This location enjoys a mild temperate climate.
In summer, fog is frequent, and it usually appears in the morning, thins out or disappears during the day, and comes back in the afternoon. So within one single day, the temperature contrasts can be sharp and we advise you to bring enough clothes (light sweater, thick jacket).
The ocean’s water is too cold to bathe.
Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the house. Ashtrays are provided outdoor. No loud noises. Large parties are not permitted. PETS are permitted only with prior approval. Pets are not allowed on furniture at any time. Responsible pet owners only.
We had a most amazing time at Thea's beautiful retreat to start off 2015! This house is truly a home--as Thea told us, she had everything we could ever think of, from kitchen supplies to heated floors and an outdoor grill. We had a minor plumbing problem the day we arrived, but it was resolved within hours, thanks to Thea's quick help. We cannot recommend this home enough for a convenient northern California stay, and we hope to return very soon!
We had a wonderful time in Mill Valley. The house exceeded our expectations and we would love to stay there again. Our host was attentive and made our stay very pleasant. Thank you Thea for all your kindness
We just got home from our fantastic trip to Mill Valley and enjoyed everything. Our host Thea was fantastic at answering questions and replying to emails quickly. The house is very well appointed and was very clean. The kitchen is great and has everything you could possibly need. We were travelling with grandma and two children aged 3 yrs and 9 months and we had plenty of space for everyone. My 3 yr old LOVED the property, playing in the garden and especially the playground right outback. You are close to everything and the parks are amazing. We will definitely stay at Thea's house again.
The homeowner, Thea, made us feel welcome on our arrival by texting and emailing us to ensure we had no problems and that everything was to our liking. The home is conveniently located. This family of five (3 children ages 7, 5, and 2) enjoyed having Mill Valley as our home base for our Bay Area adventures (we liked being able to venture into San Francisco and Berkeley during the day and returning in the evenings to this home away from home). Marin/Mill Valley itself has much to offer and actually some of our best moments from the vacation were spent hiking in Muir Woods National Forest (just a short drive up the road from the house) and biking around Angel Island (just a short ferry ride from the adjacent town of Tiburon). The home is just as described. It presents a great first impression (inside and out). The home is very clean (passes what I would say are our high cleanliness standards), comfortable, well-maintained, and well-equipped. The kitchen is very modern (enjoyed the espresso maker). The owner is is highly responsive to any needs (we experienced a problem with the DISH-TV service and she made sure to connect us straight away with a DISH technician to solve the issue). We also took advantage of the NETFLIX provided on the living room "smart TV". Our children absolutely loved the neighborhood park just beyond the backyard. Overall this was a great home and neighborhood for our family. Absolutely no complaints--we had a very pleasant stay and would (and hope to) stay here again.
There are many things my family and I loved about this listing beginning with the host. Thea is a warm, inviting and thoughtful person. Her house is clean, comfortable and very kid friendly. Our party was mom&dad, baby and grandma.
The kitchen, bathroom, living room are all updated. The space is open floor plan which is perfect for enjoying dinners with our small family although the large barn style kitchen table can seat more.
2 bedrooms with queen bed. 1 bathroom. Clean sheets and towels provided.
Laundry room with modern washer/dryer.
Large mounted Samsung Smart TV 55"(i think) included HBO, Netlix, Youtube - and of course fast Wifi. The windows and shutters provided for plenty of daylight, and large glass patio doors lead to an oasis of a garden. We spent a lot of time in the back yard. There is a fig and pear tree (this is not a typo), with fruit that was fresh to pick and eat all day long - our type of living.
There is also a pesticide free childrens park directly behind the property which we spent at least 1-2 hours every day there with our son. The garden is completely private, invisible to all neighbors, a true oasis and very relaxing, whether having morning caffe' or sipping your afternoon aperitivo.
This property was just very well thought out and comfortable with all modern updates. Even the lights in house were all dimmable to set just the right mood any time of day.
You need a car for this location if you want to get around. Plenty of parking. Traffic was almost non-existent but we werent commuting to work. 15 min drive to Muir National Redwood forest, 8-10 min drive to Sausalito, 15 min to cross the Golden Gate and be in the Presidio.
5 min walk to Starbucks, Walgreens, local diner, shops. 10 min drive to get into the center of Mill Valley where its more of a proper center of town, there you can find it all and so can google.
45 min to Sonoma. 1hr to Napa.
Tons of other things to do and the host Thea would be happy to assist if you have questions.
Home and Host are very airbnb friendly and will definitely recommend to friends and family.
Thea was warm and welcoming from our very first interaction via the Airbnb site. They say houses are a reflection of their owners, so it came as no surprise that her home was warm and welcoming too. It had a comfortable and relaxed vibe, and its cleanliness and condition were impeccable. There was a cozy living area with a leather couch+ottoman, sleeper sofa and an electric reclining sofa. This opened into a light and airy dining room with three sets of French doors that looked out onto a peaceful backyard patio/garden with all manner of fruit trees and flowers. The kitchen was sizable and furnished with state-of-the-art Bosch appliances. Two queen bedrooms lay at opposite ends of a short hallway also shared by a nearly spotless bathroom.
The house's location couldn't be more ideal. We did Marin Headlands one day, Muir Woods and Stinson Beach another (with Thea even recommending good parking near the more secluded end of the beach), and Point Reyes National Seashore on a third day. The city is just minutes away over the Golden Gate Bridge, too, though we chose to focus on Marin County sightseeing for this visit. With accommodations this nice, however, I could see us making a return visit quite soon...
House was great - clean, lots of room, fully equipped kitchen. The garden was a nice sanctuary. Kids loved the playground. Thea was also responsive to our questions. Location was ideal for both city & nature trips.
