5.2 vaporetto line, but still a distance from the typical touristy crowds. Really a terrific spot - so much better than a hotel in my opinion. Homey and sweet - the perfect stay in Venice. Thank you Antonella and Mauro for making our short stay a great one!
A great place to stay! Antonella and Mauro were great hosts. The room was lovely, clean and well located. Antonella and Mauro were very helpful with communication prior to arrival as well as recommending great places to visit and eat while in Venice.
This is a wonderful and cozy B&B in an ideal location-- near the Guggenheim and a short walk or waterbus ride from major sites, but on a quiet residential street. Antonella and Mauro are gracious hosts, who gave me a warm welcome, good recommendations for n'hood food options, and prepared a nice breakfast too! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly.
Our stay at Antonellas apartment was great! She was very friendly and gave us good advice about restaurants. The location of the apartment is very good. It is in walking distance to the Accademia and to the Zattere, where you can find a lot of restaurants. It is also possible to walk to San Marco.
The room was nice and clean. To have the breakfast in our room was a great way to start the day. Thanks to Antonella for the wonderful stay. If we ever visit Venice again, we will definitely come back.

In the historical center of Venice my husband Mauro and I will be happy to welcome you to our Bed and Breakfast. We are both architects and the transformation of our house into a B & B was our first working venture together. Amazingly we never argued about the color of the curtains ....
See you there!
