About this listing
Welcome to our lovely abode, located in one of Anchorage's most desirable and convenient neighborhoods! The available room is separate from the main living space and features its own bathroom, queen sized bed, queen futon, wifi, TV, and more!
Our home is in a long established residential neighborhood and has the unique feature of being located on 2 corners, so we have only one next door neighbor. Very quiet!
Private with plenty of room to chill out! The bedroom, bathroom, and coffee/tea prep area are on the first floor of our split level. Our bedroom and the main living space are upstairs, so everyone gets plenty of privacy and room to relax. The space features a queen sized pillow-top bed and a futon that can be made into a comfortable queen for additional guests. There is a flat screen TV with a Wii for movie streaming, and access to our powerful wifi. In the room we have a small bureau and closet space available, and our laundry room is just down the hall. There is a nook outside the bathroom with a coffee maker and tea kettle. It's stocked with coffee, tea, creamer, and more. If you'll be hanging out for a while, in the room there are loads of board games, a little library, and a record player with a sweet collection of tunes.
For the convenience of our guests, you may arrange to drop off your bags and pick up the key prior to your actual check-in if you would like. Just let us know what works for you, and we'll figure it out! Guests are welcome to enjoy our yard or use our small home gym. We have a cozy retro kitchen upstairs and we can always make a little room in the fridge for your goodies.
Interaction with Guests
We like getting to know our guests, but we also enjoy our privacy. We imagine the feeling for our visitors is much the same - and so we have designed the space almost like its own apartment where there is room to hang out & relax - not just a place to sleep.
We are within walking distance of several excellent restaurants - such as Anchorage's favorite pizza pub, Moose's Tooth (not to be missed!!!). We are also located just one block from the city's extensive trail system, which is used year round for walking & biking and becomes groomed ski trails in the winter. We are only a 5 minute drive from downtown, 10-15 minutes to the airport, and our location makes it easy to hop on or off the Seward Highway to head North (Talkeetna, Denali, Fairbanks) or South (Seward, Kenai, Homer).
There is plenty of on-street parking right in front of our house. The People Mover bus has several stops in each direction, just a 5 minute walk from the house. Also, getting around via cab is easy & inexpensive due to our central location.
Other Things to Note
If you're not into pets, our place may not be for you. Our dogs love visitors and our cat takes a bit to warm up... but once they know you, they'll fall in love and want to run away with you! Bailey & Penelope can go out back in the fenced yard anytime, and Jack the cat is free to go in & out the front or back. Being a beagle, Bailey will take whatever chance she can to follow her nose - so please be aware of closing the door firmly behind you, latching the gate, and so on. We'd hate to lose our little runaway. We have a doggy gate that keeps the pups upstairs, but they love popping downstairs for a visit when our guests are up for it.
We keep the house locked at night, so please follow suit and also make sure the door is locked when coming & going. Also, because the latch is funky it needs a little extra push or pull (listen for the click) when closing, or it will swing open on its own. Please keep food out of the dogs' reach when you're not around - feel free to store it in our kitchen. A little people food snack is fine, but we don't want them scarfing down your dozen donuts. No smoking inside, but it's a-ok outside. Otherwise, we just ask that you abide by the Golden Rule and use your common sense!
Faith and Danny's place was awesome, and exactly as advertised. They're there when you need them, but the actual space is separate so you can have alone time if you need that as well. Faith went out of her way to be super welcoming even before our trip started. We communicated over email for a while before we made it to Alaska and I can honestly say that our trip was better based on the suggestions Faith made. We got ideas for great additions to our adventure. Super nice couple, and the place was perfect for the start and end of our trip!

This was such a fantastic place to stay I didn't want to leave. Faith and Danny are 2 of the nicest people, their dogs adorable and their house cute and convenient. The room is spacious, with an incredibly comfortable bed. The bathroom was spotless. While I didn't use it, there was a washer/dryer. Wifi strong. And the coffee/tea/snack nook was very appreciated. They made me feel right at home. I would stay here again if I'm every back in Anchorage.
Faith is an experienced Airbnb host. You know she's put in an effort when you see how well prepared her place is. I got the entire basement to myself with a nice private bathroom.
Faith and Danny were great hosts. The directions to get to their place from the airport were accurate and easy to follow. The neighborhood is quiet and allowed for a great nights sleep. Faith had many recommendations for restaurants and activities in Anchorage. The bed was super comfy. Faith even offered the use of the washer and dryer which was very nice. Faith also provided a birthday treat for us which was a thoughtful gesture. I would recommend staying here. Our experience was great. The dogs were welcoming and made us miss our dog back home.
We loved staying here! It was very clean, the room was even cuter than in the photos, and it had plenty of fun extras (record player, access to movies, books, coffee/tea). Danny and Faith were very accessible and hospitable. Their binder with suggestions on local hangouts led us to one of the funnest nights we had in Anchorage. Would recommend this stay to anyone!
Hi Faith & Danny,
Thanks for everything I had an awesome time in Anchorage and especially staying at your place made it even better. Thanks for your hospitality and all the best for your dog, hope she's doing better now.
This is a very nice place, comforatble bed, own bathroom, everything is clean. I really liked it.
About the Host, Danny & Faith
We love our home and enjoy sharing it with our friends and family - so we thought we'd give airbnb a shot and meet some new folks! We started hosting in June of 2014 and we have really enjoyed the experience. We have been together for ages and married since 2007. We're crazy about our furry four-legged family members, and we think you'll fall for them, too!
This is Faith here - I'll be your main point of contact. I've lived here for 15 years, but I grew up in Maine and stay well connected with my roots. I'm the right brain in this duo - music and art are two of my passions. Danny is Alaska Grown and has traveled extensively in Ireland, where his extended family lives. He's a serious darts player and likes keeping up with worldwide sports and spending time with his large local family. Oh yeah... and cuddling up with Jack The Cat, Beagle Bailey, and Penelope - our ragamuffin Westie mix. Did I mention those cuties?
Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions from potential guests:
Is a late arrival ok? Absolutely! We are used to folks coming into AK on red-eye flights. Just let us know ahead of time, and we'll arrange for you to get in and catch some ZZZZs.
What's the parking situation? We have lots of on-street parking right by the house. Our guests usually park directly out front, in a spot just to the left of our driveway. On the rare occasion that a neighbor is already occupying that spot, there are plenty of others nearby.
What about guests with cat allergies? Because our cat has free range around the house, we can't accommodate pet allergies. We do provide a fresh clean room to each of our guests, but we recommend that folks with cat allergies seek accommodations elsewhere. Meow!
How flexible are check-in/out times? In general, check-in is usually after 3pm and check-out is before noon. However, we have guests arrive and leave at all hours. Just let us know what your preferred times are, and we'll work it out. When we have back-to-back guests, we do need a couple of hours in between to clean the room.
Can I store my luggage at your house while out & about? Of course! Our guests frequently need a place to stash their bags even after checking out, rather than lugging them around town while waiting for a late flight home.
We hope to offer you all the comforts of home and then some. Got questions? Shoot us a message and we'll get back to you in a jiffy. Happy trails!
