I'll never forget my experience staying at Casa De Jule. The house itself is a work of art. It was incredibly private and serene and well equipped. Cooking in the kitchen with the big doors open to the patio was a dream and the bathroom upstairs is unreal with a huge bathtub. Even the outdoor shower was always the perfect temperature. Sleeping on the outdoor bed under the stars was such a beautiful experience and I loved having the option of sleeping inside or out. The house even had a landline which was very helpful for calling taxis. We saw lots of monkeys hanging out on the property (howlers and capuchins) and the area it's situated in has a lot of great nature to explore. Joachim and his property manager Leanne were so helpful and kind and made sure we had everything we needed and then some. My partner and I spent a month visiting different towns along the Nicoya Peninsula but Montezuma and Casa De Jule will definitely stay in our minds as our favourite spot and we can't wait to visit again.
Casa del Jule is a fantastic funky place to hang out. The house is a work of art and the hosts Joachim and Leanne are very nice and quite helpful and knowledgable. We loved picking fresh fruit on the property and hanging out at the very quiet beach across the road. Would totally recommend staying here when in Montezuma.
Great location a short walk to the beach but far enough from the road to avoid the dust. The house is unique and charming but don't expect a Holiday Inn like place. The kitchen worked out well and eating on the porch was wonderful. We love sleeping in the bed on the open porch and looking at the stars. We saw no biting bugs (dry season) so sleeping out was great. It is in the trees and we had monkeys in the trees 15 feet from us and lots of birds. !It is almost exactly half way between Montezuma and Cabuya. We would love to go back.
This house was wonderful and exactly what we wanted! When house is advertised as "jungle house" they are not lying. Saw howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, iguanas, butterflies, and more! Leanne was extremely helpful and her recommendations, specifically Guillermo for surfing, were so helpful.
We had such a great time in Costa Rica and a wonderful stay at this lovely and unique home. Leanne was very helpful and knowledgeable. We arrived late in the evening after driving from Liberia airport - an adventure in itself as it is about a 5 hour trek, part of which is on a challenging beach/dirt road. Thankfully we were prepared thanks to Leanne's advice. Having a 4x4 vehicle really made a difference for our time there (though beware of companies that overbook at busy times - we nearly didn't get a car!). We spent a lot of time exploring the area and drove to Mal Pais / Santa Teresa a couple of times as well as to Cobano for groceries.
The house design is fun and practical. We felt connected to the outside world at all times. Cooked meals in a well-equipped kitchen and saw lots of creatures (lizards, monkeys, even a family of racoons who liked the smell of our dinner) while hearing many more.
The location was perfect for us, so close to a beautiful beach and not a far drive to either Montezuma or Cabuya, Leanne's recommendations were spot on (especially horseback riding with El Pinto, the hike up Los Cedros, and the Bakery in Cabuyo). I can't wait to return to this beautiful country.
Great house! A little bit of a walk from the beach - not too far, but kind of tough at night or at dusk. Great kitchen, well appointed. Fantastic setting.
Amazing place, we had a very nice stay in this jungle house
We loved Casa de Jule and my boyfriend and I still think about the charming atmosphere and the jungle. Although we were housed in, there were large windows and doors, and no walls (on the second floor) that made it possible for us to connect with nature at all times. We all agreed that the place was exactly what we needed to get away from North American city life - as a place of rest, healing and relaxation. The hammocks on the main floor, the fruit trees (mangoes and carambole), the sounds of the jungle in the morning, the open concept and the unique, artistic feel of Casa de Jule have made our stay at Montezuma a blessing. The beach can also be heard, and only 5-10 minutes away on foot. Leanne and her husband were great hosts - super friendly, prepared and informative, and warm. We hope to come back in the future.
We had a wonderful time at Casa de Jule! So we would be happy for anybody who joined us in this experience. The house itself is a piece of art. As Austrians, it reminded us very much of the architecture and art of Hundertwasser - very colourful, creative, and hardly any straight walls. The kitchen on the groundfloor is fully equipped with whatever you could wish for, ranging from different types of pans to a large fridge and even a blender for making your own smoothies and juices. The bathroom on the first floor allows you to look out into the jungle while taking a shower and the bedroom on the second floor takes you on the same level as the monkeys around you. Just great! The house has wifi and its own fountain so you can safely drink the tab water (which is an exception and very convenient). Moreover, Leanne and her husband - the property managers - live in Montezuma and are easily reachable. Also Joachim was easily reachable online, very flexible, kind and very helpful! The house is situated in a large garden full of flowers and plants we had never seen before and where animals frequently stop by to take a look at what you do. It is only about a 3-5 minutes to Playa de Cedros, a beautiful beach which is (relatively) safe to swim and which is populated by surfers every morning and evening. As a recommendation, please get a 4x4 car: The roads are messy, the evenings are short and the nights are dark, and it's very difficult to buy stuff (e.g. from local fishermen or the markets in Cobano which is 10km away from Montezuma) and get around without a car. We enjoyed our holidays very much and would love to come back!
The most magical, whimsical house we've ever been to. Unique lay out, lots and lots of wildlife right outside our windows, right across from the beach..we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Right in the middle of Montezuma and Cabuya. We rented mountain bikes for a nice ride to each town.
Leanne was awesome..lively and cheery with great recommendations and advice.
Highly recommend Casa de Jule.
Thank you again!
