Great flat with all facilities: washing machine, dishwasher , tv, boiler and heating. Only the bathroom is too small but the flat in generally is confortable.
Everything was perfect!
Pretty much as described. Clean and well equipped. Close to amenities. Reasonable access for those with too much luggage (one flight of stairs)!
Very convenient to reach London downtown from the appartment. Grabbing keys from Saint Pancras is also very helpful with the office close to the train station.
The bathroom is very small, still. No TV. There were not Wifi instructions as well, so for connected people it may be a little limited.
The apartment is based in a great neighborhood, about 15-20 minutes bus ride to the city center. Great 24 hour bus service.
We had a good stay and some minor issues were solved promptly by the host!
Disappointing. Dishes and flatware were ridiculous (2 tea-mugs for 4 persons), no dish-towels. The boiler had been replaced, the new boiler didn´t fit in the cupboard, so the now useless door was just stowed at a kitchen wall. In the living room one blind had fallen off the wall - we fixed it ourselves because the hosts hadn´t even noticed. The bed in the lower bedroom couldn´t be used as a double because the mattress was too weak, we had to use one of the cots instead The bath is nice - but mini-tiny, it works, but for instance we had to open the door when using the sink (no problem, as the door couldn´t be locked anyway…). We didn´t use the mirrored wall-cupboard, as we got aware of a used q-tip inside. We found as many towels as tea-mugs, a bit damp and crunched into the wardrobe. The kitchen was quite worn off, way too many cabinets, a dangerously loose shelf above one of the bed-heads and also some strange items of no specific use made the whole place look a bit like a deposit for bulky refuse. In the entrance area of the house the neighbours had stowed their garbage-bags and their vacuum-cleaner (and even a Dyson can be smelly if not treated properly). So, we cannot really recommend staying here, although we have to admit, that additional cups and towels were supplied within hours after sending a short message. But the whole attitude was too amateurish and almost € 700,-- (including airbnb-fee) were absolutely not adequate.
The area is allright, quiet and safe. Maida Vale Underground Station is a fifteen to twenty minutes walk, you can buy day- or seven-day-tickets here which we preferred to oyster-cards.
We can recommend the “Coffee-Tree” just around the corner in Shirland Rd., the “Red Sqirrel” at Chippenham Rd./Elgin Ave. (although no british lagers are served – but strangely enough french, dutch and belgian beer) - try the burgers here. An Indian restaurant “Maida Vale Tandoori” is just across Elgin Ave. which offers good quality for reasonable prices.
Everything was perfect, more Abdul responds to emails very quickly and very accurately! We were very well received at the time that we had agreed and the apartment was consistent with the announcement. The neighborhood is very quiet and very convenient for shopping and 5 minutes from home. The bathroom is a bit small but otherwise everything was PERFECT. We will return with really fun! Thank you and Abdul Airbnb!
Somehow, when we arrived, we ended up not having the apartment number--we only had the street name. To make matters worse, our mobile was completely dead. Luckily, a friendly neighbor saw our party of four wandering in the pouring rain and took us in. She let us use her wifi and her mobile so that we could call Abdul to get the street number.
On arriving, the apartment was still being cleaned, but that wasn't a big deal.
We arrived during an unseasonably cold time. So we had to figure out how to turn on the heater. But Abdul quickly responded to text messages with our questions so we got that straightened out quickly.
The apartment had space for each member of the family to have their own area--we put one child on the foldout in the living room, one in a bedroom, and then we took the other.
We ended up trading bedrooms with my son, though. The bed we originally slept in had a huge sag in the middle, which made it uncomfortable for two.
The bathroom is quite small, even by European standards. Although we had plenty of bed linens, there weren't enough towels. For four people we had a total of four bath towels (of varying size and quality). No hand towels, wash cloths, or dish towels were provided.
We had planned on cooking multiple meals in the apartment, but the dishes are very limited. There are very few glasses and plates and no large serving spoons, for example. Still, we were able to cook two simple dinners.
The location is good--it isn't far to Paddington, either by tube or by bus. And it is not far from central London.
Be warned that the small local groceries immediately surrounding the apartment take only cash or chip-and-pin credit cards. Abdul's friend recommended the shisha place nearby for dinner (Momtaz) and it was a great recommendation. The food was delicious.
The neighborhood is relatively quiet and felt safe.
Merci Abdul!
