Two double bedrooms with a private bathroom and continental breakfast are available in the leafy area of Glasnevin. You will be a few minutes walk from the beautiful Botanic Gardens, historic Cemetery and a 10 minute bus trip from the city centre.
This is a great opportunity to stay in a beautiful old part of Dublin ( the house is over 100 years old) and to explore the amenities on the doorstep and also explore the city centre which is only 10 minutes away by bus. There is also a second bedroom which can be booked which would be ideal for groups of friends / family travelling for an event / concert etc
You will have your own private bedroom and bathroom.
There will be no access to the living / lounge areas or the kitchen for cooking of meals but I do have loads of tried and trusted recommendations for you in the locality of great places to eat
Bikes can be stored if required
Interaction with Guests
You will be warmly welcomed and given as much information and help as you need to plan your trip. A continental breakfast will be provided
The peace and quiet that a residential neighbourhood offers while also being so close to a bustling city centre.
Glasnevin has so much to offer! No trip to Glasnevin would be complete without a trip to the beautiful Botanic Gardens. You would have to do a few laps of the gardens to do the same route twice. Adjoining the gardens is historic Glasnevin Cemetery. You are free to walk around here and there are maps showing you graves of interest but I can highly recommend the guided tour here and you will come away with a very good guide to Irish history.
Also the wonderful Gravediggers pub / restaurant is a 2 minutes stroll away. This was recently voted into Lonely Planet's 'Europe's top 50 secret spots for travellers'. You can wander back in time here as you enjoy great food and drinks.
Other places of note to eat in the immediate vicinity are McMahons on Botanic Avenue, the cafe in the Botanic Gardens, the cafe in Glasnevin Cemetery and the Porterhouse for food and craft beers. If you feel like splashing out 'Chapter One', one of Ireland's Michelin star restaurants is 5-10 minutes away on the bus. You may need to book here in advance and I can help with that. 'The Hot Stove' is another restaurant in the vicinity that serves up the very best of Irish food.
I can also personally recommend the Gravediggers Ghost Bus tour which starts from Dame St in the city centre. This will bring you around some of Dublin's haunted sites before arriving back in the Gravediggers for a well earned drink.
Glasnevin is also ideally situated a 10 minute walk from Drumcondra and a 10 minute walk from Phibsboro. Both of these areas offer a wide array of shops and services as well as additional bus routes.
Drumcondra boasts a number of fine eateries such as Andersons, The Ivy House, The Cheese Pantry, Day by Night, Thunders Bakery and not forgetting Fagans pub where Bill and Hilary Clinton dropped by for a drink in 1998. Indeed the walls of Fagans are covered in pictures of many famous guests down through the years. Drumcondra also has dry cleaners, banks, churches etc and most of the services you would require.
Phibsboro is also well served with a wide range of shops including an excellent bike repair shop, antique shop, churches, large Tesco store etc. The Woodstock cafe serves up excellent food all day long. McGowans is another place to enjoy a drink and if you still have energy to after exploring all day then they have a night club which stays open 'til the wee hours and is a very popular spot.
The 4, 9 & 83 buses open up a wealth of great experiences to you... here are just a sample...
Trinity College, Olympia Theatre, National Wax Museum & Grafton Street for shopping ( get off on Dame St), Bus Sightseeing tour, Garden of Rememberance, Spire, Gate Theatre & Henry Street for shopping ( get off on O'Connell St). I can also easily direct you to the Guinness Storehouse which is regularly one of Ireland's top attractions.
If outdoors is your thing then you will simply be spoilt for choice. There are 4 parks within a 10 minute walk from the house - Albert College Park, Griffith Park, Violet Hill Park & Mount Bernard Park. Mount Bernard Park has basketball and tennis courts which are free to use. We can provide you with tennis rackets etc to use. You can also stroll along the Royal Canal.
We are also very close to Croke Park (GAA), Na Fianna GAA club, Tolka Park (Soccer) and Dalymount Park (Soccer) should you wish to go see a game in action. We are perfectly located for anyone going to one of the five Garth Brooks concerts! It is also possible now to do a Sky Walk in Croke Park!
