The Neighborhood

So hot and yet so cool, the Plateau moves to its own funky beat.
Designer fashion boutiques and funky stores: this working-class-turned-yuppie neighborhood with bohemian undercurrents is by far the grooviest scene in Montréal. Saint-Laurent Boulevard, where Montréal’s ethnic communities first set up shop, Saint-Denis Street with its designer boutiques and cafés, Prince-Arthur Street’s BYOW terraces and restaurants, and Mont-Royal Avenue’s trendy hotspots—is balanced by the tranquility and fresh air afforded by luxurious green spaces such as Park La Fontaine.

The Plateau by night heats up with as many choices of clubs, bars and cafés as you could think of, ranging from fashionable martini lounges to local microbrewery pubs to high-octane coffee shops. Throw in a thriving arts scene where local artists take to the stage nightly, and you’ve got the makings for a perfect night on the town.

You will be a bus ride away to many tourist destinations including the Mount-Royal (Sunday Tam Tams), botanical gardens and the Olympic Stadium. The apartment is Walking distance from a convenience store and a grocery store so stacking up on supplies will be a breeze. One block away there is a beautiful park that makes for nice summer walks.

Parking on the street has never been an issue but like every where in Montreal signs must be read for specific periods where parking is forbidden for 1-3 hours for street cleaning by the city.

Getting around

There is a bus stop 8 seconds from the front door of the building. In under 15 minutes you will be at Laurier metro station and from there the whole city is reachable through the underground! If you like to bike there is a bixi station one block away at your disposal for a quick bike rental. Taxis in the area usually arrive in under 10 minutes when called.

Other Things to Note

1. Early/Late checkin-out: If your apartment isn’t booked the day before there is no problem in checking in early. The same goes for a late check out if the apartment isn’t reserved for the afternoon of your departure.

2. Airport pick up/drop off: Depending on your time of arrival and or departure a pick up/drop can be arranged at a small fee (cheaper then a taxi - faster the public transportation)

3. Lost key: A lost key will result in a 10$ fee to have it replaced :-(

4. Animals: Unfortunately the building doesn’t allow pets...even the well behaved ones :(

5. Smoking: The building doesn’t tolerate smoking in the apartments nor its common spaces. If you choose to smoke outside cigarette buds must not be thrown on the ground :-)

6. Housekeeping: For extended stays I can provide a housekeeper to come clean the apartment for small fee. They will come at your selected time and will be quick but efficient.

Lastly Montréal is an amazing city with so much to discover and do...If I could list everything here I would but it would never end! That said once your travel dates are confirmed it will be my pleasure to relay to you every thing going on in the city during your specific dates!

  • David was a really great host! He was waiting for us at the apartment when we got there and was always really friendly and helpful via email/text leading up to and during our stay. The apartment is clean and spacious.

The apartment is only about a 10 min bus ride from the nearest metro (Laurier) and the bus stop is literally right outside the appt which was very convenient. Once you are at the subway you are only 2 stops away from downtown, so getting around was very easy.

I would highly recommend David and his place - great experience!
