The Space

PLEASE DONT book without speaking to me first! Thank you!
I am not taking any bookings more than 6 weeks ahead at the moment. Please DO NOT request anything after the dates listed until I update this status.
Room availability: Midweek 2 nights maximum for 1 or 2 guests, Friday/Weekend - up to 3 guests. Check-in after 14:30 (baggage can be dropped off earlier at a mutually agreed time) AVAILABILITY APRIL 13th-14th-15th-16th-17th-21st-22nd-23rd-24th-28th MAY 2nd-3rd-4th-5th-6th-7th-11th-12th-13th-14th-16th-17th-18th-19th-20th-21st-22nd-23rd-24th-25th-26th-27th-28th-29th-30th ALSO - late arrival only - 15th-31st MAY JUNE 1st-2nd-3rd-4th (Subject to No Cancellations. Check my alternative listing "WESTMINSTER EN-SUITE")
This London Themed room with your own personal bathroom is priced very reasonably & accordingly for those seeking cheap last minute accommodation in a very central location. The good points are - a Westminster location close to transport facilities. Breakfast is inclusive at a time convenient to you (before 1pm). No curfew is imposed; come and go as you please. Complementary cold soft drinks and hot beverages are provided and your room has its own mini-fridge. The room is priced from US $72 and comes with a real double bed and fresh bed linen. Towels and toiletries are provided. A hairdryer & straightener is provided for your own personal use. There is a TV/DVD/stereo in the room for you to use. You can also have unlimited access to the kitchen and living room as well as WIFI use at any time.
The flip side - this room is in need of refurbishment so cosmetically a little shabby - with old carpet.& curtains & the walls need a fresh coat of paint. There is a rail to hang your clothes on and a modesty screen. *NOTE I cater for a budget traveller. It is clean and basic, but it will not be 5* Hotel sparkling as this is a real home! Hence the price - but I like to be honest and if you just need a room to crash at a cheap price and not expecting 5* standards you will be ok. (The young and open minded person/traveller who just needs a place to crash will be fine with this - US Citizens, Business people, Cat haters/people with cat allergies, Families with young children, Clean-freaks and Non-Smokers wont be - and for some reason Italian citizens who really seem to hate it here!) There is no Air Conditioning (which is common in the UK). This is a pro-smoking apartment (although I am a non-smoker myself) so if you are fussy about smoking, please dont book - my friends stay over in this room when here and an ashtray is provided in it.
*In conclusion, you get what you pay for, no frills but! A very warm welcome (and a big thank you as all monies earned are being re-invested in refurbishment of the apartment!).
Should you wish more information about the location and its surroundings and the local amenities and attractions, please see my alternative listing, the Westminster en-suite (which is available sporadically).
Any questions please do not hesitate to contact me - I look forward to hearing from you.

Guest Access

Living Room, Kitchen, own Bedroom & own Bathroom.

Interaction with Guests

Usually just at breakfast time but I am always available if they need to ask any questions or have any problems. I prefer guests who are doing their own thing; I am not a 'hands on/lets be best friends' kind of Host. I am always available for advice on the attractions of London.

The Neighborhood

Brilliant central & safe location close to and within walking distance of Buckingham Palace, Royal Mews, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey & the London Eye.

Getting around

A great underground system only 4 minutes away, with local Train station & a Bus terminus next to it & National Coach Station nearby.

Other Things to Note

If you are a clean freak and wish a more thorough clean we can add a supplement of £25 and I will hire a professional cleaner to come in half way through your stay. More details on request.

  • We had an amazing stay in Lindsey's apartment! The bedroom was well furnished in traditional British styled decoration, and Lindsey took great effort to ensure our comfort in every way possible!

She is also the proud owner of many beautiful cats, each unique in their own way. The cats are glad to be left alone, but are also keen to play should you decide to stop and pay them some attention. It is a dream vacation home for all you cat lovers out there :)

In short, it was a wonderful night spent in Lindsey's place, finding out more about the uk culture, and of course, enjoying time with the cats!

