Enjoy a large private room and views of the ocean, Morro Rock, and avocado groves. Easy access to the beach, hiking trails and scenic Highway 1.
Private bedroom and bathroom and access to the rest of the house. The bedroom has a queen bed and large closet. There is a folding cot available for extra guests. Full bathroom is just across the hall.
You will have access to the full house except for the master bedroom/bath.
The living room is huge with an amazing view of the ocean and Morro Rock. There is also a large TV and a fireplace.
The deck also has great views of Rock, the ocean, and the surrounding farms and avocado groves. A great place to watch the sunset.
The kitchen is fully equipped and spacious. Breakfast will generally be help yourself from a selection of fruit and cereal, but if I'm cooking something I'll make enough for everyone.
Interaction with Guests
I work from home most of the time, so I will generally be around. I can help you find something interesting to do in the area.
Not that you will have any trouble finding something to do. Morro Bay itself has whale watching, kayaking, surfing, and great seafood.
10 minutes away is Los Osos with Montana de Oro state park, the Elfin Forest, and the Monarch butterfly migration.
15 minutes away is San Luis Obispo, with great hiking, the Madonna Inn, and one of the last remaining drive-in Theaters.
30 minutes inland is Paso Robles, the heart of the Central Coast's wine country and the site of the Mid-State Fair.
40 minutes up Highway 1 is Hearst Castle and the elephant seal breeding grounds.
Public transit isn't great, but there is a county wide bus system to get you between cities.
Other Things to Note
Parking is available right at the house.
Most restaurants in the area close between 8 and 9pm so if you plan on eating out you'll need to arrive before that.
Shoes are ok in the house if they are clean, otherwise please leave them at the door.
If you are having food, please use the dining table or the kitchen counter.
Don't worry about making the bed when you leave, I'll be changing the sheets anyway.
Phillips place is exactly as described in the listing. It has incredible views over Morro Bay and is a great place to relax in. We felt very welcome and actually cooked in for the first time during our 3 week vacation. The accommodation is well situated for those doing the Route 1 drive as we were and is very clean. Phillip was a friendly and laid back host. Thanks!
We truly enjoyed staying at Phillip's place. Great location, quiet and with a great view, and most of all he was very kind, accommodating, and helpful to us. Definitely a nice place to return.
Phillip was a great host. He joined us for dinner and surprised us with chocolate on our pillows. His house is amazing, situated on a hill overlooking the whole town of Morro Bay and the rock. We would have loved to stay longer.
Phillip's place was very convenient for the start of our Big Sur adventure, he communicates quickly and efficiently and did not have any issues with us checking in late. We love the extra comfort of water bottles and chocolate on the pillows and the fully stashed coffee bar. Beautiful view and situated in a cute quiet little town!
Great view of the beach from the apartment. Well connected to the highway but a very calm place. Phillip welcomed us kindly and we liked to stay at his place.
We indeed had a great stay.
Mixed feelings on this experience. Here's the good: We booked last minute and Phillip was very flexible; our plans changed unexpectedly and again Phillip was flexible and graciously accommodated our schedule; bed was clean and toiletry items were supplied as described; free parking and nice birds-eye view of the city and iconic rock. Points of hesitance: Honestly, Phillip is nice and obviously an experienced airbnb host that has it all logistically laid out. However, when it comes to hospitality and the overall experience my wife and I simply felt uncomfortable when trying to engage in conversation with the host as well as some of the items in the house. For example, the wall next to the dining table is covered in old swords and daggers which, as a guest in a strangers home, is quite disconcerting! Truthfully, this was a hard review to write because the other comments are very positive but it's our honest opinion and we personally would have been more comfortable staying at a hotel.
Philip was low key but friendly and helpful. His house is in a beautiful location with Morro Rock in the distance.

I am a programmer for a local software company. I enjoy meeting locals when I travel and I have a spare room, so I thought I'd offer it up to other travelers.
