Interaction with Guests
I enjoy meeting new people but totally respect their privacy. Happy to go with the flow
Summerhill is an attractive city neighbourhood, great pub, Henchys just up the road and many restaurants/cafes/pubs just down the road in McCurtain Street and beyond! Urban chic mixed with a leafy old world ambience!!
one can walk to anywhere in Cork from here and walk home late at night no bother.... and the bus stop is just outside the door, theres a short cut to train station down some steps so its 5 mins and Bus Station at the end of the hill... max 10 mins walk...!
Other Things to Note
The king size bed is nice and comfy, tea and coffee making facility in room. Can sometimes pick up from airport or drop you off for a tenner! Message me to see if i'm available!
Can also accommodate pets.... love animals.
I expect guests to be:-
(a) well behaved
(b) happy !
Pauline was not home when we arrived, but her teenage son did his best to make us feel welcome. The pictures of the room and bathroom were accurate, a lovely big room with a balcony. The traffic noise was pretty constant till quite late at night, but the neighbourhood felt safe, and was only 10 minutes walk into town.
Excellent accommodation, pictures do not do it justice. Pauline is a superb host, she couldn't be more welcoming .... Steven and G
The house is really easy to find, a 10min walk from the city centre. A beautiful spacious bedroom with a really comfy bed, open fire and balcony and a lovely bathroom. The house is big and rambling and quirky with a view out over the city. Pauline was very open and welcoming. We were busy with family so didn't get the chance to have breakfast at the house. We really loved our time in Cork.
Pauline was a wonderful, warm, and welcoming host. She allowed us to feel at home and was a joy to chat with. The room in Pauline's home is actually larger than the pictures make it out to be and the bathroom even more so! It is a short walk to make your way into the center of the "hubbub" and it was actually very nice to walk back out of it and spend the evenings in a little bit quieter area.
Had a really nice stay with Pauline. The room is large and great bed, and the bathroom is huge with lovely bath and shower. Proper Irish pub and nice wine bar just a short walk up the hill. A few minutes to train station and bus station and city centre is only 5 minutes walk. Took the bus to Kinsale with was fantastic and worth the trip. Pauline and her son are really friendly and welcoming hosts, with lots of tips about where to go and eat etc. would stay again if in Cork, good value for a great location.
Pauline is great - very friendly and helpful! We loved our stay here! The location was quite convenient, just a few minutes walk from downtown. The room is perfect and included everything we needed. The bed is big and clean and very comfortable (great duvet!), and the fireplace was very lovely - romantic and cozy. It was great to also have our own (huge!) separate bathroom. We enjoyed our breakfasts (coffee, muesli, milk, bread and condiments). There are also tea and coffee supplies in the room (and a hairdryer, since this can be helpful to know). This lovely old house has tons of character. Both host and listing are highly recommended!
About the Host, Pauline
I lived in London for 20 years and in West Cork for 10. Now I'm back in the City where I live with my teenage son. We're both happy people and enjoy good music & good food and love meeting new people. Doing up this house has been my project for the last year and a half and is ongoing! Have been doing airbnb since last June and absolutely love it... have met the best people.... most of whom I wish lived down the road from me cos we'd be friends! Also totally understand if you want to just shut the bedroom door and BE.. I get that ..... and there lies the secret of being a 'host'...... in my humble opinion! x