  • We had a great time at Lyndsey's, warm welcome and plenty of tips for our visit through London. The cat's are lovely and they didn't enter the room at all, they just came when we were on the living room to ask for some cuddles ;) .
The flat is perfectly situated to visit the city, at only a few minutes walk from Victoria Station.
I feel like I had much more that what I paid for, kindness and hospitality as a major value!!
Thank you for this lovely WE, we will definetly come by again when back to London!! Hope I won't wait too long to come back again ;)

  • This apartment is really great location, and easy to go everywhere. Lindsey is very nice and thoughtful,I was very comfortable to live there. These cats are very cute and nice.
Thank u for the delicious breakfast and the intimate present.
If you want to have a nice and not expensive travel in London, u must choose this apartment.

Thank you for your kind words, Qian. You are a genuinely lovely person and it was wonderful to meet you.

  • Lindsey is nice and really willing to help. The flat is 10min walk from Victoria station (lots of buses and coaches to go everywhere).
If you're looking for something like a really nice and sparkling hotel room, you'll be disappointed, but if you just want a modest central place for a few days it's alright. Be sure to read everything Lindsey wrote in the room description and in her profile, you'll know what you'll get. You get what you pay for ^^.
She has really cute and nice cats who didn't bother us at all. They're not allowed in the bedrooms.
Don't forget to tell Lindsey your shower time if you want hot water.

  • Lindsey is a fantastic host! She provides everything that a traveler needs and even more! She is very welcoming and lovely. Her apartment is very central located, well equipped and very nice decorated. I stayed there only for one night but when I'm next time in London I would definitely like to stay in her place.

  • The location is great, a few mins from Victoria station, 10mins from Buckingham palace. The apartment is nice, but the host - Lindsey is great! She is really helpfull and has great advice. She also has everything you might need there - umbrella, tootbrush, anything for showering/washing, maps of London,... We were pleasantly surprised when we saw everything =) She gave us great advices on what to see and how to see it for the cheapest. We'd really recommend!

  • Great weekend in London!
Just some tips that someone may find useful.
The house is very well located, less than 5 minutes on foot from Victoria station. We could come and go as we pleased and the place was very quiet.
It's true that you have to like cats, they will be watching your steps when you go to the bathroom ;) , but they never go into the room (unless you allow them...). They are very quiet and nice, this wasn't a problem.
The bed is big but the mattress is quite old, if you have back pain (as I have) you should have this in mind.
We didn't take breakfast, but Lindsey asked every day if we wanted, what is very kind.
Finally, you have to advise Lindsey about when you want to use the shower, in order to her to set the hot water, if you are going to use the bathroom when she isn't at home or if she is sleeping.
In summary, the room seems old but it's confortable, the house is very well located, Lindsey will help you with any info about the city or the transport (we really appreciate all the messages she sent us before arriving :)), and the price is affordable, so FAIR ENOUGH!!
I would stay again for sure!

    Response from Kitty:

Thank you Fernando for the comprehensive review. Just as an aside; the mattress is only 18 months old! Once again, I must point out I cater for super-budget travellers and had I known about your back I would have encouraged you to book somewhere else rather than comment negatively in a review about such a specialized condition. I am NOT a high maintenance Hotel - I am a private home and I do send several mails before you arrive so this could have been discussed beforehand and it is a little unfair to expect me to be able to deal with a problem that I am not responsible for.

  • We stayed at Lindseys place for two nights during our short trip to London. Her place is really close to Victoria station, so it is easy to get to. Her place was exactly as she described it, so if you dont like cats you definetly should chose somewhere else to stay :) Lindsey was very kind and welcoming and gave us a key in order to come and go as we liked. She also gave us good tips about getting around, which ticket to get, what to visit etc. and also keeps everything you might need at her place such as spare toothbrushes, shampoo or an umbrella.
All in all it was a nice stay at Lindseys, but we are easy going people and do not have problems with cats. If you are high maintenance, you should chose another place, but if you are easy going people I can recommend her house as she is a warm and helpful person who lives very central in London.
Thanks again Lindsey! Jule & Nils

