Comfy bed for better sleep

The room-darkening shades and extra bedding are loved by guests.
Our Retreat guest house is totally separate & private from our home, though on the same property.We are 35 min to Nashville.Our amazing 1000 sq ft deck (mostly covered) w/ceiling fans overlooks the river -which our yard backs up to.On the deck is a fireplace, child’s swings & sandbox.Our suite is furnished w/a queen size bed, a window seat, a kitchenette, & a small eating area.There is a cozy 2nd bdrm w/a queen size bed, small closet & chair.We also have a 120" screen for amazing movie watching.

The space
There are 2 rooms for sleeping. 1 suite area with a queen size bed, a window seat and a queen size air mattress. The 2nd bedroom has a queen size bed, chair and closet. We also have an easy to set up ping pong table., a 120” projector screen and a sectional with 4 reclining chairs. The suite has a table with 4 chairs (plus 2 folding chairs) and a kitchenette which includes a full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven/ turbo oven, coffee pot, hot pot and sink. There is not a stove or full-size oven. There is also a bathroom with a shower. The bathroom has 1 step up to the commode and shower area. Also, there are 2 steps down into the suite from the front entry. Please note these steps if that makes this suite not a good fit for you.

Guest access
Access is at the rear of the carport which faces the street. There is a “River Retreat” sign next to the door. Behind the suite is an amazing covered deck with ceiling fans, comfortable seating around a fireplace, table and chairs for enjoying a meal, or barstools for sitting at the rear of the deck and enjoying the river view. There are two children’s swings, a small sandbox and a slide on the covered deck. There’s also corn hole, checkers, giant jinga, and binoculars for bird/ animal watching There are twinkle lights, overhead lights or accent lighting of your choice for the deck. We have a fenced in yard to the side of the deck. At the back of our property is a river which you may access at your own risk and using good judgement for safety. Normally the river is less than 4’ deep at the deepest directly behind our home but during times of excessive rain it will deepen. There is obviously no lifeguard - walking along and wading in is completely at your own risk and is very enjoyable to do. The premises are very enjoyable and relaxing and we live in a very nice, safe neighborhood perfect for walks.

Other things to note
Due to the river we have lots of birds. If you like bird watching, this will be a treat. There are sometimes kayakers that pass behind our home and people fishing from the opposite bank at times. Due to the river attracting birds, we tend to have very few mosquitos and the fans on the deck keep even those away.

Neighborhood highlights

We are in an wonderful neighborhood, very safe for walks or runs. We back up to the Stones River, are 5 minutes from the Greenway for bicycling or walking, and minutes from the Stones River Battlefield. We are also close a water park, a wonderful children’s park, the Avenue for shopping and many local restaurants.

Depending upon the river height, kayaks can sometimes be rented from a local company - you will need to communicate with them. They have routes that paddle down the river behind our home.

I am a wife, mother and grand mother and I love each of these roles. I also really enjoy working in my yard planting flowers and vegetables, and I enjoy spending time outside. I praise God for the amazing surroundings we enjoy with the river less than 100’ from our deck and yet we are so conveniently located to fun places. I love learning about all the wildlife that comes with a river in my backyard. I’ve seen turtles laying eggs in a hole and leaving them to hatch. A blue heron has made its home on our river and is frequently seen flying up and down the river. We’ve seen raccoons, an otter and lost 2 trees to a beaver’s “handiwork”. I have also enjoyed learning the history of our home. We live where the last day of fighting took place for the battle of Murfreesboro and are close enough to hear the cannons from the National Park when re-enactments are taking place. Sharing my home and the beauty of our backyard has also been such a pleasure.
