Our custom built log home comes with access to a full size family canoe, one BBQ, main floor and upper level decks and an inside woodstove. Fully furnished with all bedding, kitchen supplies and appliances (bring your own groceries and paper products - unfortunately, people kept stealing the toilet paper). Private main level Master Bedroom with king size bed, attached bath and French doors opening to the sunroom; upstairs queen bed, double bed, 2 adorable alcove sleeping spots for kids and even an extra cot in the private office!
Direct lake access for canoeing right from the back yard. No private beach area on the property, but a great beach is available via a short canoe, and more beaches a 5 minute drive away; popular sandbar for swimming a 5 minute canoe paddle away! Children's playground within walking distance; quiet, dead end road. NOTE - this is not a secluded, wilderness location; there are other homes on the street.
Fabulous eastern facing location provides beautiful sunrises over the lake. Pigeon Lake is warm and great for bass and perch fishing. The huge backyard features a large stone firepit for those cool nights and toasty marshmallows. Have a look at our pics and you'll love what you see!
IMPORTANT - this is a large, over 2500 square foot two story home in a rural neighbourhood on a beautiful lake. It is, however, not a resort and is highly booked all year long. If you need an absolutely spotless and immaculate space, our cottage might not be the best fit. Often we have barely 2 hours to clean between bookings (we have a late checkout to give guests as much time as possible on the day they leave) and although we do our best, it is impossible to have every crumb and speck of dust taken care of every time. Lake homes in the country will always have more dust and insects than homes in urban areas; please bear this in mind in order for your expectations to align with the realities of 'a vacation in the country'.
Guests have full access to private parking, Pigeon Lake via canoe and huge back yard.
Interaction with guests
We do not live in the area, so our guests will not personally meet us. Entry to the cottage is via a key pad on the door, so no keys are required. The access code is shared with guests before their arrival.
Other things to note
The property is located on a large, environmentally protected wetland. We are not legally allowed to alter any aspect of the water front. There are gorgeous views of the lake and 'walls of windows'. Some of the lake view is in the protected wetland so you will see tall cattails at the back of the property. This provides privacy but does mean that some of the view of the lake directly is slightly limited.
We require that you disclose, when booking, the total number of guests including children and infants. We do not accept more than 8 people; children/infants included.

We live near Inverary, Ontario. My husband is a retired high school teacher and I am a business owner. Together we also work on our organic apple orchard and market gardens. We live a very simple life and strive to leave a small footprint on the world around us. We enjoy our 6 grandchildren (okay, and their parents too) as often as we can and love sharing our properties on AirBNB with guests.