About
IMPORTANT - *** I do not check my listing every day, usually every 2-3 days. I ALWAYS converse with a guest first; I consider it both polite & important to know who I will be living with (especially if you have no profile at all!). If you attempt to book without contacting me first, I personally find this a little pushy and you are probably not the type of person who I would get on with. In this instance, I will cancel the pending booking and not reconsider it under any circumstance. *** I prefer short term notice/very last minute bookings. I tend to only book my calendar approximately 6 weeks maximum in advance due to my work rotas, so whilst I can appreciate you may wish to lock into accommodation early on, I cannot consider these requests as I have no clue what my routine will be then & if I can honour a booking so far ahead. My favourite places in the World, in no particular order, are Berlin, Budapest, Vienna & Edinburgh. When it comes to England, nowhere beats the Isle of Wight. I think I would like Istanbul from what Ive heard and read but havent been lucky enough to visit there yet! My most favourite country that I have visited so far is Germany as I find it truly beautiful; both people and countryside. I am also very interested to learn more about the Orient ; China & Korea particularly and am always thrilled to have guests from this Continent! Russia is another country that interests me greatly. Things that interest me - Complementary Therapies, Culture, Theatre, Action & SciFi Films, Meeting new people and my Cats - who are the true bosses of the house! I am happy to give advice and information regarding the tourist attractions of London. I would hope that I offer a place where anyone with an open mind is welcome. I am currently booking only shorter stays based around long weekends and Bank Holiday periods in the Westminster En-suite. However, I will sometimes accept a midweek overnight stay if the guest/s have a late arrival. If this listing is full, please see my alternative one based at the same location, The London Room, as I tend to book this pretty much on a constant basis. I am not keen on long stays - 3 days maximum is my preference. The type of guest who would suit the apartment varies - I like the vibe of the night-bird but love the energy of morning people! However, I tend to do my own thing so would probably only see you in the morning at breakfast and in the evening when you return. My home suits those who are backpackers or super-budget travellers whose main aim is to be to be central for a cheap price. I do not cater for the upmarket trade so if you are looking for a Hotel experience, this isnt the place for you. It is cheap for a reason! If you have any queries or worries not shown in my profile or answered in my 2 listings please message me and I can clarify them for you. NOTE I am disappointed to even have to write the following points, but I really have to emphasise these, as it is becoming alarming the amount who do not read my profile fully or choose to ignore pertinent facts. ATTITUDE As long as people realise it is a private home and not a B&B and they wish to be treated as friends I feel we would suit. I am rather naive in this situation as I perhaps feel the way I would treat others properties would be reciprocated, and if I feel people are being discourteous or rude I will politely say so. I prefer guests with a laissez-faire attitude but who are considerate of others, as I sometimes host other guests simultaneously and I do not feel it is alot to ask for people to be both friendly and respectful. SMOKING This is a pro-smoking house. People have and will continue to smoke in the bedrooms and I fully allow this. Smokers are very welcome (although I do not smoke myself but all my friends do, without exception; so if you are bothered by cigarette smoke, this place is NOT for you.). In fact, non-smokers annoy me much more than smokers as they moan about smoking in reviews when I have been nothing but truthful to you in this listing. CATS (all the following scenarios have actually occurred/happened with guests!) I have Cats. Hopefully the Cat profile picture is a hint of this. So.... No, I will not move them out when you stay here; this is their home. Screaming because you are frightened is only going to stress the Cats & annoy me as to why you booked here in the first place. If you are allergic or dont like them, please dont book here. It wont be okay. To clarify; if you or anyone in your party is allergic to, hates, or is frightened of Cats - this is NOT the apartment for you. It is upsetting when you come through my door as Frosties cat instantly rushes to greet you for a pat on the head (she loves people) and you shove her away and say you hate cats. Its not a good start (Hello would have been far nicer!) * Important: Note: As well as my own, I regularly take in Foster Cats so can have more here than are pictured. Im not talking some crazy amount but a couple of kittens tumbling about as well is not uncommon. Of course, they are NOT allowed in your room and only Frosties will chance her arm at that, looking up at you appealingly as you go to the door for the hall... but its a NO, everytime, thank you, as she is spoilt enough & I like the cats to have boundaries & routines (as you will see if you come and visit!) So please... I would rather have no guests on your chosen weekend than anti-smokers or cat haters. Just because my listing is more central or $5USD cheaper than your next choice ...please reconsider and choose elsewhere. The above points are not meant to offend, rather not waste anyones time. The beauty of Airbnb is there really is something for everyone so I am sure you will find the perfect place for you!
