Check my alternative listing "WESTMINSTER EN-SUITE")
This London Themed room with shared bathroom (with me, the Host) is priced very reasonably & accordingly for those seeking cheap last minute accommodation in a very central location. The good points are - a Westminster location close to transport facilities. Breakfast is inclusive at a time convenient to you. No curfew is imposed; come and go as you please. Complementary cold soft drinks and hot beverages are provided and your room has its own mini-fridge. The room is priced from US $70 and comes with a real double bed and fresh bed linen. Towels and toiletries are provided. A hairdryer & straightener is provided for your own personal use. There is a TV/DVD/stereo in the room for you to use. You can also have unlimited access to the kitchen and living room as well as WIFI use at any time.
The flip side - this room is in need of refurbishment so cosmetically a little shabby - with old carpet.& curtains & the walls need a fresh coat of paint. There is a rail to hang your clothes on and a modesty screen. *NOTE I cater for a budget traveller. It is clean and basic, but it will not be 5* Hotel sparkling as this is a real home! Hence the price - but I like to be honest and if you just need a room to crash at a cheap price and not expecting 5* standards you will be ok. (The young and open minded person/traveller who just needs a place to crash will be fine with this - US Citizens, Business people, Cat haters/people with cat allergies, Families with young children, Clean-freaks, Non-Smokers wont be - and for some reason Italian citizens really hate it). There is no Air Conditioning (which is common in the UK). This is a pro-smoking apartment (although I am a non-smoker myself) so if you are fussy about smoking, please dont book - my friends stay over in this room and an ashtray is provided.
*In conclusion, you get what you pay for, no frills but! A very warm welcome (and a big thank you as all monies earned are being re-invested in refurbishment of the apartment!).
Should you wish more information about the location and its surroundings and the local amenities and attractions, please see my main listing regarding the en-suite which is available all year round (to the right of this and underneath my profile).
Any questions please do not hesitate to contact me - I look forward to hearing from you.
Living Room, Kitchen, own Bedroom & shared Bathroom with me (The Host).
Usually just at breakfast time but I am always available if they need to ask any questions or have any problems. I prefer guests who are doing their own thing; I am not a 'hands on/lets be best friends' kind of Host. I am always available for advice on the attractions of London.
Brilliant central & safe location close to and within walking distance of Buckingham Palace, Royal Mews, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey & the London Eye.
A great underground system only 4 minutes away, with local Train station & a Bus terminus next to it & National Coach Station nearby.
If you are a clean freak and wish a more thorough clean we can add a supplement of £25 and I will hire a professional cleaner to come in half way through your stay. More details on request.
Lindsey is a fantastic host! She provides everything that a traveler needs and even more! She is very welcoming and lovely. Her apartment is very central located, well equipped and very nice decorated. I stayed there only for one night but when I'm next time in London I would definitely like to stay in her place.
The location is great, a few mins from Victoria station, 10mins from Buckingham palace. The apartment is nice, but the host - Lindsey is great! She is really helpfull and has great advice. She also has everything you might need there - umbrella, tootbrush, anything for showering/washing, maps of London,... We were pleasantly surprised when we saw everything =) She gave us great advices on what to see and how to see it for the cheapest. We'd really recommend!
Great weekend in London!
Just some tips that someone may find useful.
The house is very well located, less than 5 minutes on foot from Victoria station. We could come and go as we pleased and the place was very quiet.
It's true that you have to like cats, they will be watching your steps when you go to the bathroom ;) , but they never go into the room (unless you allow them...). They are very quiet and nice, this wasn't a problem.
The bed is big but the mattress is quite old, if you have back pain (as I have) you should have this in mind.
We didn't take breakfast, but Lindsey asked every day if we wanted, what is very kind.
Finally, you have to advise Lindsey about when you want to use the shower, in order to her to set the hot water, if you are going to use the bathroom when she isn't at home or if she is sleeping.
In summary, the room seems old but it's confortable, the house is very well located, Lindsey will help you with any info about the city or the transport (we really appreciate all the messages she sent us before arriving :)), and the price is affordable, so FAIR ENOUGH!!
