We had an outstanding weeklong stay at Steph's place. Because the Druid Cottage was already booked, Steph graciously agreed to rent us her place. Her whole house is imbued with the spirit of a Celtic artist and we loved the cozy atmosphere. It has a full kitchen, but we mostly used it for breakfast before heading out for the day. Across the road from her place is a roadside farm store that will even take orders for fresh bread to be delivered the following day. Communications with Steph were easy. Because both her house and cottage were rented, we didn't actually get to meet Steph but did meet the people who she had stop by to see if we were doing OK. We enjoyed the company of her two cats in the evening while reading by the warmth of the peat stove.
It was wonderful to experience the heart of the Irish countryside at Steph's beautiful cottage. Although it is hidden in a maze of small country roads, Steph's directions were clear and we had no trouble finding it. The beds were comfortable and the wifi worked perfectly, as did everything else. We loved sitting out in the courtyard on our one sunny day and curling up by the fire when it rained. The kitchen is large and has everything and the bath above the kitchen is very deluxe. The cottage comes with two lovely cats who love to come in for cuddles. One, Smudge, is born to be photographed and poses beautifully. We really felt at home. It was very easy and pleasant to communicate with Steph and Kate, who let us in, was a delightful young woman. We loved it and would definitely stay again.
This is a great place to stay, charming and beautifully decorated and Steph is a lovely host, kind and helpful. My room was pretty and the bed comfortable. Set in beautiful countryside, overlooking connemara ponies in a field. I found this a calm & inspirational place to be, with Steph, and her gossamer knitwear designs, the cottage and the setting. Thankyou Steph! x
Druid Cottage is quite simply the perfect getaway, and Steph the perfect host. I spent a delightful and productive week here getting some writing done and wandering around the area, interspersed with chats with Steph about life, the universe and everything. She was also kind enough to show me her exquisite work -- highly recommended. My chats with the cats were equally enjoyable. The weather was unseasonably cold so I'm afraid I went through quite a lot of peat logs, but the stove kept things nice and warm. Though I didn't do much exploring this time around, Glendree is an ideal jumping-off point for poking around Co. Clare and western Ireland, and a quick 40-minute jaunt from Shannon airport. Ideal all around. Will definitely be back!
We had a super relaxing few days at Steph's house. Steph was very helpful and friendly. And the house was cosy and peaceful - as well as being in the middle of a beautiful area. After travelling around County Clare during the day, it was great to come back to a house full of artwork and decorations, light a peat fire and enjoy being in the middle of the countryside!
We had a perfect holiday while staying at Stephs. She is so nice, caring and gives great tips about the area. The cottage was quaint and cozy with a nice little fireplace and everything one would need. The garden is a lovely place to sit in on a sunny day with pretty views, sweet cats, and a great place to take a walk. The location could not be better, it is nice and quiet but also centrally located to some of our favorite and most popular places on the west coast. Would love to go back!

Dublin born I moved to Co.Clare in 1978 to immerse myself in my passion of textiles, taking delight in meeting a diverse range of clients and supplying some of the best galleries of Craft & Design in Ireland.
When I am not in Ireland with family, friends, work, trekking rolling hills and sparse beaches my second love is for France. All the Medival villages, Art Galleries , the Pyrenees all just call me back over and over again so I bought a little Studio there! I gather inspiration for my designs in Ireland and my dreams in France. I love to photograph anything that makes an impression on me, for instance in France it's the old doors and stone buildings, in Ireland it is the seascape images with sea plants, waves, rope, shells etc, which all later translate into a design through the use of the best quality luxuriously soft natural yarns.
I've managed to leave this beautiful green isle many times to visit far lands, these days 'Druid Cottage' enables me to meet interesting people from all over this beautiful globe many from places I have been and many are still in contact. I appreciate my home and family and feel very lucky to be living in such a wonderful place. I have great friends and neighbors and enjoy winter evenings by the fire with a good book or in the company of friends, either in France or Ireland.
The 5 things I cant live without are: family, friends, books, textiles and my good health naturally.
I loved traveling in Asia, Vietnam especially where the people are so genuine, curious and sociable. Love traveling everywhere cities, jungles, sea snorkeling.... my books include Stig Larsson, Kate Moss and many more especially those depicting cultural differences. Music depends on my mood and as for food I eat most everything depending how it is farmed. I like to shop local and see how the animals are cared for is important to me, still a bit reluctant to eat mammals.
My hosting consists of meeting people, which I enjoy but I also like to give people some space as I also really like my space, striving to enjoy this wonderful life and planet everyday.
Bye for now, hope to meet you someday.... check out my reviews!
