A small village in the Rainforest above Dominical. With less than 200 people in the village who all live quiet lives, this is a tranquil environment that is warming and gives a taste of the Pura Vida culture of Costa Rica.
The area is abundant with waterfalls, wildlife, and organic fruit.
The buses pick up & drop off on the main road right by the retreat center.
Flights in should come into San Jose, then a smaller plan can be taken into Quepos.
Once to Quepos, take a taxi to the retreat center.
A private taxi can be arranged with us if needed who can fit up to 12 at a time who knows the property well.
*Note* - the driveway is steep and is made of dirt and rubble, it is recommended that you have a 4x4 car to use the driveway.
It is still accessible with a small car or without one, although you will want to walk the short distance down the driveway to the center instead and park your car nearby in the neighborhood.
Other Things to Note
We also have a full production studio built into the retreat center. This includes film backdrops, lighting & audio equipment, and more. We have a full crew in the area if you desire to film or create audio while staying with us. Ask for details.
As a retreat center, this spot is best used for a professional setting. Be respectful & gentle to the equipment on site and enjoy the serenity it provides.
*Strict Policy* - No Alcohol, Smoking, Drugs of any type are permitted on the property.
Matt and Luba were very accomodating. It was a great experience to stay at the Airikai Sanctuary of Sacred Arts. For a truly remote location without the need to travel many hours by 4x4 check out this location. Great proximity to multiple waterfalls, beaches and jungle hiking. If you have a small to medium group that wants a natural setting and peaceful surroundings try Matt's place. Internet is direct connect to San Isidro de el General via fiber. Performance is unmatched in the region.
We rented the Rainforest Jungle Lodge. Our experience was disappointing and did not meet our expectations. Accommodations were not as described. Important items were either omitted or glossed over in booking conversations. Examples: the location was unmarked and difficult for members of our party to find. Host described the accommodations as "glamping" tents. This description was far fetched from the platforms covered with tarps we were offered. Bathroom was 5 minutes away from 2 of the camping sites (something which was omitted and should have been communicated). Waterfalls "on the property" were half an hour away and difficult to find. These are just some examples. We were going to stay 2 nights and ended up only staying 1. We requested a refund and Matt offered only minimal support. We ended up getting airbnb involved in the situation and receiving a partial refund from the host and airbnb. We don't believe that the host accurately represented the accomodations. Since our stay, Matt has modified the description of his accommodations on airbnb to more accurately represent them.
Overall, our situation was stressful and we felt that Matt was dismissive of our experience.
Matt was a wonderful host: he prepared a very complete booklet with information about the house and excursions in the area, addressed all our needs in a properly manner. He also took us to visit a wonderful waterfall in the area. He provided us with all the contacts we could need (maid, chef, fish delivery man, fruit deivery man...)
The property is completely nestled in the middle of the rainforest and it is perfect to be isolated yet very convenient to everything.
It feels like living in a tree-house and the outdoor bathroom is incredible.
