Interaction with Guests
We do not live in the area, so our guests will not personally meet us. Entry to the cottage is via a key pad on the door, so no keys are required. The access code is shared with guests before their arrival.
Bobcaygeon is a small, rural tourist area that is actually on an island. No public transit available; easy to walk everywhere after parking your car in town.
1) Pets are welcome, but not allowed inside the house due to potential scratching of the hardwood floors and the leaving of allergens for future guests to react to. Please bring your own cage/kennel for your pet and something to tie them up with outside (if they are a large dog).
2) Guests wishing to use any extra equipment (kayaks, canoe, paddleboat, bicycles) accept full responsibility for responsible use of these items.
3) Although we charge a nominal cleaning fee, Guests are asked to tidy up after themselves, sweep, put the garbage in the outside bins, load the dishwasher, and throw the linens/towels in the laundry. Guests are not expected to make the beds, wash floors and bathrooms, etc.
4) to respect the privacy and quiet nature of the other homes around, no loud outside noise after 11:00pm please.
Stella was good with initial contact to give us all of the information required, which was greatly appreciated. During our stay I didn't try to contact her because everything was straight forward at the cottage, and I appreciated the fact that she's not one of those hosts that keeps contacting you. The cottage itself was great, but we definitely had to move furniture. I can see why furniture movement is a big theme because it just doesn't work for groups of over four (there is no dining area for over 4). We avoided any problems by taking pictures and returning everything to its original state. We did a winter trip, so we didn't explore the surrounding area too much, but on our walk it looked pretty quaint. I would book again with Stella.
Rented for Christmas Eve : so pleased !
Beautiful cottage !!
Stella give us all the information we need.
I recommend it !!
The lake house was charming, clean and spacious with a beautiful view of the lake. The location was quiet and conveniently located just a quick drive away from the town of Bobcaygeon.
Settling in is nearly a turn-key operation, just don't forget to bring your own hand soap and paper products!
The host was friendly and responsive.
I would definitely go back!
We had a wonderful time staying at Stella's cottage on the lake, being a party of five we had plenty of facilities to use including a great grill, canoe and kayaks, resting next to the fireplace after a good dinner was perfect. Stella was a great host to concert with even though we never met and all instructions were given prior to arrival. We highly recommend Stella's cottage!
Stella was a very prompt and responsive host. If we had any questions about the place she got back to us very quickly. In addition, the place is well-stocked with various kitchen gadgets and tools, meaning that even more elaborate meals aren't beyond your ability here. All her instructions regarding canoe use, etc. were clear and on point, and we had no issues with using any of the equipment.
It is worth noting a few small things that came up. We did not realize that we would need to provide our own basics, such as toilet paper, paper towel, saran wrap, etc. Might've missed this in the correspondence though. In addition, the sauna upstairs was difficult to figure out, as I believe it is an infrared sauna and not a traditional sauna. Check with the host if you want to use it, and in the future some instructions would be appreciated. In addition, there is a lack of lighting in the kitchen area, making cooking at night very difficult - easily remedied with a pot light in the ceiling.
Despite these minor issues, the place was great, Stella was a wonderful host, and I would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking for a spacious yet private getaway. I hope to come back!
Stella was great in responding any inquiry timely. The cottage was as described. Only 10 min drive from town where u can get Tim's coffee. One thing I misunderstood was that I thought the two single beds was in one bedroom. It turned out one single bed is in the office and one in the living room. Needed to change our room plan accordingly but not too big a deal.
Stella was amazing to deal with.
The cottage was even more than what my friends and I expected. Can't wait to go back again :)
We are from Bobcaygeon, Ontario. My husband is a high school teacher and I am a business owner. We live a very simple life and strive to leave a small footprint on the world around us. We happily live in a log cabin built with cedar logs from our own 50 acres. We enjoy our 3 grandchildren as often as we can and love sharing our beautiful cottage on AirBNB with guests.
