The Space

Let us pamper you with our small-town hospitality at the Art House. Your home away from home is full of color and interesting things to look at. You will have the hidden bedroom which features a luxurious, super-comfortable queen canopy bed, original artwork, and a private Moorish-inspired full bathroom. Start your day with our famous home-cooked breakfast in the sunny dining room. You may not want to leave the secluded, sun-dappled backyard sitting area, unless it’s to wander among the grape vines and lavender plants or take a peek at the chickens, who might be laying some eggs for breakfast.

For families with children we can offer a comfortable sofabed in the living room that sleeps two.

We provide you with a convenient base for your visits to San Francisco, the Wine Country, Point Reyes National Seashore, the scenic Sonoma Coast and majestic redwoods. Stroll past gorgeous Victorian homes on your way to picture-perfect Petaluma’s historic downtown, full of boutiques, antique shops and scores of top-notch restaurants from diner-style to Michelin caliber. Just 35 miles north of San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge, Petaluma is a great spot for bicycling, kayaking, hiking and walking. Enjoy movies, live music and theater right in town, or take a short drive to the Green Music Center for world-class performances.

Besides a warm welcome and an easy, relaxing stay, we offer you free wi-fi and plenty of parking. We are experienced hosts, having provided home hospitality to international visitors for over two decades, and will gladly provide you with maps and tips on culinary tours, wineries, restaurants and local secrets. Along with our big, friendly dog Puck, we look forward to welcoming you!

The Neighborhood

Our home is in a quiet residential neighborhood across the street from a park with mature trees and large grassy areas. If you're not busy sightseeing, you can take advantage of the park's picnic tables, public tennis courts, playground, playing fields and a small, heated swimming pool at the other end. We're in easy walking distance of downtown, or you can drive there and park for free.

Getting around

We are easily accessible by non-stop airport shuttle from San Francisco International and Oakland International airports. We would be happy to pick you up from the shuttle bus stop, schedule permitting. Otherwise, there are taxis usually waiting at the bus stop. Rental car companies can also pick you up at the bus stop. By rental car from San Francisco airport take Highway 101 all the way to Petaluma. We have ample street parking available. Please contact us if you need more precise directions.

  • It's hard to know where to start with hosts as wonderful as Deborah and Ron! Their house is both immaculate and eclectic at the same time. The bedroom-- cunningly hidden behind a functional bookcase that Ron himself built-- is as comfortable as advertised (as is the bed!).

But the best part about staying at the Art House was the hosts. Deborah and Ron are two of the kindest people we met on our journey-- eager to engage in good conversation, but equally eager to let guests take the time they need for themselves. The dog, Puck, is friendly but respectful, and the artwork on the walls gives the place a personality all its own.

We will certainly be staying at the Art House again, and we highly recommend it to anyone lucky enough to get a booking.

  • This is my third time staying at the Art House-- Deborah and Ron are wonderful hosts, and always make me feel completely welcome and at home. The room and bed are very comfortable, as is the private bathroom with incredible artwork. Everything is spotless, and the breakfasts are amazing: great coffee, homemade granola and muffins, fresh fruit and eggs from the chickens in the backyard! Petaluma is a very cute little town with tons of things to do in the area, and Deborah is very knowledgeable of all the options available. Highly recommended!!!

  • Deborah (email hidden) with lots of wonderful suggestions. She was warm and hospitable! She made our sisters retreat a special experience! Thank you!

  • Deborah, Ron and Puck are fabulous. This was my second time staying with them and it was even better than the first. The room and bathroom are lovely and super clean. They make me feel like an old friend versus a guest with their expression of genuine concern for my comfort and convenience. I really feel at home there. They really go out of their way to help me with all of my dietary restrictions. I sincerely could not ask for more.

  • We arrived early in Petaluma, and showed up a bit early to Deborah's. No problem though, she was just painting in the other room (great artist). She welcomed us in, offered us something to drink and then took us to the hallway where we saw the secret door. (So cool!) our room was lovely, the weather was perfect. They let us borrow a lunch box for the next day even. For you Gluten Free people, she kindly adjusted the morning breakfast to have something gluten free. Great home full of art and love! Thanks Deborah!

  • The room and location were lovely and convenient. We had a very comfortable stay and sleep, even though our trip was short. Deborah and Ron were terrific and as warm and welcoming as could be; they were very flexible with our plans and were so accommodating for our short stay and early morning departure. They're very thoughtful hosts--Deborah makes the most wonderful baked goods and went out of her way to leave them for us to take on the airplane early in the morning! Our stay here made the end of our trip pleasant and relaxing. We highly, highly recommend them!

  • After staying at a few AirBnb places, my conclusion is that Deborah and Ron have to be the sweetest and most thoughtful hosts ever!

The hidden room is beautiful and unique (…well, their whole house is!). The bed was comfortable and warm. The Moorish-style bathroom with the hand painted borders was beautiful. Of course, everything was super clean and neat… even better than in the pictures!

Deborah and Ron have traveled to many places, so they know exactly what is required in order to (email hidden)us, they can share lots of interesting/useful information about the area, as Deborah has worked in the Petaluma visitor center, and Ron works for the county parks... In short, they know a lot of stuff!

Other things we enjoyed during our stay (not in any particular order):
    1) the delicious breakfast and table setting put together by Deborah…
    2) their adorable and friendly dog, Puck...
    3) the quiet neighborhood…
    4) the fun conversations with the hosts.

Again, thanks for everything! We would definitely love to come back to the Art House next time we go to Petaluma :)

  • This was my first experience using Airbnb & it was a good one. I've let my friends know of this option as well.

Deborah & Ron were nice hosts. Deborah made wonderful things for breakfast. Her homemade granola & chocolate biscotti were excellent. I also really enjoyed eggs from their chickens. The room & bathroom were exceptionally clean & very adequate. The bed was VERY comfortable. I've been traveling for several months & I slept better than I have in a long time. It was quiet, the neighborhood great; close to downtown, parks & amazing scenery.

  • Deborah and Ron are fantastic hosts and Puck has to be the friendliest dog I've encountered. Breakfast was tasty and filling and they have some great tips on the local area and are very willing to share. The hidden room is truly delightful and I loved the pieces of art throughout the house. I only wish we had more time to spend with them, but it just gives another reason to go back. A wonderful experience!

  • What a great spot! I loved the hidden room, beautiful garden, and hilarious dog, Puck. The hosts are so friendly with a ton of knowledge of the area. Delicious and hearty breakfast in the morning (you won't leave hungry)! I was glad I stayed here.
