The Space

My home is a 1905 heritage house in the heart of James bay, in a quiet setting surrounded by Douglas Fir trees.

It is a five minute walk to the James Bay five corners where there is: 24 hour supermarket and deli, coffee shops, restaurants, pharmacy, liquor and wine stores, banks, thrift stores, hairdressers, dry cleaner, laundromat, beauty spa, yoga and martial arts studios, seniors center, and bus stops.

It is two blocks to the ocean and the beautiful Dallas Walkway along the sea shore. A fifteen minute walk will get you to Beacon Hill Park, Inner Harbour, Parliament Buildings, Royal BC Museum, the Robert Bateman Centre, the Empress Hotel, and downtown Victoria. To the Ogden Point cruise ship terminal, Heliport, Port Angeles ferry, and the Seattle Clipper it is about a ten minute walk.

The private room has electric baseboard heat with individual thermostat, double bed, dresser, mirror, clothes closet, an iron and ironing board, an opening window, and a private entrance off the front porch. The attached ensuite bathroom has a toilet, vanity and standup shower. A hair dryer, towels and essentials are provided. There is also a fridge in the entrance for exclusive guest use.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the kitchen with a convection stove, countertop convective toaster oven, blender, juicer, coffee grinder and dedicated areas in the fridge and cupboards for their food. They also have access to the living room with a library and music collection, the dining area with a Santevia water filter system, and the grounds with a propane BBQ.

Interaction with Guests

The setup allows guests as much privacy or interaction as they like- I'm very flexible and I've had great guests!

There is also a bar fridge, kettle, utensils and dishes in the guest area.

House Rules

-The new ensuite uses a macerating toilet: the drains from the shower,vanity and toilet are piped to the macerator where the wastes are macerated and pumped to the sewer. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO NOT PUT ANYTHING DOWN THE DRAINS OTHER THAN HUMAN WASTE, or the macerator will clog up. Please dispose of all non-human waste such as dental floss, sanitary napkins, cosmetic pads, textiles, plastic and metal, sand and stones in the wastebasket provided.

I'm vegetarian and ask that meat be cooked outside on the propane BBQ.

-Non smoking in the house and yard
- Please use the bathroom exhaust fan while showering and wipe away any standing water once you're finished (it's an old house!)
- There is a compost pail for organic waste and a recycling bin in the kitchen (all paper, glass, metal, and most plastics can be recycled after rinsing).
