Interaction with Guests
We interact with our guests as much as they want to interact with us. We generally stay out of the way but are more than happy to spend time with our guests in or out of the house.
The Faubourg Marigny is an authentic, historic neighborhood with great food, music, and beautiful architecture. It was New Orleans' second suburb, developed in 1806.
Immediately downriver (East) of the French Quarter, the Marigny was once the plantation of a Creole born vivant who made the dice game “craps” popular in America and who dazzled New Orleans by his flair and enormous inheritance. After subdividing the property in 1806, it developed gradually with a distinctly European flair and a cosmopolitan mix.
Today’s Marigny is still cosmopolitan, a singles friendly and artist-friendly neighborhood where people from all over the world have chosen to make their home. Beautiful Creole and Classic Revival cottages that stood abandoned after residents left for the suburbs in the 1950s have been restored and painted in rich golds, brick reds and moss greens.
Historic banks, corner stores and even bakeries have been refurbished as homes and guesthouses, while riverfront warehouses now accommodate artists' studios and performance spaces.
Weekends bring shoppers to independent galleries and rummage stores in lower Marigny while the restaurants and jazz clubs of the Marigny Triangle draw people from everywhere. Just across Esplanade Ave, near Frenchmen Street this musical enclave is an experience you will not find anywhere else in the city.
It is a $33 flat rate for a cab (up to 2 people) from the airport. There is free street parking in front of our house. Most places are walking distance but bikes are nice to have as well. There are many bike rental places nearby that we can direct you to.

This was my first experience with air b n b and it was an extremely positive one. The house is clean and well stocked and a very comfortable place to stay. Jen was very accommodating as a host and helpful in giving us tips on things to do. The location is very close to the French quarter and easily walkable both during the day and the night. Overall I had a wonderful time in New Orleans and a large part of that is due to the snail house!
Great experience - perfect area and really efficient, accommodating host, lovely room. Recommended.
Really loved staying here! Great location and lovely vibe in the house. Didn't run into any of the folks staying in the place while I was there but did enjoy sharing a pot of coffee with Jen the two mornings I was there so felt very at home! The bed was really comfortable which is always a plus. Jen was totally understanding when I had to change the time we met when I checked in too so that made life easier.
Would totally recommend you stay here when visiting NOLA. Very close to great places to eat and the neighborhood cinema Indiewood so be sure to check it out while there too!
Both Jen and her place were awesome! I can't recommend them highly enough! We were only there for a few days over Mardi Gras but by the end of our stay we wished we had planned to stay much longer! Her place was very clean and very authentic feeling! It felt like a true New Orleans experience! It was perfectly situated just outside of all the craziness but all when we were ready, all we had to do was walk a couple blocks were immersed in the party (which was so much fun btw!) Jen was also very helpful and informative with respect to the area, restaurants, Mardi Gras parades, etc (she even provided beads and festive costume attire to get her houseguests started for Mardi Gras! Such a nice touch!). Thanks again, Jen! Can't wait to go back and stay for longer!
GREAT LOCATION! We had visited NOLA around festival season the prior year and we knew this was going to be a great spot. It's within walking distance to The French Quarter and Frenchman Street. There's a few good breakfast spots a block each way and a nice little coffee shop at the corner. The suite was clean, spacious, and a good place to decompress after the chaos that is New Orleans' Mardi Gras. Although we didn't get to hang with Jen, she was super responsive and we felt completely at home.
Beautiful home, comfy bed, wonderful location...! This was the perfect New Orleans home away from home. Hope I can come back and stay again soon!
Well located: three blocks from Frenchmen street and 5 minute walk to the french quarter. The house itself is beautiful and colorful, the room was large, spacious with a very comfortable king sized bed and high ceilings. There was an attached bathroom which was a big convenience. Our host Jen was very responsive during and before our stay and the key handoff was very smooth. I would definitely recommend this place for your stay in New Orleans.

I am not a native New Orleanian but feel as though I should have been. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, CA and went to school in Austin, TX, but as soon as came to New Orleans a few years back I wished I had discovered it sooner. The welcoming vibe of the amazing people that reside in this magical city has made it feel like home and I hope to share that with all guests of the Snail House.
The house has had many people come and go and I am so fortunate and grateful to have the opportunity to operate it at this point in time. Artists, writers, musicians, and all kinds of creative people have inhabited the Snail House at some point or another, and hopefully there will be many more in the days to come.
Staying at the Snail House is a one of a kind experience. The house chooses who it brings to the door.
