Stay in our enchanting Creole-inspired 6 bedroom home in the heart of the Faubourg Marigny. The house, referred to by locals as the Snailhouse, has tons of character and antique charm. 14 ft. ceilings and doorways, brazillian wood floors, and brick accents provide you with a unique ambience that beats with the energy of New Orleans.
Your room is the Royal Suite, a large room with a private bathroom and study. The room is furnished with a queen bed, bedside table, dresser and wardrobe. There are extra beds to accommodate additional guests. The study has a desk and can be converted to a second bedroom (a door separates the two but the bathroom is shared). We provide you with fresh linens and towels. You will share the common areas (kitchen, living, laundry, yard) with excellent roommates. The front section of the house is rented to guests such as yourself while the more permanent residents reside in the back.
The Marigny/Bywater area has an assortment of establishments that can suit the needs of travelers and locals alike.
Try the delicious Thai iced tea at the Orange Couch coffee shop next door. Take a short walk to Mardi Gras Zone or the New Orleans Food Co-op where you can stock up on fresh organic groceries. There are also dozens of bars and restaurants within very close proximity.
Check out the jazz hotspot Frenchmen Street to see live music on any night of the week at the venue of your choice (DBA, Spotted Cat, Cafe Negril, Blue Nile, The Maison).

The residents of the Snailhouse are an eclectic household of musicians, artists and entertainers in our 20's and 30's. We enjoy conversation on the front stoop, impromptu jam sessions and bottles of wine in the backyard. We can point you in the right direction to find the scene in New Orleans that best suits you.

We had a wonderful time at Jen and Ryan's. The room is gorgeous and the house is perfectly located: 5 min walk to Frenchman St, 10 min to the French Quarter etc. We absolutly loved the neighbourhood with a coffee shop next door, a gay bar around the corner and a mardi gras outlet/organic supermarket two blocks away. When in New Orleans we would definitely love to stay here again! Thanks.
Location was totally awesome and initially communication with Jen was good. Then it was all down hill. We never heard from Jen after a brief intro the first night and never did meet Ryan. Never felt "at home", felt like all the hosts were interested in was revenue. The room was not clean, bed sheets did not fit the small bed and the mattress was soft and sagged, it was murder on our backs despite asking Jen well in advance for a firm bed. Very noisy location made it difficult to sleep. Much more suited to the youth hostel class of guests than travelers with means.
We had a great time in NOLA, and part of the reason was our accommodations. Jen and Ryan weren't given much notice that we were arriving and they were still so accommodating. Their place is so cute and the neighborhood is very quiet. We felt really safe and enjoyed how close it was to Frenchman St. and the French Quarter. Jen and Ryan gave us great advice for brunches and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.
Jen and Ryan are lovely hosts. Super friendly and welcoming, but they also respect your privacy. The house is great. In a fantastic part of town close to the French quarter. We felt right at home. We will come back for sure!!
This was a perfect location, convenient and surrounded by great places to eat, hear music, people watch, and wander. It felt safe and very friendly. Jen and Ryan met us and got us all set up giving us good advice about places to go. (yeah Mimi's --go upstairs for the music and no smoking) The room was comfy and clean, and even though it faced the street it was quiet. Except for the fruit seller's chants on Monday morning- but it was fascinating to hear her patois. The Orange Couch was right next door for good coffee and lots of room to sit and chill over breakfast.
The other folks staying here were super friendly and we shared info about things to do and places to rent bikes, etc.We were definitely older than everyone else, but it didn't feel weird. Thanks for a great stay.
Our stay with Jen and Ryan at the snail house was WAY beyond my expectation. We stayed in "The Royal", located at the front of the house, with an en suite bathroom with standing shower, AND a cute little adjacent study. It was quiet and private, located within walking distance to the French Quarter, but far enough to get a feel of the locals. There are so many cute eclectic coffee shops and bars and restaurants just blocks away in every direction. There's ample parking on the street, too. I always felt safe; they keep the front door locked and even give you a key to your room, (not that I felt we needed it!). There were so many instruments available in the music room and a beautiful backyard that we never saw because we were out exploring. Jen was helpful and accommodating, even when we showed up 7 hours later than planned. I am sorry we didn't get hang out with our hosts or other guests, they seemed like great company. Next time we'll have to stay longer. Thanks Jen and Ryan! Hope to see you again :-)
Affordable and nicely located near Frenchman's Street. Jen was very accommodating to my late night arrival. The washer/dryer came in very handy as we were mid-way in a two week journey.
The host canceled my reservation 86 days before arrival.
La casa es tal como aparece en las fotos. Limpia y amueblada con muy buen gusto. Esta perfectamente ubicada, muy cerca del French Quarter, se puede ir andando a todas partes. Pero a la vez una zona tranquila para dormir y alojarse.
Volveremos a repetir.
We had amazing stay at Ryan& Jen. They were friendly and helpful. Our room was specious and pretty. We loved the high ceilings. The location could not be better- It's close to Frenchman street and hip local hang out. We highly recommend the snail house. We want to visit New Orleans and stay there again!!
