Interaction with Guests
We interact with our guests as much as they want to interact with us. We generally stay out of the way but are more than happy to spend time with our guests in or out of the house.
The Faubourg Marigny is an authentic, historic neighborhood with great food, music, and beautiful architecture. It was New Orleans' second suburb, developed in 1806.
Immediately East of the French Quarter, the Marigny was once the plantation of a Creole born vivant who made the dice game “craps” popular in America and who dazzled New Orleans by his flair and enormous inheritance. After subdividing the property in 1806, it developed gradually with a distinctly European flair and a cosmopolitan mix.
Today’s Marigny is still cosmopolitan, a singles friendly and artist-friendly neighborhood where people from all over the world have chosen to make their home. Beautiful Creole and Classic Revival cottages that stood abandoned after residents left for the suburbs in the 1950s have been restored and painted colorfully.
Historic banks, corner stores and even bakeries have been refurbished as homes and guesthouses, while riverfront warehouses now accommodate artists' studios and performance spaces.
It is a 20 minute drive and $33 flat rate (for up to 2 people) for a cab from the airport. There is free street parking in front of our house. Most places are walking distance but bikes are nice to have as well. There are many bike rental places nearby that we can direct you to.

... BE EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER!
We had an incredible time during our stay at Jen's place in Marigny! The location is absolutely ideal in the French Quarter, on a cute side street not too far from Frenchman Street. Jen's place is right around the corner from a great coffee shop and is literally walkable to everything you would want to see and do while in New Orleans. The room was great for our needs as we were mainly out and about in the city. Jen was really accommodating and created a comfortable atmosphere for us as guests. I would give this home my highest recommendation to anyone looking for a place to crash in a great neighborhood in New Orleans.
We had a great time while staying the Blue Room! We have only positive things to say. Jen made herself available to meet us to give us the key when our flight got in-- our flight was even a little late and she waited without complaining. She gave us a rundown of the neighborhood, things to do, places to eat, while looking at a map that was really helpful. Our room was a great size with a comfy bed and pretty roomy shower. There were other people staying there, but we never saw or heard them. We walked to and from the quarter from the house every day-- It was about a 10 minute walk. Everything was great! We would definitely stay there again. Thanks Jen!
The snail house was a great stay! It's super close to Frenchman Street and then a couple of blocks up from the Quarter. My friend and I walked home from the quarter multiple times and felt safe too.
Big room, comfy bed with lots of space. Room was a bit darker then what we were expecting, but that's the only negative that I have! The hot water can take some time to heat up, so don't jump the gun and settle for a luke warm shower - the wait is worth it!
To be honest, I couldn't have picked a better place to stay while I was in New Orleans. All the hotels in the area were out of my budget but then I found this place and Jen was the biggest help when it came to questions. She replied to me quickly and was very sweet. The actual atmosphere inside the house was awesome. The magic of the city was only a short stroll from the house which made taking in the city all the much easier. I would definitely stay here again in the future. Thanks Miss Jen !
This was by far the best airbnb experience I have had. Jen was very informative and accommodative. The snail house was clean, convenient and interesting. This operation is a well-oiled machine.
Jen was a great host! She was hospitable and responsive to all our questions. Everything was ready for us even though we arrived early before the normal check-in time. The location was amazing - great neighborhood, great food closeby, and within walking distance to Frenchmen St. and the French Quarter. We really loved our stay with Jen!
We had a great time at Jen's place. The house and the room are absolutely nice, you feel like at home! Plus, the location is great, you can literally walk to everywhere in the French quarter. Jen is a very welcoming person, it's a pity we saw her only at check in!

I am not a native New Orleanian but feel as though I should have been. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, CA and went to school in Austin, TX, but as soon as came to New Orleans a few years back I wished I had discovered it sooner. The welcoming vibe of the amazing people that reside in this magical city has made it feel like home and I hope to share that with all guests of the Snail House.
The house has had many people come and go and I am so fortunate and grateful to have the opportunity to operate it at this point in time. Artists, writers, musicians, and all kinds of creative people have inhabited the Snail House at some point or another, and hopefully there will be many more in the days to come.
Staying at the Snail House is a one of a kind experience. The house chooses who it brings to the door.
