James Bay, Downtown Area, Victoria

House - Private room · St James St, Victoria, BC V8V 4S8, Canada

The Space

My home is a 1905 heritage house in the heart of James bay, in a quite setting surrounded by Douglas Fir trees.

It is a five minute walk to James Bay village where there is: 24 hour supermarket, coffee shops, restaurants, pharmacy, liquor stores, and bus stops.

It is also two blocks to the ocean and the beautiful Dallas Walkway along the sea shore. A fifteen minute walk will get you to Beacon Hill Park, Inner Harbour, Parliament Buildings, Royal BC Museum, the Robert Bateman Centre, the Empress Hotel, and downtown Victoria. From the Ogden Point cruise ship terminal, Heliport, Port Angeles ferry, and the Seattle Clipper it is about a ten minute walk.

The private room has an electric baseboard heat, queen bed, dresser, an opening window, and a private entrance. The brand new attached ensuite bathroom has a standup shower.

Also available:

- Wireless internet
- Bicycles
- Free street parking (but if you haven’t already guessed, the area is very walkable and you don’t need a car!)

Guests have access to the kitchen with a convection stove, toaster oven, and dedicated areas in the fridge and cupboards for their food. They also have access to the living room, dining room, the grounds with a BBQ.

  • I'll join the chorus of praise for this place. Great location, pleasant room with a private bathroom.

  • Pleasant room in a very pleasant house in an interesting and accessible community. My stay was especially useful to me in that my host was involved in community organization and that was what I had come to his area to investigate. I made some wonderful new contacts with Bill's help.

  • We had a great experience at Bill's place. He has a great home, both clean and quiet, and within walking distance to the waterfront and downtown Victoria. Bill is very friendly, and gave good local recommendations.

    December 2013
  • Great location for scouting around downtown Victoria, Ogden Point, Beacon Hill, Cook St. etc. Really quiet neighborhood and quiet b&b!

  • Bill is so generous and welcoming! His home is very cozy and convenient. I highly recommend staying here.

    November 2013
  • We really enjoyed our stay with Bill, in his peaceful house in a great location in Victoria, just a short walk from downtown. The room was lovely and the bathroom has a great shower! Bill was a wonderful host, and even lent us bikes to explore with. We would really recommend staying here.

  • I really loved Bill's quiet, comfortable and peaceful abode. It was a very beautiful house, my girlfriend and I loved it.

    October 2013
  • Bill was a great host and has a very lovely home. The location was convenient and everything was comfortable. It was great chatting with him, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

    October 2013
  • Bill's place was super well-located to see all of downtown Victoria and James Bay. Although it's just a room, he's very good about allocating space in the rest of the house for you. Because it is just a room in his house, though, it's probably best for people who don't intend to spend much time there. Overall, for the price, it's very reasonable.

    October 2013
  • Bill was a very friendly, helpful man, living in a calming environment. His location was very convenient for walking to local area sites and attractions. The bed and bedroom were very comfortable and the open living space was made available to us. A bathroom had to be shared, but this was listed upfront, and it didn't prove to be a problem. What a great deal for the price.
