Within walking distance of the very small but cute town of Bridgton. There is a good grocery store 5 minutes away (Hannaford's). Reny's in town is like a small-time Walmart (in a good way). The cabin has everything you would want (pots and pans, towels, soap) and is very comfortable and cozy. The cabin has neighbors- it is not isolated. We hardly observed the neighbors, but there is another small house/cabin in view as you look towards the lake. The cabin is ~50 ft from the water's edge. There is a nice cement dock on the lake with a table, umbrella and chairs for eating or relaxing by the water. The kayaks are inflatable, which aren't as nice as normal kayaks but we found they were clean and you can still get around in them. At the time of our trip (mid September) the lake was quite cool (not too cold to stand in but too cold to swim in). We enjoyed a hike at the nearby Pleasant Mountain.

My fiancé and I spent four nights at Jane's lake house. It was the perfect location off 302 to be able to enjoy all of our favorite spots in southern Maine. The house itself offered a beautiful view of Highland lake which included the use of 2 kayaks. It is a perfect getaway!

Such a gem, the photos don't do it justice! We stayed for a few days after our wedding and it was the perfect place to unwind, with plenty of restaurants and things to do. We spent more time in the little town of Bridgton, exploring the shops and chatting with the locals than we did on the lake (which is what we came for.!) We fell in love with the town here and the people who enjoy what they do every day! We did enjoy a kayak ride and relaxing on the dock on the warm day we had here. Make sure to grab a book at Bridgton books, the shop owner had some great recommendations.

My sister and I came to stay here for a long weekend away. This place was beyond perfect. Jane was warm and welcoming. The cabin was absolutely spotless. It is a perfect size for two people and had a full kitchen. The cabin is probably a 15 second walk to the lake, ideal for our relaxation! There is a supermarket and a few restaurants only a few minutes drive away. Saturdays, there is a small Farmer's market in town! With easy access to the water, table with chairs, and a few ‘floating’ devices, we spent the entire weekend with our books next to the lake! If you want to unwind with no stress, stay here. You will not regret it! Thank-you again, Jane for a wonderful stay.

Refreshed is how I feel after staying at Jane's Hilltop Cottage! It was just perfect for a four-night getaway. I slept through the entire night each night, which is not my norm. The water was glorious for swimming on a surprisingly quiet lake in early August in Maine. The cottage itself was so cute and had everything one could need. We made the quick walk to town three times during our stay. It was just terrific all around! Many thanks to our present yet unobtrusive host for the lovely visit!