If you are here to study, we are a short stroll from DCU, Mater Dei college of education, St Patricks college of education and all three buses that pass the house will drop you at the front gates of Trinity.
If some night you wish to just sit back the Cineworld cinema on Parnell Street (17 screens) can also be easily reached on the no 4 and 9 buses.
You can stroll leisurely to the city centre in 40 minutes or there are three bus routes that pass the door and will have you in the city centre in 10 minutes. The 4, 9 & 83 buses all pass the door and will cost €2.35 each.
There are three main ways really to get here from the airport.
Our address is 95 Botanic Road, Glasnevin, Dublin 9. Pick up from the airport can sometimes be arranged for €15. Just ask!
You could get a taxi from Arrivals which would cost around €20 and take about 15 minutes
In relation to buses you could get either the No 16 Dublin Bus for about €2 each or the Aircoach for about €7 each. The Aircoach is faster and more frequent. Once on these buses you have two options, get off in the suburb of Drumcondra which is 10 / 15 min walk from the house or head for the city centre.
If you get off in Drumcondra you will take the road beside Fagans pub. This is Botanic Avenue. Continue straight down that road until you get to a crossroads and turn left onto Mobhi road which leads into Botanic road. We are no 95 and on the left. This will be about a 15 minute walk.
Your other option is to stay on either bus and head straight to the city centre. You will get off on O'Connell Street ( the main street in the city) and you can get the no 4 or 9 bus (they both leave from stop 281) out to the house. This trip will take you about 10mins and costs €2.35 each. If you ask the driver for the stop after the Sunnybank hotel, you get off there and we are across the road.
Other Things to Note

There are not enough nice thing I can say about Angela and Jerry! They were very welcoming and gave us great advice about what to see and do in Dublin and the surrounding area. Their home was lovely and they had breakfast for us every morning. The rooms were clean, warm and well kept. And the bathroom was amazing. The neighborhood was nice and quite and a very reasonable walking distance from the city center. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Dublin.
It was our first time using Airbnb and we were not sure what to expect.
Angela has set a bar that I think others will struggle to meet. Both Angela and Jerry were warm friendly and welcoming. They really enhanced a lovely weekend. We would stay again without question.
We had a wonderful experience with Angela and Jerry. Communication prior to our 2-day stay was perfect, and we arrived with no problem to their lovely house in Drumcondra. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and showed to our lovely room. There's meticulously prepared material about Dublin by the door to the bedroom, a huge beautiful bathroom for airbnb guests and the room itself is lovely. It's on the smaller side, but for us, visiting for just two days, it was perfect. Angela bakes the best scones north of the Liffey, and if you're lucky you'll have them (along with freshly squeezed juice and some excellent jam) for breakfast! The house is near buslines to the city center (#9 and #4), or you can walk for about 30 minutes straight to the center. Thank you Angela and Jerry, and we hope to see you again in our next visit in Dublin!
Angela made us feel very welcome into her home and prior to our arrival she was very helpful by email. The area is a nice area and well connected by bus and taxi to the city centre. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the breakfast was good. Overall is was a very positive experience.
Angela's place is great. it's near a really interesting part of the city with some must hit Dublin spots which Abgela kindly lays out for you. it's also an easy bus ride/cab down to the city center for going out. HIGHLY recommended
Angela and Jerry gave me a very warm welcome. Bed was very comfy and smelled very fresh. Private bathroom was really luxurious, better than you would find in a four star hotel. Loved the powerful rainshower. Breakfast was excellent with freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly baked homemade scones a real treat. Really enjoyed the chat with Jerry over breakfast, time flew and before I knew it it was time to go.
The room was as exactly as seen in the photo. Wonderful bathroom. The neighborhood was (email hidden)ar the botanical gardens which are beautiful. Good and quick transportation to the downtown area. Charming couple with a lovely house. We had a wonderful experience with them in Dublin and are very grateful.
Jerry and I have lived in this house for three years now and absolutely love the area. The beautiful Botanic Gardens are literally a two minute walk away so we are regularly to be found down there. Both of us have a keen interest in sport particularly in Gaelic Games so if we can direct you to a game , we will! We love being so close to the city centre to explore Dublin itself or further afield where connecting buses and trains are easily accessed.
