The Cottage was exactly what we were looking for, close to everything and yet still a feeling of getting away. Jane was a gracious host, and she made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The water access and kayaks were perfect, and the spot could not have been more ideal. I would definitely recommend the spot to anyone looking around the Lakes Region.
Jane was accommodating about our arrival time and welcomed us once we got there. We have had owners who wouldn't leave but Jane was perfect. The cottage was as advertised. This is an old fashioned rustic Maine cottage in the woods with many updates such as the kitchen and bathroom. The bed was comfortable. There are as many dishes, pans as one would need plus the necessities, coffee, sugar, etc. It is a steep walk down to the beach but we walked around on the road and it was much easier and not much further to walk. Very pleasant sitting at the table on the dock in the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If in the Bridgton area we would stay here again.
We had never been to Bridgton or the surrounding area and weren't sure what sort of atmosphere to expect, but the town, the lake and the cottage were all ideal. We are a couple in our 30s from NYC and were looking for a peaceful getaway where we could enjoy the fresh air, and this fit the bill perfectly. The cottage is an extremely well-appointed one-bed, one-bath unit with a balance of rustic atmosphere and essential convenience - we didn't lack for anything. Easy to find, with access to a dock and kayaks, and only a five- or ten-minute walk to most places in town (try the Standard Gastropub). Jane was a lovely host and we'd love to return sometime.
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage on Highland Lake. Jane was a warm and welcoming host. The cottage was roomy and comfortable with everything required to enjoy a pleasant time on the lake. Highland lake is not too large and while people were around, it was quite peaceful. The town of Bridgton is walking distance from the cottage so it was nice to be able to walk sometimes. It was nice to be just downhill from the lake, but not right on it. Those pesky little mosquitoes were fierce!
