Escape from everyday life and surround yourself in luxury in these beautiful Costa Rican villas.

The space

Escape to paradise…everyday!

Turquoise waters, pure white sands and deep blue skies provide a soothing respite from workaday world, reminding us of the value of solitude, peace and relaxation.

Located 10 minutes from the Tambor airport, secluded and private, is Casa de las Mariposas. The villas are set in a real Costa Rican village “off the tourist track” with all the modern luxuries.

You’ll love the oversized gourmet kitchen with table that is the heart of the house. All of the furniture and cabinetry have been custom made. The open air living room has locally made rocking chairs with beautiful views. Two bedrooms each with a queen size bed and its own bath, as well as a laundry room complete the main house.

The second home or casita has a large open living area that opens to a beautiful in-ground pool that is covered in rich dark blue glass tiles. The casita is self-sufficient with kitchen and private bedroom which also contains a queen size bed and full bathroom. Along with a sleeping porch with two twin beds, the casita with oven, full size fridge and pool side ice maker are a great convenience. A charcoal grill, IPod station and exterior dining table make Casa de las Mariposas a true paradise!

The 1 ½ acre property has an abundance of tropical landscape including flowering orchids and shrubs. The impeccably maintained pool and garden are breathtaking. Relax in one of the hammocks and listen to howler monkeys that come by to visit. Wild parrots, toucans and bird watching can be enjoyed as well.

Casa de las Mariposas is great for couples travelling together, or families that would like some extra space. Everything you need for a perfect tropical getaway is located here. The area offers a large variety of outdoor activities, and there are many organized tours available. Enjoy a wonderful horseback ride on the beach, a boat trip to Tortuga Island where you can enjoy snorkeling and the beautiful white sand beach. For Surfers, Mal Pais and Playa Santa Teresa are quick trips from the villas. Montezuma a lovely artist colony and great for night life, is a short trip as well. Two golf courses are nearby where you can play in some of the most breath taking views in the world!

Whether its adventure you seek, or relaxation, Casa de las Mariposa is the right spot for you.

Everything from fine dining, a pizza place right on the beach or Costa Rican “Tico”style food is nearby. The location is pristine, private and the area offers everything for a fabulous vacation in Costa Rica.

We can gladly arrange for your pick up at the airport in Tambor, or the ferry in Paquera. We can assist you with ideas to make your vacation as enjoyable and memorable as possible!

Great place for a family with kids that enjoy swimming. Although be aware there's no shallow end to the pool, it's about 5 feet deep throughout. There is also a very nice and well equipped kitchen.

Oh yes. Fabulous place. Playa Tambor is not really on the main tourist/backpacker drag but close enough that it makes an excellent base to explore the area. The property is excellent. We admired the thoughtful architecture and design. We LOVED staying here. Highly recommended. * Beautiful, well maintained garden and grounds, complete with monkeys. * The pool & accompanying cabina is genius for chilling or entertaining. * Fully kitted and stocked kitchen that learns towards Italian cuisine, complete with ice cream and pasta machines. The best I've seen at any AirBnb to date, the only thing it's missing is an extractor for frying. * Air conditioning in every room allows you keep only the areas you need cool. * Would comfortably sleep 6. There are 2 additional outside beds near the pool that we saw more as a luxury for afternoon snoozing than a viable night-time sleeping option. Tips: * The best food we had was at "The Bakery" in Playa Carmen / Playa Santa Teresa. Cant recommend this place enough. * Much better/cheaper grocery options to be had in nearby Cóbano.

The house itself is so much better than on pictures. We loved sitting in the rocking chairs in the screen in den. We were concerned at first on how far we were from Montezuma and Santa Teresa, but we all agreed that staying in Tambor was the best decision ever. The ticos and ticas are so nice and the village (downtown tambor) is so safe and not has busy and dusty as Montezuma. We had rented a 4X4 and were able to go wherever we wanted to go. The pool was also a +++, we enjoyed it many times. The house is fully, and I mean fully equipped, there are so many plates, pots, bowls, towels and having a washer and dryer really helped. The wi-fi was very slow but can be used if you have patience. We didn't need it that much. Thank you so much for this great experience. We are certainly coming back. Tony the owner of the house responded very quickly and was very helpful with all our questions. Colleen the house manager was of great help. She met us at night, brought us to a little market to get food and showed us the way to the house. She explained everything and whenever we had questions she responded right away. 100% satisfied. Pura Vida !!!!!

Our family had the opportunity to celebrate the Christmas holidays at Tony's place in Tambor. It was just wonderful! The home was warm and welcoming. We enjoyed cooking meals and drinking wine in the large kitchen. A local dog even adopted us during our stay. We adored the village in which the home is located and always felt safe and comfortable. This area does not have a lot of tourists - and that is just what we were looking for. Colleen, Tony's property manager, was terrific. She greeted us when we arrived and was helpful as any issues came up. We filled our time with daytrip adventures (sea kayaking with Bruce at Seascape, a trip to Isla Tortuga with Tavo, ziplining in Monetzuma, and boogie boarding in Santa Teresa), as well as relaxing, beach time, hiking, drinks and food in Tambor. Pura Vida at its best!

Response from Tony:
So wonderful that you and your family enjoyed the Christmas holidays at Casa de las Mariposas. Regarding the guide to local business, there is a guide and written things to do by the phone, however, it appears that it may have gotten put away by the cleaning people. Sorry about that. Yes, there is some distance between the main house and casita as the property is on 1 1/2 acres. It is good the hear that it worked out ok. Cheers!

We loved staying at Tony's place! It was even better than described-- clean, well-stocked and beautiful! It didn't sleep as many as we expected (three beds only, with two extra beds out on a patio and not available for nighttime sleeping), but otherwise it was completely ideal.

Tonys house is a confortable newly built modern house which sits in a secluded area, which is, however, part of a small village. The house itself is beautiful, and we enjoyed sitting in the evening in the roking chairs siping a glass of wine and listening to all the noises of the jungle. The kitchen, the rooms, the shower and the arquiteture style are just stuning. We also enjoyed walking down in the morning to the small supermarket which is in the village. There are plenty places to eat just a short drive away. I would probably sugest having some sort of private transport to get around. A wonderfull experience which I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area, which is also beautiful.
