Description

The Space

A perfect springboard for visiting nearby attractions such as The Burren National Park, Connemara, Kerry local places of interest and many wonderful walks nearby and beyond. If you like quiet this cottage is also ideal for reading, writing, study, research or simply a rest after traveling.
The nearest shops and pubs are 6 miles away, in both directions, 2 Take Outs in Tulla and Pub Grub in Feakle.
Feakle is famous for it's Music Festival in August and the Pubs host local musicians throughout the year.
The house is 45mins from Shannon airport, 45 mins to Galway City, 40mins to Limerick City, 30 mins to larger towns like Ennis and Gort. The spectacular coast is 45 mins travelling through the scenic Burren National Park. Hill walking is everywhere as are fishing, horse riding, pubs, golf, boating and lots more to be discovered.
Originally a small two roomed thatched cottage, this farm house was converted to a two story slate roof when emigrants of the 1800's sent money home. Many renovations later includes a large bathroom and kitchen. Improvements are ongoing, this year has replaced window glass and decorating is often in process between guests!
The cottage is owner occupied, however on request you could have the place to yourselves, enjoy some self catering or breakfast provided, your choice. The facilities include one bedroom, living room with solid fuel burner, kitchen, large bathroom with solar heated water and baby equipment such as travel cot, high chair, toys and stair gate.
Although situated on a quiet, rural, hillside the cottage is not so isolated, there are friendly neighbours nearby, in both directions. Also the land which surrounds the cottage is visited briefly by farmer most days.
Public transport is very limited, car hire or own transport is recommended. We do now have one bicycle if you are fit for hills!
The collage photos are credited to the talented Lou Endicott who created amazing images while staying at Druid's cottage, next door.

Guest Access

Garden and hillside walks.

Interaction with Guests

I love to meet the guests, share stories and also respect their space to do their own thing.

The Neighborhood

Amongst the rolling soft, lumpy hills with lakes and a very green golf course we have fishing, Hill walking, clean air and spring water. The friendly neighbours are helpful, you can meet them along the small roads and country walks of the area. We now enjoy farm fresh organic veg, cheese, milk, meat in season, just across the road from the cottage!! Do read the reviews for Glendree cottage and Druid cottage .....

Getting Around

Best to have your own transport but for long term guests we do also have a bicycle.

Other Things to Note

If you are looking for a quiet space to study and wish to focus on getting your work done, without thinking of shops and food. I will supply you with meals at a cost to be arranged.

Dublin born I moved to Co.Clare in 1978 to immerse myself in my passion of textiles, taking delight in meeting a diverse range of clients and supplying some of the best galleries of Craft & Design in Ireland.
When I am not in Ireland with family, friends, work, trekking rolling hills and sparse beaches my second love is for France. All the Medival villages, Art Galleries , the Pyrenees all just call me back over and over again so I bought a little Studio there! I gather inspiration for my designs in Ireland and my dreams in France. I love to photograph anything that makes an impression on me, for instance in France it's the old doors and stone buildings, in Ireland it is the seascape images with sea plants, waves, rope, shells etc, which all later translate into a design through the use of the best quality luxuriously soft natural yarns.
I've managed to leave this beautiful green isle many times to visit far lands, these days 'Druid Cottage' enables me to meet interesting people from all over this beautiful globe many from places I have been and many are still in contact. I appreciate my home and family and feel very lucky to be living in such a wonderful place. I have great friends and neighbors and enjoy winter evenings by the fire with a good book or in the company of friends, either in France or Ireland.
The 5 things I cant live without are: family, friends, books, textiles and my good health naturally.
I loved traveling in Asia, Vietnam especially where the people are so genuine, curious and sociable. Love traveling everywhere cities, jungles, sea snorkeling.... my books include Stig Larsson, Kate Moss and many more especially those depicting cultural differences. Music depends on my mood and as for food I eat most everything depending how it is farmed. I like to shop local and see how the animals are cared for is important to me, still a bit reluctant to eat mammals.
My hosting consists of meeting people, which I enjoy but I also like to give people some space as I also really like my space, striving to enjoy this wonderful life and planet everyday.
Bye for now, hope to meet you someday.... check out my reviews!
