Loft with pool in Trastevere, Rome

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Via del Mattonato, Rome, Lazio 00153, Italy

The Space

Delightful studio apartment located in an ancient Convent. The Condo has a shared garden featuring also a swimming pool, quite uncommon in the very heart of Trastevere.

Trastevere is a beautiful and typical neighborhood, with plenty of historical beauties such as Santa Maria in Trastevere, Santa Cecilia, Ponte Sisto and very vibrant at night, with bars and excellent restaurants.

The property is located just a few steps (not even ten minutes walking) from Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, Pantheon and Gianicolo, where you can enjoy the best view of the Eternal City.

The apartment is located in a quiet street, and it provides all the comforts. It features beautiful wooden beamed ceilings, a chimney and a splendid private patio with table and chairs, just outside the living area.
On a warm night sipping a glass of red wine on the patio is the best experience!

Off the main door, guests can enjoy the beautiful swimming pool plunged into the green shared garden.

For check-ins after 9 pm, it is applied an additional fee of 20 euro, after 11 pm, 40 euro. This fee is to be paid cash at check in time.
From the 1st of January 2011, Rome City Council asks for a overnight accommodation tax on tourist service in the city.
This fee, 2 euros per night (10 nights maximum) per person (with the exception of children up to 10 years and Rome residents), is asked to anyone staying in any overnight accommodation inside Rome boundaries.
This fee, not included in the total rate, must be paid cash at check in time.

  • This is a really fabulous apartment. We didn't know Rome before this trip, but having now visited this beautiful city, if we had to put a pin in the map of exactly where we would want to stay it would be here. The apartment itself is great. Really clean and exactly as described with a comfortable bed and a lovely little terrace. Cristina has decorated it wonderfully. Very simple but very stylish. While she wasn't in Rome during our trip, she made sure that we were greeted warmly and settled in happily. I would not hesitate to recommend her apartment and can't wait to visit it and Rome again.

  • Very nice apartment in central Trastevere. We felt safe in the garden and apartment. The pool was very refreshing (it was february:)). The kitchen is small and the apartment is humid, but besides that it is very nice and romantic.

  • Christina was a very nice and helpful when Carolina arrived alone with lot of luggage. She was also quick to respond our messages.

The apartment is exactly as described. It is clean and it is situated in silent, secure and nice inner courtyard, but at the same time only 3 doors away from Trastevere's buzz. You have even a small private patio which must be absolutely great place in the summer to have a morning coffee or evening aperitif before heading out to streets of Rome.

As seen on the pictures the hand shower in a bathtub is not the most convenient arrangement also the kitchen is more for quick coffee than actually cooking anything.

  • This was our first experience with both Italy and Airbnb. Cristina was very responsive as we were booking and planning and Bianca was there waiting for us when we arrived from the airport. They both speak excellent English, too.

The unit is off a secure courtyard in a kind of Bohemian neighbourhood full of tiny narrow cobblestone streets and alleys. Even though there are bars and restaurants close by, I don't remember being bothered by outside noise even once. It's just across the river (lots of bridges, all with pedestrian sidewalks) from downtown Rome, about half an hour walk from the Vatican and from the Coliseum. We never took a bus or a cab the whole time we were there, because everything was easy to walk to. (Although ladies, wear flat and carry your heels: cobblestones are murder on shoes!)

The listing calls the unit a "loft" which I'm going to assume is an error in translation, because it is all one level and a few steps down from ground level. I imagine that in the hot Italian summer it is a pleasant oasis of cool, but in late October it felt dank and smelled a little mildewy. It was still perfectly clean and in good repair, with lots of room to hang our clothes.

The kitchen is, as every reviewer has said, amusingly tiny, but is perfectly adequate for breakfast and coffee and shouldn't be counted as a minus unless you're planning on cooking gourmet meals while on vacation.

Internet access is included with the apartment and was very useful for planning our excursions.

We were too busy sightseeing to use the pool, but it was just as pretty as the picture.

  • The apartment did well meet our expectations. It is small but tastefully and practically furniitured and the location is perfect in the middle of the lively Trastevere with lot of good restaurants at the doorstep The patio and the garden with the small and colourful pool add extra colour to the stay. The communictions with Cristina worked perfectly. We definitely reccommend this stay and will come back for our next visit to Rome.

Art Gallerist
My name is Cristina, I'm a middle aged woman born in Florence but lived most of my life in Rome. I'm an art historian and gallerist, I run an art gallery in the centre of Rome specialized in drawings, both old master and 19th century. Art is my passion, so for me living in Rome and around its artistic beauties it's something uncomparable to anything else. But my first satisfaction in life are my two sons, Matteo, 36, and Bianca, 23. The first is an artist, and the second one a university student, art history as well. I'm very proud of them, and I love spending time with my family. As for my hobbies, I love reading, travelling and cooking. According to my friends and family, I'm an excellent cook! I've travelled all around the world, as I'm a curious and active person, but I recently left my heart in Greece, Santorini to be precise, where i spend most of my holidays. I enjoy getting to know cultures and their languages: I speak fluently English, French and Greek! So, relating often with foreigners for my work, and being a traveller, I think that my experience as a host will be a satisfying experience for both me and the guests! I hope that you will choose, and then love my apartments as much as I do: ieach in their own way, are beautiful places, and most of all, really peculiar, they have a lot of charme and personality.
