It is situated on a quiet single lane in a peaceful old neighborhood, complete with meandering turkeys and the wild parrots that occasionally visit the adjacent mango tree.
From the door of Mango Cottage to the crystal waters of Kua Bay is a 15-minute drive and another few minutes delivers you to the renowned beaches of the Kohala Coast. It’s just a quick 10-minute drive to Kailua-Kona where you will find supermarkets, a natural foods store, restaurants and other trappings of “Town.” There is much to explore from this central location and we are happy to share our life-long local knowledge.
Mango Cottage has been restored with new flooring, many windows, an efficient kitchen, and a lanai for relaxing outdoor living. Float in the hot tub and enjoy the Hawaiian starry night. This was our 3rd stay at Mango Cottage - we keep coming back for more! This time we brought our 7 month old daughter, and Christine had everything ready for us: a portable crib, highchair, an exersaucer, and she even picked up a little bathing seat so we could wash her easily in the tub. Plus beach toys! Christine and Bobby really go above and beyond in hosting their guests and Mango Cottage is your own private paradise on the big island during your stay. You will not be disappointed. We will be back! Mahalo, Christine and Bobby!
Really great cottage with fantastic garden. We enjoyed every single day there and did regret that we did not book any longer. Bobby did welcome us personally and introduced everything. Everything is there even everything you need for the beach including masks, fins, etc. Highly recommend the property to everyone who wants to stay in the area.
All was very good and as we expected.
Liked picking my oranges for breakfast.
Internet a bit slow but then again that is not critical.
Very nice place, clean and close to all accesses to Kona, Mauna Kea Waimea, Waikoloa, airport....
You have a place that I already recommended.
It is a lovely place to stay. The house is nice, the garden is huge and the view is amazing! It was also nice to have the beach stuff. Christine is a great host and she's being very helpful!
We had an AMAZING time at the Mango Cottage. It is wonderfully private and had anything we could think to want. Seriously! The hubby randomly wanted piña coladas one night, but on the way back from the store we realized that we didn't check to see if there was a blender. We only had like a second of worry before we were like, "naw, I'm pretty sure there is one". Sure enough, there was. :)
Additionally, Christine sweetly left some beer and fresh fruit for us to enjoy upon our arrival. Needless to say, we devoured it, lol! It was seriously a life savor as we were a bit jet lagged and were torn between the need for food and the need for a nap. :)
The house itself is nicely decorated and the bed was really comfortable. We ended up leaving the windows open the whole time we were there and went to sleep and woke up to the relaxing sounds of nature. Well, one morning there was also the sound of power tools, but what can you do? :)
Overall, the cottage GREATLY contributed to the amazing time we had in Kona. We would definitely come back and stay again if they would have us! Thanks so much Christine and Bobby!
The Mango Cottage was a great find. My family had a great time. Christine was extremely helpful and welcoming and was always there if we needed. She also knows the town extremely well and can tell you great places to go. Hopefully we'll be back soon. Thank you Christine and Bobby!
My husband and I had an excellent time at Mango Cottage for our honeymoon! The hosts were very welcoming and even left us wine in the fridge and some fruit as a welcome! The property was very clean and the grounds were beautiful. There were mosquitoes when we went (late September), but Christine and Bobby even left bug spray for us. They had snorkel gear we used to explore some beaches, they had an electronic gate that made the cottage extra private, and everything was decorated beautifully. The cottage is secluded, but only has about 1 mile of small back roads - they're all paved. We still drove around the area at night with our small Chevrolet car easily. We even got to use the grill to grill some pineapple on our last morning at the cottage! Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
About the Host, Christine & Bobby
We have lived in Kona for thirty-five years and have called Kohanaiki Road home for many of those. Our property has been a labor of love and we are delighted to offer the cottage as a vacation rental. My husband and I are now retired and spend much of our time in the garden, walking our dogs, creating jewelry, or traveling to California to visit our grandchildren.
