Check out all my listings! :-) Please note, I don't accept reservations more than 3 months in advance...
This is a very unique, historic space right on the East River! Available for only a short time until the antique store re-opens; the space has been emptied and converted into a comfortable apartment while still retaining the charm of the boutique.
The Storefront is a lovely & light-filled space on the ground floor of a waterfront rowhouse with a big private garden in Brooklyn's booming Greenpoint Historic District, on the riverfront just north of bustling Williamsburg. Walk to the Bedford "L" subway stop, or just a few blocks to the Greenpoint "G" stop. East River Ferry service (with multiple stops in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens) is 2 blocks from the building, on the India Street waterfront, and many bus lines cross through the area as well. Plenty of restaurants, bars, boutiques, cafes, galleries, banks, gyms, etc all within blocks.
800 completely open interior square feet. This building was a loving & complete gut job from top to bottom, with all new electric and plumbing, but every effort was made to bring historical detailing back to this late 1800s commercial space. The Storefront features beautiful salvaged wood floors and a fantastic mid-1800s tin ceiling that was brought in from an old schoolhouse! You will find a cozy living area, a comfortable Queen-sized bed, a dining area with a basic kitchen (electric 2-burner cooktop, sink & refrigerator), a separate lavatory and an open-space clawfoot tub. (Note: a handshower attachment & hand-made copper ring enclosure have been installed, will update photos ASAP!) You'll also have exclusive use of the 1200 sq ft lovely landscaped garden, a true luxury in the city! WiFi access. There is a window A/C unit and an efficient ceiling fan, and there's generally a nice breeze off the river, too. There is no television in this rental, because you have better things to do here in NYC!
Commercial & residential dead-end street, terminating at Transmitter Park on the East River. Please be aware that this street is both commercial & residential; while the noise level is normal for NYC, this is not a "silent" apartment.
Privacy & comfort await!
*please note: you will have exclusive use of the garden during your visit... depending on the length of your stay, you'll likely be asked to water the plants when the weather is warm... :-)
I have a few listings available in this wonderful neighborhood, if you click on my profile you can check them all out.
Thanks for looking, and we look forward to hosting you in fantastic Greenpoint!
My sister and I had a wonderful time at Maya's storefront apartment - it was the second time I'd stayed in one of her rentals and both times were brilliant. The storefront is beautiful and very cosy - it was the perfect retreat from the cold after a day exploring. The bath/shower has very hot water, and the bed was extremely comfortable.
Transmitter Park is on the doorstep, which has amazing views of Manhattan. Greenpoint is the perfect area to stay in, and has wondering restaurants and cafes nearby - we used lots of the recommendations on Maya's list! Baked treats from Ovenly (a couple of doors down) were delicious, and we got pizza at Paulie Gee's twice.
Maya was extremely flexible and helpful on our last day when we had to leave our bags in the apartment for a late flight. Thanks so much, Maya!
I really enjoyed this! third time back to Greenpoint, which I like always more and the postion of this River Storefront is really unique. It is just beside a little park from which you can see at your left the "Freedom Tower" and at your right the "Empire State Building"!
The pictures in airbnb show precisely what you get. It is stylish and nevertheless functionally good. I love the bathtube in the living room with view in the garde. I loved the big storefront that gave me the impression of being connected with the world outside. I definitely will come back (if I do not decide to use some of Maya's other properties) :-)
Beautiful apartment in a great bohemian part of the city. I wish we could have moved in permanently.
Maya was a pleasure to deal with (quick replies to emails) and even printed us out a map of dozens of great stores, venues and restaurants in the area. It was cozy and warm, even in 20 degree evenings, with a very comfy bed. Only thing I'd recommend is earplugs as the sound from the street can travel in rather clearly.
I used to live in this neighborhood and I have to say I'm jealous I never got to live in a place like this. It's a beautiful spot, and everything you need from food to coffee to transportation is easily accessible from here. Greenpoint is one of my favorite neighborhoods in NYC and this is a great place to experience it from.
Maya was a great host...made sure we got in alright and then let us be until it was time to hand off the keys at the end.
My only criticism regarding the spot was that the shower situation is a little awkward. You have to hold the shower head above yourself and set it down for a free hand to wash. With lots of gaps in the shower curtain panes you get the feeling you might lose control of the head and spray water through them onto the floor. But hey it's not a dealbreaker and this is a converted commercial space so you kinda have to make due with things like that sometimes. No biggie!
My wife and i took a much needed weekend get-away for her 30th birthday and totally loved this little place! Maya was great at getting back via text and answering any questions we had. We look forward to coming back or maybe trying out one of Maya's other properties. Cheers!
Lovely place. Particularly cold winter meant that I had to bundle a bit inside. The place was exactly as described and great for what I needed. Restaurants right next door meant an easy dinner and delicious breakfast. Looking forward to a stay during warmer temperatures to enjoy the beautiful garden.
We had a wonderful stay at the storefront! It is a spacious, beautiful space with lots of character. Maya was very friendly and easy to communicate with. The area is great. Lots of cute shops and restaurants. We will definitely come back!
This place is amazing! We wanted to move in. Despite having lived in Greenpoint for a few years, this was still an entirely unique experience. It feels as if you are sleeping in an antique store. Without question this place is situated in the best part of GP, feet from the waterfront pier and blocks from great food. Also, if you happen to be driving, this is one of the few sections of town where you can still find street parking without much effort. Some others have complained about the shower, it's really not bad at all. A few things to note: you wont be making any real meals here as there is only a hot plate, but as already stated, there is plenty of great food options locally like Ms Kims and Brooklyn Label. At night, it can get a bit loud as patrons of the bar next door yap unknowing you are listening to their drunken rambles, but it's relatively mellow. There are way worse bars you could be next to in Brooklyn. We certainly plan to go back. Maya was a great host, while we never met her, she was always quick to reply and accommodate.
I'm stayed at Maya's storefront twice now and it's like winning the AirBnB lottery. It's beautiful inside, the back garden is lovely, the location right by the commuter park and a whole host of great Greenpoint restaurants and bars is perfect. Really perfect and uplifting.
The location is really nice, plenty of good bars and restaurants nearby. Getting to the apartment and getting inside was very easy due to Maya's very good instructions. The towels were dirty or just old though, and there was no hairdryer. When I wrote to Maya about that she didn't reply...
I was on the road without computer access during Dmitriy's stay but made sure that he had my cell # in case he had any questions; I never heard from him. I care very much about my guests -- and most certainly provide them with clean linens! -- as my 300+ positive reviews will attest :-)
