Cool chic self contained beach front apartment in Anzio Italy. Only a two minute walk from the beaches of the mediterranean and a 45 minute train journey to Rome....Enjoy a day sightseeing the stunning city of Rome and then enjoy an evening eating al fresco on the beach!
The apartment has recently had a lot of work carried out on it to make it more comfortable for our guests. We have now fitted an electric skylight window and mosquito frames across all the windows allowing you to leave the doors and windows open without risk of being bitten! There is a fan in the bathroom and a new floor, a new wardrobe and a light outside for guests to enjoy eating al fresco. We also have painted the walls in the courtyard and fitted a gorgeous double hammock. As soon as we have the new photos we will be able to add them here.
There is no wireless in the property but down the steps to La Scialuppa right on the beach at Silvio's place they have wireless and really great coffee. If you tell Silvio you are staying at Marco and Martina's place he may be very lovely and give you a discount on the use of the sun loungers for your stay.
Both Rome airports are approximately an hour away, the railway station is a 15 minute drive and the port of Anzio is also a 15 minute drive. Around the apartment are bars and restaurants of all types including great pasta and pizzerias and on the beach fresh fish restaurants. There is a supermarket within walking distance and a fresh fruit and veg stall.
The beach has all the usual amenities including sun-beds and umbrellas for hire.
This apartment is a private haven with immediate access to the beach, with a courtyard garden and a sea view from the window it has all the amenities of a home from home. The port of Anzio is less than a ten minute drive away and has plenty of bars and people watching opportunities and there is a regular boat ride to the stunning island of Ponza.
Whether you are looking for a romantic hideaway or a soothing home to come back to after sightseeing in Rome all day this is the place for you!
Martina sent us a lot of details about the cottage and some recommendations about the restaurants and the area before we arrived.
The cottage was so adorable! Shabby chic and perfect for a little getaway. Good shower and warm water, which isn't always obvious in Italy. :) In late September the temperature didn't rise too high inside during the day, although there was an air conditioning as well. We had a little problem to find the keys at first, because it was really dark outside at the time we arrived.
Some restaurants and cafés near the beach were closed and the beaches were almost empty because it wasn't a high season anymore. I think during a high season the area will be more lively, but if you need a little getaway just the two of you, I recommend to go there on September. Weather is still nice and warm and the place is not crowded.
AMAZING! Loved the wonderful house, location and very nice contact with Martina. Good food around Anzio, nice beach, nice people.
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
the surf house is really something special) well refurnished and fulfieled with interesting accessories - you'll have even torpedo :)
the best for young and romantic couples - hope to come back there sometime. Martina was in touch every minute ready to help)) Thank you for that great week
The apartment is really nice and it's quite close to the sea. In the kitchen, there is everything you need and enough space to cook. At the forecourt there is a table and the possibility to have dinner and breakfast outside. There is even a window where you can watch the stars while lying in bed! :-) - Very romantic beach house.
Oh wow ! We arrived in beaming sunshine and with great excitement we spotted Martina's cute surf shack tucked behind its private gate. It's SO close to the sea !!
It is within 5 minutes walk of the beach and plenty of nearby restaurants, bars, food shops, post box, and Wifi.
M's recommendations for aperitivi and good places to eat in Anzio were spot on ( and I'm really fussy !) with the freshest fish you'l ever eat straight off the boats in the harbour.
I think you do need to hire a car for the best fun. But you can happily chill out ( and eat/drink) locally if you don't have one.
We did a short day trip to historic hill town Sermonetta and a to look at some Roman ruins which was a brief change from sand and sea, but got back in time for a good sunbathe in the late afternoon heat before our sundowners on the terrace.
The "shack" is well organised, comfortable, and has a simple mix of shabby chic and functional decor...(email hidden) player/ radio ( loved Radio 93)! ..The kitchen is basic but clean and had everything we needed to eat in most nights- so many wonderful fresh and local ingredients which we found at the small shops and the Wednesday market nearby. We bought a small kitchen knife ( please leave it for the next person !) and took with us a case full of cheeses, artisan pasta and many wonderful memories.
Thank you M for providing a base for our fun fun 'Roman Holiday'
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The apartment is newly refurbished and very nice, despite it is a bit dark . It is very close to the beach. The owner is very kind and helpful : she provided us with a range of information about the town of Anzio, beaches, restaurants and so on. The location is quiet and is ideal for an escapade from the chaos of city life.
