Interaction with Guests
We interact with our guests as much as they want to interact with us. We generally stay out of the way but are more than happy to spend time with our guests in or out of the house.
The Faubourg Marigny is an authentic, historic neighborhood with great food, music, and beautiful architecture. It was New Orleans' second suburb, developed in 1806.
Immediately East of the French Quarter, the Marigny was once the plantation of a Creole born vivant who made the dice game “craps” popular in America and who dazzled New Orleans by his flair and enormous inheritance. After subdividing the property in 1806, it developed gradually with a distinctly European flair and a cosmopolitan mix.
Today’s Marigny is still cosmopolitan, a singles friendly and artist-friendly neighborhood where people from all over the world have chosen to make their home. Beautiful Creole and Classic Revival cottages that stood abandoned after residents left for the suburbs in the 1950s have been restored and painted colorfully.
Historic banks, corner stores and even bakeries have been refurbished as homes and guesthouses, while riverfront warehouses now accommodate artists' studios and performance spaces.
It is a 20 minute drive and costs around $35 for a cab from the airport. There is free street parking in front of our house. Most places are walking distance but bikes are nice to have as well. There are many bike rental places nearby that we can direct you to.
-No smoking inside

... BE EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER!
really great and attentive. stayed in touch leading up to check in...even texted to say room was available a couple of hours early...made sure we had all we needed, the disappeared and let us do our thing....very comfortable room....best afternoon nap we have ever had after some light day drinking! great location. highly recommended
The space was great - clean, hip, and fun.
The location was excellent - a short walk to the French Quarter, and an even shorter walk to Frenchmen Street. It was also nice that Frenchmen was on the way back from the French Quarter -- we hit up a jazz bar almost every night on our way back.
Jen wasnt there but Ryan was welcoming when we arrived. Didnt see anyone after that to advise of the issues which were;
The aircon is a central unit which was outside the room. Also while we were there a post it note was on it saying we couldnt bring the temperature below 75 which is rediculous given the high heat of New Orleans. Even then everytime we took it down to 75 it would go back up to 78-79 within an hour. Also even though you get to lock your door it doesnt actually lock, in fact the door even opened by itself while sleeping.
Great experience. The location of this airbnb is fantastic. It's a short walk to Frenchman and a couple blocks more to the Quarter. The house was everything we expected, the decor was great, the bed was so comfortable and the room was clean! We had a very pleasant experience. We'd definitely stay again! Thanks Jen!
My wife and I stayed in the blue room for a week. The room is in a Creole cottage, both charming and comfortable, very spacious with very high ceilings. The neighborhood is fantastic: within a few blocs of all the action on Frenchmen street but also close to the new restaurants and bars in the Marigny and Bywater areas.
Jen was a great host and has done much to make the place very welcoming with local newspapers, books, and board games available for those who don't want to spend all their time exploring the city. Although she rents three rooms in the building, we found it to be very quiet. Overall I would recommend this location wholeheartedly. Once you're there, you may not want to leave!
Our stay at Jen's place was great. Lovely house, great atmosphere and even better location. In walking distance to all the great food and music NOLA has to offer.
The room was good in size and the bed was very comfortable.
The kitchen was well equipped too.
We can definitly recommend this place.

About the Host, Jen
I am not a native New Orleanian but feel as though I should have been. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, CA and went to school in Austin, TX, but as soon as came to New Orleans a few years back I wished I had discovered it sooner. The welcoming vibe of the amazing people that reside in this magical city has made it feel like home and I hope to share that with all guests of the Snail House.
The house has had many people come and go and I am so fortunate and grateful to have the opportunity to operate it at this point in time. Artists, writers, musicians, and all kinds of creative people have inhabited the Snail House at some point or another, and hopefully there will be many more in the days to come.
Staying at the Snail House is a one of a kind experience. The house chooses who it brings to the door.
