Interaction with Guests
We do not live in the area, so our guests will not personally meet us. Entry to the cottage is via a key pad on the door, so no keys are required. The access code is shared with guests before their arrival.
Bobcaygeon is a small, rural tourist area that is actually on an island. No public transit available; easy to walk everywhere after parking your car in town.
1) Pets are welcome, but not allowed inside the house due to potential scratching of the hardwood floors and the leaving of allergens for future guests to react to. Please bring your own cage/kennel for your pet and something to tie them up with outside (if they are a large dog).
2) Guests wishing to use any extra equipment (kayaks, canoe, paddleboat, bicycles) accept full responsibility for responsible use of these items.
3) Although we charge a nominal cleaning fee, Guests are asked to tidy up after themselves, sweep, put the garbage in the outside bins, load the dishwasher, and throw the linens/towels in the laundry. Guests are not expected to make the beds, wash floors and bathrooms, etc.
4) to respect the privacy and quiet nature of the other homes around, no loud outside noise after 11:00pm please.
Beautiful cottage! We had a fatastic stay. Everyone in our party loved it. Stella was easy to arrange plans with and is very diligent in replies. Even being away she stayed intouch.
My family and I stayed at Stella's cottage from Aug 6-9th, and for 7 adults and 1 child, there was plenty of room. There are 4 bedrooms: main floor bedroom has a Queen sized bed with an ensuite bathroom (tub, no shower) and the second floor has 3 bedrooms: one queen sized bed, one fold out queen size sofa bed, and one single bed. There's even an extra bed in the second floor family room! Plus there's a second bathroom on the second floor with a shower.
The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans, dishes and cutlery, and the BBQ is very handy for summertime BBQs. The backyard is large with plenty of space for lounging around, and it has direct access to the lake. Although it isn't a cottage with a dock for swimming, Stella has 2 kayaks, 1 large canoe and a paddleboard (+ lifejackets)!
You do have to supply your own toilet paper, paper towels and bathroom towels (understandably). If you're looking for a cottage with a lake to swim in, this probably isn't the best option. The lake around the cottage has lots of algae and vegetation, but it's perfect for canoeing around. We saw some people swimming in the middle of the lake so if you're okay with that then off you go!
Overall Stella's was the perfect summer cottage for my family and I, and is definitely recommended!! Thanks Stella!!
Nice and peaceful lake side house. We enjoyed staying there. Stella gave good communication. Thanks.
Wonderful cottage with a serene lake. Stella made my group feel very welcomed. The sand bar was an extra treat and I loved the kayaks! Definitely, would stay again.
Stella's log house on a rural road was large and roomy enough for our family of 8 adults and 3 children under 4. The master suite and 2 upstairs bedrooms accommodated 3 couples, one couple slept in a tent outside, 1 toddler slept on cot in office (4th BR). The 2.5 bathrooms were appreciated by our large group also.
The huge backyard was great for kids to play safely. Reeds at rear make it private. Kayaks, canoes and paddleboats (with life jackets) were used (we didn't find the bikes). Since there is no immediate beach, we went to public beach in nearby Bobcaygeon.
We found everything we needed in the kitchen including a coffee-maker (after sorting out the cupboards- an issue that happens with lots of guests putting things back). Toddlers enjoyed the activity centre/jumper and FP corn-popper.
Stella communicated clearly and promptly (once I used the correct Airbnb email link) and everything was as described and pictured.
Unfortunately, the neighbours to the north were not as courteous as Stella's guests are asked to be. They arrived on the weekend and their loud music and talking until 2am seriously disturbed our sleeping comfort on our final night.
This was a beautiful lake house and my friends and I (6 women plus a baby) had a great time spending 2 nights there. We all slept comfortably on beds or a cot. There was lots of comfortable seating inside and a lovely deck with some seating outside as well. The property is beautiful and the neighbourhood was nice and fairly quiet.
I never met Stella but she was very helpful over email. She provided lots of information far in advance of our arrival, and she promptly answered all my questions.
