Enter the 4' wide tiger oak, carved front door with an antique bit key & find yourself in the foyer which opens to the kitchen, and a large open living room. Three sets of sliding glass doors make up the back wall. Light and nature pour in! A mix of antique, modern & bespoke furniture rests on pine floors. Expect the cracks, creaks, & patina that age brings! There are interesting books, shells, crystals, rocks, sea glass and (not too) many curios from the owners travels. Make yourself at home!

The space
Located just off Hwy 48 (AL 117) in a neighborhood, this 103 year old, secluded, 5-bd house, high atop Lookout Mountain, is between Summerville, GA and Mentone, AL. The grounds have large trees, areas of lawn, areas of wild, flower beds, & an old chicken coop with a circular gravel drive. Our favorite room for cozy romance has a private bath w/ large shower, custom concrete tiles set with ferns & leaves from our yard. Enjoy your private balcony in a peaceful, natural setting. GREAT for birding! restaurants nearby and lots of natural beauty! There is one queen size bed, a desk and chair, & a bistro table with two chairs on the balcony. Most folks love the charming "library nook" built above the stairs!

Our neighborhood was originally known as the The Cloudland Park Club and was developed over a hundred years ago to offer respite from the brutal summers. Before air conditioning, folks from Florida, New Orleans, Montgomery would endeavor to spend as much time on Lookout Mountain as possible. It always cools off at night and is generally considerably cooler than anywhere South of us. We are comfortable year round with two HVAC systems. Blessed with elevation and latitude, the mountain offers extreme biodiversity. Endangered pitcher plants and other treasures can be find at nearby DeSoto State park. Walk to The Lookout restaurant or travel 10 minutes to the village of Mentone, Alabama for several great choices and shops or venture near the mouth of Cloudland Canyon for world class fare at the Canyon Grill. We are located in the "golden triangle" between Chattanooga, Atlanta and Birmingham. Nashville is three hours away, as is Montgomery. One hour puts you in Gadsden, Alabama or Chattanooga. An hour and a half to two put you in Atlanta or Birmingham. Cute shops and antique stores near by. The World's Largest Yard Sale passes right by us along the Scenic Highway. We are close to Howard finisher's folk art Paradise Garden in Summerville, GA. Ft. Payne, Alabama is nearby for restaurants shopping and the Alabama band fan headquarters.
