Interaction with Guests
We make warm introductions and then leave our guests in peace. We do our best to be home when our guests arrive, and always introduce ourselves when we return home if we were absent at their arrival.
Quiet, rural feel but close to town. Our neighbor's donkey J.J. creates a wonderful ambiance when added to the background cacophony of our own goats, chickens and turkeys.
Bus stop is considered by some as "within walking distance", but you would do best in Taos with your own vehicle.
Absolutely no smokers or smoking of anything in apartment! Even smoking outside is a no-no.
No pets. We are keeping this rental pet-free to support allergy sufferers. We have pets on the property, but not in the apartment.
We will always be as conscious of keeping a quiet environment for our guests as possible and ask the same in return. We do, however, share a wall with the apartment so you may at times hear our 6 year old, or our coffee grinder.
This listing can not accommodate more than 4 very cuddly people. Best for 1-3 friendly adults or maximum of 2 adults and 2 children. We will try to provide a shoe horn if you are a family of 4.
If stay is longer than 2 weeks, a $70 cleaning deposit will be added, in addition to the cleaning fee ($35) already included in the price. After cleaning of rental is completed, some or all of this deposit may be refunded, depending on time taken to clean. Most cleaning supplies are provided in apartment. Owners are happy to loan out their vacuum to guests if desired.
This sofa has been replaced with a fold out double futon for extra bodies. We'll change the photo soon!
The listing was just as described. Very nice place to stay and relax. Our hosts were warm, friendly and very helpful offering things to do and places to eat while in the area. We enjoyed fresh eggs and lettuce from their organic farm. The area offered nice place to take walks in the cool morning air with beautiful mountain views. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to make breakfast and also had organic coffee which we enjoyed. I would highly recommend staying there.
Great place, wonderful family, cute goats, chickens, turkeys and dogs! MacLaren and her family were wonderful hosts!
MacLaren was a very warm and welcoming host. The apartment was cozy and comfortable. The views are spectacular in a very quiet area near Taos. Although we didn't have time to take a farm tour, it was evident that MacLaren and her family have invested a great deal of care and love into their property. We will definitely choose this site again for any visits in the future.
We are traveling from East to West Coast and staying here was like staying at our own home! The farm is very relaxing and quiet with incredible vistas and air that we could eat with a spoon, not mentioning the very comfortable bed. If you end up staying here, do not pass on buying whatever the owner has to offer from the farm. Those are absolutely the best eggs and milk products we had ever tried. We are pretty sure that we will not be able to buy something like this again unless we get our own farm. Ask her to make Cajeta.
The very positive reviews are well-deserved and accurate. This flat is not only sweet and cozy but spotless and quiet. We stayed 4 nights and found it a good base to explore Taos and lots of the surrounding area. It's too far to walk to the center of Taos but 10 minutes in the car does it. The hosts are promptly communicative, welcoming and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay. p.s. The price is good value for money.
The location is at the end of a street with large lots—so a lot of separation between houses and the area is very quiet. Nearby there are trails in the national forest that are great for running and mountain biking, although the nearby dirt and paved roads are lightly traveled and also nice for riding and running.
The living space is attached to the owners’ home but because of its layout it flows nicely. It has a bedroom, living room with eating area, bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, dishes, coffee maker, microwave and pots and pans.
We really enjoyed being out of the bustle of town and surrounded by mountains in this quiet setting.
Our daughter really enjoyed learning about the goats, chickens and turkey and she was lucky enough to milk a goat. It was really special for her to see how things are done on a small-holding. MacLaren and Randy were very nice hosts…respecting our privacy but also helpful and fun to talk to.
It was a great experience for us to stay with MacLaren. The bed was supercomfortable, it was very quiet at night, the location was good and close to everything we needed. The hosts gave us a tour of their little farm and we bought some of their delicious eggs and sauerkraut
About the Host, MacLaren
We (MacLaren and Randy) live on a small, urban farm where we raise chickens, turkeys, bees, milking goats, have a large garden, and a young fruit orchard. I manage the farm, homeschool our 6 yr old daughter, and make various farm goodies which I sell to cover costs of animals feed and farm supplies (chicken and turkey eggs, fresh goat milk, chevre, feta, dairy kefir, cajeta, goat milk caramels, water kefir, sauerkraut, kimchee, and lotion bars). My husband, Randy, is a park manager for the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. The remainder of our family includes our loving rescue Pyrenees, Molly, and our rescued sibling kitties Bella and Ivy. We enjoy caring for our farm, eating locally, and engaging in many outdoor pursuits, including white water rafting and canoeing, camping, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, etc.