I would stay again for sure!
Thank you Fernando for the comprehensive review. Just as an aside; the mattress is only 18 months old! Once again, I must point out I cater for super-budget travellers and had I known about your back I would have encouraged you to book somewhere else rather than comment negatively in a review about such a specialized condition. I am NOT a high maintenance Hotel - I am a private home and I do send several mails before you arrive so this could have been discussed beforehand and it is a little unfair to expect me to be able to deal with a problem that I am not responsible for.
We stayed at Lindseys place for two nights during our short trip to London. Her place is really close to Victoria station, so it is easy to get to. Her place was exactly as she described it, so if you dont like cats you definetly should chose somewhere else to stay :) Lindsey was very kind and welcoming and gave us a key in order to come and go as we liked. She also gave us good tips about getting around, which ticket to get, what to visit etc. and also keeps everything you might need at her place such as spare toothbrushes, shampoo or an umbrella.
All in all it was a nice stay at Lindseys, but we are easy going people and do not have problems with cats. If you are high maintenance, you should chose another place, but if you are easy going people I can recommend her house as she is a warm and helpful person who lives very central in London.
Thanks again Lindsey! Jule & Nils
Thanks for exhausting, but great vacation. The position of flat is brilliant. 2 mins from sainsbury´s, 5 mins from Victoria station.
Thanks for Your hospitality and good advices to our trip across London. The kittens are cute :)
May be, see You later again one day.
Great and comfortable small room in the basement of a residential 5-minute walk from Victoria Station.
The hostess is very hospitable, she has a lot of gentle and friendly cats.
Very convenient location, the price for London - just better than ever.
Bath and toilet combined, but very warm, comfortable and full of all sorts of useful things.
Thank you very much for your hospitality Lindsey!
Problems again with people who do not read my listing properly and who do not speak English! It was a stay full of lies the whole time. Firstly Mira - you knew this was a pro-smoking house - or you would have if you had spoken English and understood where you were staying. You also chose to stay in my budget room and you were warned of this in the listing and the mails I sent you. You chose a budget option but expected 5 star and then complain - shame on you and your appalling manners. You acted like spoiled princesses refusing to use the bathroom allocated to you so of course I was annoyed that you all kept sneaking into the en-suite where someone else was staying and paying for sole use - which was disrespectful at best, and immensely rude towards the other guests. So yes, I did ban you all from their bathroom (something I should not have had to do with 'adults') and stood by the bathroom door until you all vacated it. There were lots more cats than usual as I had a foster family of a mother and 4 kittens which I told you about. My cats do not jump onto the table ever - but the fosters were small - 5 weeks old - and did not know any better and you know I took the offending kitten down as soon as he climbed on the table. As for hospitality! None of you said hello, goodbye, thank you or please about anything, at any time; simple manners most people undertake naturally - so its hard to be pleasant to such rude self-centred people - but I tried! A nightmare visit I would not like to repeat.
Problems again with people who do not read my listing properly and who do not speak English! Daniela, you left without advising me and actually left my property unlocked and therefore unsafe, which I found rude. Your partner smokes alot which is no bother to me as I have a pro-smoking house but the constant coming & going at all hours to smoke as he refused to smoke in the bedroom or living room and let the cold air in constantly so it definately wasnt the TV keeping you awake all night! I fell asleep for an hour on the sofa when you were here, approx 6:30am as I was making breakfasts at 7.45am and as I usually work nights it didnt make sense to go to bed for an hour, but you probably didnt understand that as one of you spoke no English so everything had to be translated. I would like to think that also was the reason you didnt explain to me any alterations or problems you may have had.
Had a lovely one night stay at Lindsey's place. She was really helpful with the directions, the location was excellent! Just minutes walk away from the Victoria underground and Victoria coach station. The room was clean and tidy. Towels and toiletries were provided in the washroom. Lindsey was an excellent host, she even took the effort to prepare breakfast for us when we left the next day at 4am! Would recommend this place if you're looking for a place to stay near the Victoria coach/underground area. Thanks once again Lindsey:)
Great location and room! I truly recommend! Thank You,Lindsey for your hospitality!
