My home is a 1905 heritage house in the heart of James bay, in a quiet setting surrounded by Douglas Fir trees.
It is a five minute walk to the James Bay five corners where there is: 24 hour supermarket and deli, coffee shops, restaurants, pharmacy, liquor and wine stores, banks, thrift stores, hairdressers, dry cleaner, laundromat, beauty spa, yoga and martial arts studios, seniors center, and bus stops.
It is two blocks to the ocean and the beautiful Dallas Walkway along the sea shore. A fifteen minute walk will get you to Beacon Hill Park, Inner Harbour, Parliament Buildings, Royal BC Museum, the Robert Bateman Centre, the Empress Hotel, and downtown Victoria. To the Ogden Point cruise ship terminal, Heliport, Port Angeles ferry, and the Seattle Clipper it is about a ten minute walk.
The private room has electric baseboard heat with individual thermostat, queen bed, dresser, mirror, clothes closet, an iron and ironing board, an opening window, and a private entrance off the front porch. The attached ensuite bathroom has a toilet, vanity and standup shower. A hair dryer, towels and essentials are provided.
- Wireless internet
- Street and on-site parking (but if you haven’t already guessed, the area is very walkable and you don’t need a car!)
Guests have access to the kitchen with a convection stove, countertop convective toaster oven, blender, juicer, coffee grinder and dedicated areas in the fridge and cupboards for their food. They also have access to the living room with a library and music collection, the dining area with a Santevia water filter system, and the grounds with a propane BBQ.
Interaction with Guests
The setup allows guests as much privacy or interaction as they like- I'm very flexible and I've had great guests!
-The new ensuite uses a macerating toilet: the drains from the shower, vanity and toilet are piped to the macerator where the wastes are macerated and pumped to the sewer. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO NOT PUT ANYTHING DOWN THE DRAINS OTHER THAN HUMAN WASTE, or the macerator will clog up. Please dispose of all non-human waste such as dental floss, sanitary napkins, cosmetic pads, textiles, plastic and metal, sand and stones in the wastebasket provided.
I'm vegetarian and ask that meat be cooked outside on the propane BBQ.
-Non smoking in the house and yard
- Please use the bathroom exhaust fan while showering and wipe away any standing water once you’re finished (it’s an old house!)
- There is a compost pail for organic waste and a recycling bin in the kitchen (all paper, glass, metal, and most plastics can be recycled after rinsing).
Thank you for your consideration and enjoy your stay!
This was the best place I could have stayed. Bill and his wife were the absolute best, as they made me feel very comfortable to come and go whenever I please. Before reaching Victoria, Bill was very helpful with directions and suggestions for the shuttles to and from the airport.
The room and personal bathroom was immaculate, with its own heating system, which was a plus for me. The location was great too, one block away from a 24 hr supermarket and StarBucks, 20 mins walk to downtown and 10 mins to the ocean.
I will definitely stay there again on my next visit to Victoria and recommend it to anyone.
Great place to stay, very nearby to everything and Bill is a fantastic host. Very easy to make oneself at home with all the of the amenities and fantastic kitchen. Bill is extremely helpful in pointing you towards fun activities nearby based on your interests.
This was the perfect place to stay in Victoria. It is in a great neighbourhood with community feel and some nice places to stop for coffee, couple of minutes walk to the sea and nice 15 mins walk to downtown.
Only spoke to Bill a couple of times but was made to feel very welcome in the house. The room was as expected, good clean double room, with a ensuite bathroom and some nice touches with kettle and tea/coffee in the room for you, plenty of helpful leaflets/maps to help you explore Victoria and bikes to use if you wanted to.
A great stay, thanks Bill!
Nice place in the heart of a cool, funky neighborhood. Bill's place is a work in progress, but clean and comfortable. Easy access to the house and the room, and a very easy going host.
We had a good time at Bill's place. He and Carolyn were very friendly and gave us good advices what to do in the area. The room with a private bathroom they provided for us was basic but clean. It's a fair bargain.
Bill's place is within walking distance of the ferries & Victoria's attractions. You may also easily take a bus downtown if you prefer. Nearby: a drugstore with a post office within (could buy stamps on Sunday!), bank with ATM & 24 hour grocery store. The suite felt private because Bill used the entrance at the other end of the house & didn’t use the adjoining bedroom or living room during our stay. We easily came & went as we pleased. It was quiet at night for easy sleep. Hot water was readily available for the shower. There were individual heat controls in both the bedroom & the bathroom – handy because the bathroom got chilly at night/early morning. We were offered delicious plums to enjoy on departure day. You won’t go wrong by selecting Bill’s place for your Victoria holiday.
Bill's place is great! It's in the lovely James Bay area and with the bike's from Bill it's very easy to go and explore downtown.
I've just returned from 5 months abroad using Airbnb extensively as a guest- it's a great system except for the noncompatibility of the app with Blackberry.
