Interaction with Guests
We interact with our guests as much as they want to interact with us. We generally stay out of the way but are more than happy to spend time with our guests in or out of the house.
The Faubourg Marigny is an authentic, historic neighborhood with great food, music, and beautiful architecture. It was New Orleans' second suburb, developed in 1806.
Immediately downriver (East) of the French Quarter, the Marigny was once the plantation of a Creole born vivant who made the dice game “craps” popular in America and who dazzled New Orleans by his flair and enormous inheritance. After subdividing the property in 1806, it developed gradually with a distinctly European flair and a cosmopolitan mix.
Today’s Marigny is still cosmopolitan, a singles friendly and artist-friendly neighborhood where people from all over the world have chosen to make their home. Beautiful Creole and Classic Revival cottages that stood abandoned after residents left for the suburbs in the 1950s have been restored and painted in rich golds, brick reds and moss greens.
Historic banks, corner stores and even bakeries have been refurbished as homes and guesthouses, while riverfront warehouses now accommodate artists' studios and performance spaces.
Weekends bring shoppers to independent galleries and rummage stores in lower Marigny while the restaurants and jazz clubs of the Marigny Triangle draw people from everywhere. Just across Esplanade Ave, near Frenchmen Street this musical enclave is an experience you will not find anywhere else in the city.
It is a $33 flat rate for a cab (up to 2 people) from the airport. There is free street parking in front of our house. Most places are walking distance but bikes are nice to have as well. There are many bike rental places nearby that we can direct you to.

We stayed in the Royal Suite for a couple of nights. The snail house is awesome!! Super close to Frenchman Street and there are some cool coffee shops in the neighborhood. Found street parking super easy. The room easily fits a couple and the bed is a king size, sheets and blankets were clean. A few towels for the shower that's in the room was also provided. Jen was super helpful when we arrived. You get your own key and can come and go as you need. Didn't see or hear anyone else while we stayed there, so it's super quiet didn't hear any street noise either. There's also a white noise machine in the room if you need it. The room itself is decorated really cool as well. No complaints about the stay! First time using air bnb. Would definitely stay here again. Price is pretty reasonable compared to any hotels in the area.
Our host Jen was great...felt very welcome and she was great about dealing with our late arrival (by train). The place was just as described, very nice, exactly what we wanted. Neighborhood was great, we love the Marigny. Close to a lot of great restaurants and music clubs.
I really enjoyed my stay at Jen's place in NOLA. The location is perfect! It is only a few blocks from the nightlife on Frenchman St. and about a mile from the French Quarter Market. The place was very clean and convenient.
I did not get a chance to meet Jen but she was very responsive. She had a lot of extras that were very nice and made you feel at home. She even leaves eggs in the refrigerator for all guest to eat!
I highly recommend staying here and will hopefully return soon! :)
Jen was a perfect host - she gave us a lay of the land when we arrived, and made sure we had everything we needed. The location of the space is perfect! We were able to walk to the French Quarter very easily, and we also enjoyed walking around in the Marigny neighborhood. The house is beautiful and well cared for, and the room was nice and quiet - perfect to come home to after a long day outside exploring.
We had a great time at Jen's! We stayed in the Royal Suite and it had everything we needed. The location is really convenient and neighbourbood is wonderful. Although we didn't get a chance to meet Jen, she coordinated everything with us flawlessly and was super accommodating when we inquired about adding a friend to our stay/room. Definitely recommend!
This was my first experience with air b n b and it was an extremely positive one. The house is clean and well stocked and a very comfortable place to stay. Jen was very accommodating as a host and helpful in giving us tips on things to do. The location is very close to the French quarter and easily walkable both during the day and the night. Overall I had a wonderful time in New Orleans and a large part of that is due to the snail house!

About the Host, Jen
I am not a native New Orleanian but feel as though I should have been. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, CA and went to school in Austin, TX, but as soon as came to New Orleans a few years back I wished I had discovered it sooner. The welcoming vibe of the amazing people that reside in this magical city has made it feel like home and I hope to share that with all guests of the Snail House.
The house has had many people come and go and I am so fortunate and grateful to have the opportunity to operate it at this point in time. Artists, writers, musicians, and all kinds of creative people have inhabited the Snail House at some point or another, and hopefully there will be many more in the days to come.
Staying at the Snail House is a one of a kind experience. The house chooses who it brings to the door.
