Other Things to Note
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is the apartment noisy?
The apartment is at the end of the main street, Cortland Avenue, and we are in the city. City life happens. The apartment has double glazed windows and insulated walls to cut down on noise, and it does help. Noise tolerance is very personal and highly subjective to the individual’s comfort zone. Most of our guests do not have a problem with street noise, even babies and toddlers have slept soundly throughout the night in our apartment! If you are a very light sleeper or highly sensitive to any noise, then this is not the right place for you.
2. Why do you charge an extra $80 cleaning fee?
The cleaning fee is a one-time charge to clean the apartment after you check out. It is a fair market rate by San Francisco standard. We take pride in delivering a clean, sanitized and comfortable apartment to every guest staying with us. We don’t scrimp on quality; you get what you pay for.
3. Why do I need to sign a rental agreement with you?
The rental agreement is a standard document that I require all my guests to acknowledge and sign, so that we have no cause for any misunderstanding. AirBnB only handles the fee transaction and is not responsible nor do they own my property. Different hosts have their own way of doing things to ensure a safe environment for themselves and their guests. I find it useful as a communication tool to make sure all is agreeable before the guests check in. This is also one way to gauge the sincerity of complete strangers coming into our home.
Please DO NOT BOOK the apartment until you have done the following:

We stayed one week in the appartment and it looks exactly as shown in the pictures if not better. It's very fresh, clean, modern and still cozy! The appartment has everything (nice bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bedroom and nice living room) to make you feel comfortable and Lisa had even prepared guides and maps for easy orientation in SF. She would even take her time and answer all our questions and give us tips which we very much appreciated. Lisa is very organized and keeps track of everything which gives one a good feeling!
Bernal Heights is a nice and safe neighbourhood with a couple of nice restaurants, eateries, coffee shops, an organic supermarket and artisenal shops just about 3 to 4 blocks away.
The appartment is situated on a very busy street but we kept the windows closed and so it didn't bother us at all.
Even though there are buses literally running outside the doorstep we found that it takes quite some time to get from the appartment to the more central parts of the city which was a little annoying after a couple of days if you quickly want to get from A to B and so we chose Uber instead of the pulic transport quite often. The house is situated on a very steep hill and the area itself is quite hilly hence I could imagine that it would not be the most convenient for people with small children/stroller or for people with disabilities when you're not having a car while staying there.
Once more it was an almost perfect AirBnB experience and we would definitely stay with Lisa again if we'd come back to the city!
We loved our stay at Lisa's apartment. It was perfect for me, my husband and teen daughter (on the pullout sofa.). Lisa was friendly and provided info about the great neighborhood. Bernal Heights is a hidden jewel--- lots of fun walks, a great view of the city and good places to eat. (For people with mobility issues, might be hard to get around this part of town Bc it is very hilly.) we hope to return some day!
Lisa is great, and so is the apartment. She was attentive and it was a pleasure to interact with her. The apartment fit my needs perfectly. Great location for where I needed to go, and it was fun to spend a few days as a city dweller again.
The apartment was great and exactly as described. Lisa was a kind and attentive host!
Lisa made us feel very welcomed.
She contacted us many times to make sure everything was good.
Bring earplugs if you are noise sensitive - this apartment is right on quite a busy road with buses and trafic passing by day and night. Bernal Heights is a very nice area, we loved sitting on the hill overlooking the city. The cleaning fee has to be paid on arrival - which is ok, but we found it rather high for such a small apartment.
I’m always happy to resolve any issue guests might have during their stay with us and I have reached out twice to this guest asking if everything’s OK. Didn’t get any response, so there was no opportunity for me to address any concern. With regards to street noise, we are on the main street and we are in the city, so yes, there is city life. There’s nothing much I can do about it except to make sure the windows are double-glazed and the walls are insulated in the apartment. As for the cleaning fee, it is a fair market rate by San Francisco standard. The fee amount is also clearly stated throughout my listing at least four times. If the guest has an issue with how much cleaning cost, why book my apartment and then complain about it later? We take pride in delivering a clean, sanitized and comfortable apartment to each guest staying with us. You get what you pay for.
